"Oh," her voice dropped and so did her eyes. "Is that what he told you."
They both looked at her with their arms crossed. Aurora didn't even spare a glance at Caden not wanting to see his face. And if it was an interesting one then it could break her performance.
"Just tell us the truth, ok," her dad pressed.
"Well... the truth is... that he's been threatening me." it came out as barely a whisper.
Her parents looked at her in surprise before glancing over at Caden. Aurora still refrained from looking at his face.
"I had a bad feeling about him since, the beginning. I know it was mostly because of Carson leaving but he started saying word things and demanding money from me and threatening to hurt me if I didn't give it to him. When we went to the mall the other day he made me buy things for him and when I said no..." her voice broke.
"Aurora..." her mother looked at her with soft eyes.
"He hit me." Aurora pointed to the bruise on her cheekbone. It had not healed properly and was covered in makeup so they could not see it but if required she would remove it to show them. "I wore makeup to cover it. He said- he said he would hit me more if I said anything. I don't know where he got that story from but it's the farthest from the truth."
Their faces changed from concern to anger and she knew she won. Hook, line, and sinker. They fell right back into the palms of her hands.
"This- this is outrageous! How dare you lay a hand on my child, My Princess!" her mother stood up from the couch and marched towards Caden.
Aurora finally looked over at him. He looked frustrated and when they met gazes, she let out a little mocking sniffle. Aurora's mom gripped onto Caden's collar and pulled him forward. He didn't resist and even held out when she raised her hand and gave him a nasty slap across the face.
Aurora couldn't help the little laugh that came out when she saw that and Caden glared at her. Her father got up slowly. He walked past Caden and went out of the living room. When he came back there were three guards with him.
"Take him to the cell. I'll deal with him later."
That was easy. She was surprised that that was all it took. Years of being their little Princess really benefitted her when it counts.
"She has been lying to you. Search her room. Follow her, she's been doing illegal fights. I'm sure she had old scars that can prove it." he told them as he was carried away by the guards. "She's not the person she says she is!"
"Haven't you done enough?" Aurora cried. "Having Carson leave was hard and now I was put into this situation. I told you guys that it was a bad idea."
"Oh my Princess," her mother cooed as gave her a side hug. "I'm so sorry this happened. We should have listened to you."
"I'm just glad he's gone." Aurora smiled.
"We need to have you checked by the family doctor. Who knows the damage he did to your precious body? Did he hit you anywhere else?" she asked.
"No, no, only my cheek, and that's it. The family doctor is not needed."
But her words were drowned out by their worry before she could say more her father already pulled out his phone and dialed the doctor. And do half an hour later, she was sitting on the couch being checked by their doctor. Aurora had been treated by her for her entire life. The family of doctors has always been loyal to their family so it was only customary that Aaliyah followed them.
"The bruise is healing nicely," he said. "It seems like you have some knowledge in treating these sort of things."
Aurora gave her a smile. "Oh, the internet is a vast and wonderful place."
But then came the rest of the check-up and Aurors knew she was screwed when they got her arms. She had some cuts and old bruises there that just never managed to heal properly. It didn't hurt and was easy to hide but if one looked for it them they would find it. And that was exactly what she found.
"It seems that her arms are covered in scars and bruises that date back to a couple of months to years ago," Aaliyah said.
"What?!" her mother gasped.
And when her parents inspected her arms the truth was revealed.
"Was all that a lie? Where did these come from?! Have you been fighting this entire time?"
All of that for nothing. She gave such a convincing performance only for it to be squashed not even an hour later.
"Tell us the truth." her father demanded.
"Well, He did choke me earlier." she gave her weak argument.
And that only resulted in her banishment to her room. They didn't even know what to say and just sent her to her room. She sulked on her bed as she thought of what will happen in the future. Would there be a way to appease them? Now that they know her secret, they would have her do things she didn't want and it would add stress and anxiety to her.
After a little while, she heard some commotion outside and pressed her ear to her door. Was it something to do with Caden? Did a rival group break-in. But if that were the case then she would have heard something outside. Or she should have.
"Aurora." someone called her and as soon as she backed away from her door it opened and her father came in.
"What happened? What's with all the noise."
He gave her a hard look before answering. "Your bodyguard is no longer in confinement. He seemed to have broken out some time ago. So be careful. Who knows what he'll do."
Aurora gave him a weak nod and he left.
"Escaped huh?" she murmured. "And where would he go? He could not have left the property so he's somewhere in this house."
Aurora walked back to her bed and as she was about to lay down her body was suddenly pulled back. Her neck jerked back and she stumbled on her feet to catch herself.
"What the hell!" she exclaimed.
She turned her head and saw Caden behind her. He gripped the back of her neck in his hands and he had a deep sneer on his face. Aurora quickly recovered and gave him a little smirk.
"You damaged to escape from our cells. That's skill. Congratulations. So what'll you do now? Your basically trapped."
His grip tightened and he pulled her back, plush against him. "Tell me how you leave. I know there's away."
Aurora let out a laugh, it was weak because of the pressure on her throat but that wasn't what she cared about in this situation. "No."
He turned her around and held her from the front. She could easily break out of his hold but she stayed still and let him have his moment.
"I can kill you. Right here. So tell me, Princess."
"Aww, the pretty boy thinks that it's a threat. Go ahead and kill me. My parents will know that it was you and they will find you and kill you. All of that would have been for nothing so it won't matter. But please, kill me. I'll bring me great peace in my grave when you are."
He didn't say anything and Aurora gave him a smile. Her head was angled up at him and she was impossibly close to him. Meaning that she could smell him and his addicting scent and to be honest, the way he was looking at her, really made her stomach flip a little. He was sexy, she knew that.
