"Oh," her voice dropped and so did her eyes. "Is that what he told you."
They both looked at her with their arms crossed. Aurora didn't even spare a glance at Caden not wanting to see his face. And if it was an interesting one then it could break her performance.
"Just tell us the truth, ok," her dad pressed.
"Well... the truth is... that he's been threatening me." it came out as barely a whisper.
Her parents looked at her in surprise before glancing over at Caden. Aurora still refrained from looking at his face.
"I had a bad feeling about him since, the beginning. I know it was mostly because of Carson leaving but he started saying word things and demanding money from me and threatening to hurt me if I didn't give it to him. When we went to the mall the other day he made me buy things for him and when I said no..." her voice broke.
"Aurora..." her mother looked at her with soft eyes.
"He hit me." Aurora pointed to the bruise on her cheekbone. It had not healed properly and was covered in makeup so they could not see it but if required she would remove it to show them. "I wore makeup to cover it. He said- he said he would hit me more if I said anything. I don't know where he got that story from but it's the farthest from the truth."
Their faces changed from concern to anger and she knew she won. Hook, line, and sinker. They fell right back into the palms of her hands.
"This- this is outrageous! How dare you lay a hand on my child, My Princess!" her mother stood up from the couch and marched towards Caden.
Aurora finally looked over at him. He looked frustrated and when they met gazes, she let out a little mocking sniffle. Aurora's mom gripped onto Caden's collar and pulled him forward. He didn't resist and even held out when she raised her hand and gave him a nasty slap across the face.
Aurora couldn't help the little laugh that came out when she saw that and Caden glared at her. Her father got up slowly. He walked past Caden and went out of the living room. When he came back there were three guards with him.
"Take him to the cell. I'll deal with him later."
That was easy. She was surprised that that was all it took. Years of being their little Princess really benefitted her when it counts.
"She has been lying to you. Search her room. Follow her, she's been doing illegal fights. I'm sure she had old scars that can prove it." he told them as he was carried away by the guards. "She's not the person she says she is!"
"Haven't you done enough?" Aurora cried. "Having Carson leave was hard and now I was put into this situation. I told you guys that it was a bad idea."
"Oh my Princess," her mother cooed as gave her a side hug. "I'm so sorry this happened. We should have listened to you."
"I'm just glad he's gone." Aurora smiled.
"We need to have you checked by the family doctor. Who knows the damage he did to your precious body? Did he hit you anywhere else?" she asked.
"No, no, only my cheek, and that's it. The family doctor is not needed."
But her words were drowned out by their worry before she could say more her father already pulled out his phone and dialed the doctor. And do half an hour later, she was sitting on the couch being checked by their doctor. Aurora had been treated by her for her entire life. The family of doctors has always been loyal to their family so it was only customary that Aaliyah followed them.
"The bruise is healing nicely," he said. "It seems like you have some knowledge in treating these sort of things."
Aurora gave her a smile. "Oh, the internet is a vast and wonderful place."
But then came the rest of the check-up and Aurors knew she was screwed when they got her arms. She had some cuts and old bruises there that just never managed to heal properly. It didn't hurt and was easy to hide but if one looked for it them they would find it. And that was exactly what she found.
"It seems that her arms are covered in scars and bruises that date back to a couple of months to years ago," Aaliyah said.
"What?!" her mother gasped.
And when her parents inspected her arms the truth was revealed.
"Was all that a lie? Where did these come from?! Have you been fighting this entire time?"
All of that for nothing. She gave such a convincing performance only for it to be squashed not even an hour later.
"Tell us the truth." her father demanded.
"Well, He did choke me earlier." she gave her weak argument.
And that only resulted in her banishment to her room. They didn't even know what to say and just sent her to her room. She sulked on her bed as she thought of what will happen in the future. Would there be a way to appease them? Now that they know her secret, they would have her do things she didn't want and it would add stress and anxiety to her.
After a little while, she heard some commotion outside and pressed her ear to her door. Was it something to do with Caden? Did a rival group break-in. But if that were the case then she would have heard something outside. Or she should have.
"Aurora." someone called her and as soon as she backed away from her door it opened and her father came in.
"What happened? What's with all the noise."
He gave her a hard look before answering. "Your bodyguard is no longer in confinement. He seemed to have broken out some time ago. So be careful. Who knows what he'll do."
Aurora gave him a weak nod and he left.
"Escaped huh?" she murmured. "And where would he go? He could not have left the property so he's somewhere in this house."
Aurora walked back to her bed and as she was about to lay down her body was suddenly pulled back. Her neck jerked back and she stumbled on her feet to catch herself.
"What the hell!" she exclaimed.
She turned her head and saw Caden behind her. He gripped the back of her neck in his hands and he had a deep sneer on his face. Aurora quickly recovered and gave him a little smirk.
"You damaged to escape from our cells. That's skill. Congratulations. So what'll you do now? Your basically trapped."
His grip tightened and he pulled her back, plush against him. "Tell me how you leave. I know there's away."
Aurora let out a laugh, it was weak because of the pressure on her throat but that wasn't what she cared about in this situation. "No."
He turned her around and held her from the front. She could easily break out of his hold but she stayed still and let him have his moment.
"I can kill you. Right here. So tell me, Princess."
