Yorick

“You’ve been awfully quiet today,” I say to Cyra. She’s been in her own world of thoughts since our call this morning. In class, I had to nudge her several times to help her stay focused and now that classes are done for the day, she’s back to being in her own head. What I wouldn’t give to have my mark on her neck so I could follow along with whatever she’s thinking.

Okay, I just want my mark on her neck, but it would definitely help right now.

Cyra looks at me and smiles. “You know, Kaylee is the scariest pup I’ve ever met in my life.”

I burst out laughing. Quirin would be so proud to hear that.

“She and her twin, Kendra, are something else. Wade calls them the Double K, Triple Threat, because the have learned to fight together and even at a young age, they’re pretty powerful. I wasn’t there, but Quirin loves to tell the story of how his two-and-a-half year old girls dropped one of his warriors.”

“Dropped him? You mean took him down?” she asks, her eyes going wide.

Cyra“I know you’re still struggling to understand that you’re not alone anymore, Cyra, but you aren’t,” my mate, my sweet, amazing mate says to me.He’s right, I don’t know what it means to not be alone, but I’m getting a crash course on what it’s like to have family, a real family, surround you with their love. Looking at my mate, seeing the pure and absolute love in his eyes makes me realize several things all at once.First, no matter what, I want his mark on my neck and mine on his. Second, I want to be the kind of Alpha that a man like Yorick will be proud of, someone he would want to follow, but would also be willing to stand beside and lead our pack together. And finally, no matter what it takes, no matter how difficult it might be for me, for us, I want him to follow his dream and become an elite warrior for as long as wants that life.Since I’m already in his lap, I turn, straddling him as I take his mouth in a passionate kiss. His response, as always, is instant. Now that m

  • The Pack's Alpha   Chapter 56: Purchasing the Debt

CyraYorick and I got up early to get breakfast so we could meet with the Tech Team before sparring class. Hijack apparently has information to share with all of us.Rather than meeting in the library, we’re meeting in Hijack’s room. When we arrive, I realize that third year students have much larger rooms than we do as first years. However, even with the added space, Hijack’s room is filled with so much computer equipment, it’s still difficult to find a place to sit. His bed is shoved against the wall like it’s an afterthought to someone who forgets to go to sleep and needs a place to fall into when they’re so exhausted they can’t stay awake any longer. While the room is cluttered with equipment, it’s spotless and there’s an almost perfectionistic structure to it. I have no doubt that Hijack knows where every bit of equipment is and could access it within seconds if needed. From the look of it, he’s already set up the video equipment and turned a monitor to face the room. I’m guessing

HackerWhile Tracker has been away, Hijack and I have taken turns watching over Sphinx. Neither of us expect that she will get into trouble before she comes to the Academy, but sometimes trouble comes looking for you. Since all of us like to be proactive and cover all our bases, we agreed that we’d monitor Sphinx when we could. Having been the ones who put the security system into her brother’s pack, it’s a lot easier for us to monitor what’s going on in that pack. This morning, I’m watching her in warrior training. I smile. She’s good. Really good.Until she isn’t.I frown, turning up the volume on the security system. It doesn’t help. There are too many other warriors on the field talking and giving instructions. Sphinx and Alpha Connor, who is talking to her, are on the other side of the battlefield.I watch her nod, see the look on her face like she knows she’s disappointing her brother. Having seen them in person, having Shakespeare basically threaten Hijack and I, knowing that we

  • The Pack's Alpha   Chapter 54: Alpha Michael

YorickMy first week back after being gone a week was hectic. Alpha Nevaeh was right that I’d missed a lot. I underestimated how much time it would take to catch up and try to keep up after missing only a week. However, my sweet mate helped me through.Sparring is the only class where I feel like I didn’t fall behind. And now that Alpha Leo is gone, I feel like I’m really starting to learn better fighting techniques. I have a lot of fighting knowledge already and unlike some in this class, including my mate, I’ve fought in real battles. I know firsthand that what you learn in class comes in handy, but you can’t assume that everything will be as easy as it is in a controlled environment. People die on that battlefield. My sister Wendy was almost one of those casualties two years ago.Having learned from two men who fought in a lot of wars, my father and Quirin, I feel like sparring is my best and easiest class. On Wednesday morning, Alpha Nevaeh walks into the dining hall before sparrin

  • The Pack's Alpha   Chapter 53: Lila

Piper“Hello, may I speak to Blaire please?” I ask. I’ve been searching for Alpha Stellan’s mate and I’m pretty sure I’ve found her.“Who’s calling?” a female voice asks.“My name is Piper Conley.”“Anyone who knows me, knows I don’t go by Blaire. Goodbye,” she says and starts to hang up.“Wait! I’m friends with Alpha Cyra. Do you know who that is?”I get silence, but the phone doesn’t disconnect.“I’m at the warrior Academy with Alpha Cyra. Do you know who that is?” I say.“What do you want?” she asks, her tone sharp.“I just want to talk to you. If you know who Cyra is, then you know that your mate is in an alliance bond with her,” I say. I’m not sure I should show my hand so quickly, but I don’t want her hanging up and blocking me.“You know nothing about my mate,” she says, but this time there’s a hint of fear in her voice. I wonder if he's threatened her not to tell anyone.“I know Alpha Stellan is your mate. Look, I don’t know you Blaire, or whatever name you go by, but I am a wo