"It's truly sad. How pathetic you have to be to tell my parents everything. Is it because I wounded your ego. That alone tells me how weak-minded of a person you are. Definitely not qualified for the job as a bodyguard."
He draws her even nearer and their noses are almost touching. They had a staring contest and she reused to blink or look away, but when there was a knock on her door, she blinked and looked towards it.
"Aurora, Princess," her mother called through the door. "It's a little unsafe to refrain from coming outside for a bit ok. Maybe you can handle yourself, maybe you can't, but just don't come outside, ok?"
There was silence and Caden stared down at her, he relieved some of the tension on her throat. She could have used it to yell for help but decided against it.
"Ok, mom,"
That was she said, and as soon as he heard her footsteps fade down the hallways she immediately turned the tables.
As soon as she found the opening, she gripped Caden's hands and ripped them off of her. There was a moment of distraction because of her mom and used that to her advantage to pin him down.He grunted in shock as she twisted his body and brought his back behind his body. She kicked out his knees and once he fell to the ground he tightened her grip and wrapped her free arm around his throat. He twisted his neck and craned it to see her."Wow, the Princess is tough. Honestly would have never seen it coming." he gave her a smile.Aurora rolled her eyes and held him tighter. "If this was your plan. To come here and threaten me then you have certainty underestimated me. You have no chance of getting out of here alive. So I suggest you just let me do the honors of killing you."
Caden walked into her room and he stood up next to her bed. Aurora looked at him waiting for him to speak. He looked around for a while and then at her."Come on pretty boy I don't have all night." she urged and he only stared at her. After a minute he spoke, "What do you want to know first?""How did you get the information?" she asked. He let out a heavy breath, "My friends told me. They are a part of one of the smaller groups that were recruited by Delta. They are all afraid and don't want to be a part of it but are afraid of what Delta would do to them if they said so. They could retaliate and wipe them out. I think that most groups felt the same way.""Delta is biting off more than they can chew and it seems like they also have a very big head. They have always been number two and will remain that. Or maybe we'll just wipe them out."Aurora looked at Caden. His eyes shifted occasionally and he swayed on his feet. It looked suspicious ho
Getting to the fight took longer than usual so she had to leave earlier than usual. Aurora wondered if her parents knew she was lying. A bomb had been dropped on them so they may start to suspect her behavior more. And it wasn't like they told her st stop. In all of their conversations about it, which was like two, they had never said anything about her stopping so she took that as a sign that they didn't mind it much. It was that she didn't tell them was the problem. Her parents were the rulers of illegal activity in New York, so they really had no right to act as if she was doing something bad.The night was cold and silent. She walked from her apartment to the fight and she honestly took a little time walking slower because of how peaceful. The occasional car would pass and so would people. The part of New York they were in was not t
Aurora was beyond frustrated. The girl had been following her for two blocks more and was ready to take her down, But she continued walking. She had already dealt with almost getting crushed by Mammoth and her body was exhausting. She sighed as she walked and lead the girl in a completely different direction than her apartment or house. She was just walking randomly at one point. If her plan was to follow her home and break in or so some bullshit then it would be a problem. Especially if she saw how Aurora got in. Caden already knew and it was pretty foolish that she told him. What if he would bring other people from Delta and then be able to enter her house. All the glass in the house was bulletproof but still. They could cut down the entire door or something. It started to get old pr
Aurora paced her room. How could a big container just disappear into thin air? Her parents were working overtime to figure out what could have happened. They were barely getting sleep and had dispatched every one of their resources to find it. It had disappeared somewhere in the sea. It left Germany on the ship but then it got to New York, that container was gone. No one could figure out how such a large container just vanished. The entire crew was being held and questioned, the ship was being inspected and the cameras were being looked at. Not a detail to be missed. Her parents manufactured, sold, and bought weapons, and this one was filled with new, fresh out of the warehouse weapons. If it got into the wrong hands then it could be really bad. There was always the possibility that the waves knocked it overboard, but it was securely at
Everyone in the room crouched down to protect themselves, Aurora looked at the imposter and he took the chance to run away. She reacted quickly and ran after him. It seemed like she was the most competent person in the room who actually knew what Sean Gates looked like. Were people that dense? Did they just not care?He ran down the hallway and went to the elevator. Aurora immediately headed for the stairs. He would try to get out. And go where, she didn't know, but he would try to escape. She ran two flights of steps and when she got out 'Sean Gates' zoomed past her."Stop him!" she shouted. The building had stopped shaking and the people seemed to have recovered partially from the shock. It seemed like the explosion came from outside so there wasn't much damage to the building itself
The next day, she and Caden went shopping for expensive enough outfits to make it into the club. It wasn't like Aurora didn't have, but it was always a good idea to shop for more clothes. It was good for the economy. Her relationship with Caden was still a little awkward and there would be snide remarks between the two at times. He would insist that she was being too much and very spoilt and she would tell him that he just didn't understand how the world works when you have money."You don't need a five thousand dollar purse. We're just going that one night." Caden muttered."But it's so cute." Aurora looked it over. It was sparkled with its silver diamonds and had a sleek back covering under it. She knew that it was unnecessary but how could it be when it was so gorgeous.
Getting out of the house was also a problem. It was dark outside to sneaking out her way would have been possible if not for the clothes they were in. Aurora was in no way doing something like that in the dress she had on. They had to walk down to the garage without being caught. No one would question what she was doing but they may mention something to her parents and she did not want to have another serious conversation with them so soon. They took the same car as earlier and left without being seen. The windows were tinted so the guards could not see who was in the car when they drove out of the gate.It took twenty minutes for them to get to the club. There was already a long line of people waiting to get in. A lot of them didn't look expensive enough and the ones that did just walked in. When they got to the parking lot, someone to