"Aww, the pretty boy thinks that it's a threat. Go ahead and kill me. My parents will know that it was you and they will find you and kill you. All of that would have been for nothing so it won't matter. But please, kill me. I'll bring me great peace in my grave when you are."
He didn't say anything and Aurora gave him a smile. Her head was angled up at him and she was impossibly close to him. Meaning that she could smell him and his addicting scent and to be honest, the way he was looking at her, really made her stomach flip a little. He was sexy, she knew that.
"It's truly sad. How pathetic you have to be to tell my parents everything. Is it because I wounded your ego. That alone tells me how weak-minded of a person you are. Definitely not qualified for the job as a bodyguard."
He draws her even nearer and their noses are almost touching. They had a staring contest and she reused to blink or look away, but when there was a knock on her door, she blinked and looked towards it.
"Aurora, Princess," her mother called through the door. "It's a little unsafe to refrain from coming outside for a bit ok. Maybe you can handle yourself, maybe you can't, but just don't come outside, ok?"
There was silence and Caden stared down at her, he relieved some of the tension on her throat. She could have used it to yell for help but decided against it.
"Ok, mom,"
That was she said, and as soon as he heard her footsteps fade down the hallways she immediately turned the tables.
Aurora and Caden talked for hours after that. She was not sure how he could have not blown up on her and crushed her brains while she complained as if she really had it hard in life. Compared to Caden and most of the world, Aurora was living like royalty. But she told him about all that she was thinking and he listened to her every word. It seemed like there was something about England that brought these things out. How many emotions and problems was she going to have to face before they left the country. Damn.Caden chuckled. "I never expected that you were thinking like this. You are always so sure of yourself.""Yeah with things that don't really revolve around feelings." Aurora pouted. "But whatever. I told you what was upsetting me, so there. I think it's time to move on from this now."Caden gave her a look as she pushed herself upright on the bed. "All that dumping
Aurora had run away. It was obvious that she would by the time he stepped out of the bathroom. Ok, so maybe he should not have opened the shower door, but he wanted to make her know that he was being serious. And so after getting smacked in the face, he went back to his room and waited. But then he waited, and waited, hoping that she would come to him but that never happened.Aurora is stubborn and kind of fearless. Even if she did not know anything about England, she would surely leave the hotel and go around in an attempt to lose him. And although he knew that she could more than defend herself against someone who tried to cause her trouble. He could be one hundred percent certain that she would come back unscathed. He was supposed to be her bodyguard after all.Casey left his room with the intent to have to search for her for hours, but as he was passing through the lobby, he caught a glimpse of her through the glass panels o
The next day Aurora and Caden spent time together, she was trying to get over all that had happened and so they went out of the hotel to look at all that England had to offer. They walked through the towns and shopped a lot. They were not in London but Aurora planned to go there at some point in the trip. She also wanted to stop by Paris for a day or two.“Aurora I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that bag somewhere in your closet.” Caden took the handbag from her. “You don’t need it.”“Yes, I do. And I'm not sure what you’re talking about. I’ve never seen this bag before. Maybe because you're a man you think all bags look the same.” Aurora studied the designs on the bag. It was a light green bag with darker green flowers and leaves with gold detailing. It was simply gorgeous and she had to have it.
“What- what happened?” Caden asked as Aurora held into him for dear life. She hated that she was feeling like this. A part of her wishes was that she was still selfish just so that she would not have to feel like this. She would just go about acting like everything was done for her benefit and not thinking about the other people in her life. Things were simpler back when she was a spoiled brat. Carson didn’t seem to have a problem with her acting like that and he seemed to even indulge her sometimes. Yes, there were times when he would tell her that she was being too bratty but that did not happen too often.Maybe she could blame all of this on her parents. They were not as attentive as she wanted them to be and to solve that, they gave her money in place of their affection. They were real charmers in that department. Aurora felt most of the time that they just preferred the company of each other and only had her just so
When Aurora finally left the family home, it was well into the next day. And she was not complaining one bit. She lived every second of it. Carson’s family is really filled with love and acceptance. After she had found out that most of them knew who she was, all Aurora did was act like she didn't know anything. If they had a problem with who she was then they would not have been so welcoming. She did want to clear it up with everyone that Carson had never killed anyone but she was sure the girl would tell them. Aurora was the one who had blood on her hands. But it was good that he did not know that. All the things that happened in New York, and he just knew that surface. If he knew that she did underground fights, killed people, almost died, and had a boyfriend, he would feel responsible for not being there to take care of her, and Carson feeling guilty was the last thing she wanted. So she kept it all to herself. “Head up quickly now, d
They did not speak for the remainder of the day. They slept in their separate room and that was that. After she had told Caden her thoughts, he didn’t say anything and just walked off. He needed to understand that Carson’s opinion about her was the one she cared about the most. Yes, she did like Caden, maybe she liked him a little too much. But she could not tell Carson until she was ready. When the time came for him to pick them up to go to meet his family Caden never showed. She had knocked on his door and told him but he never came out and so she was forced to leave without him. Carson was confused but she just told him that he was feeling sick. Aurora did understand what Caden was saying, but she hoped that he understood what she was saying. Not everything could work out the way he wanted and she wanted him to be a little patient. She would tell him. Just not yet. Pushin Caden out of her mind, for the time being, sh
