PROPERTY OF THE ALPHA PRINCE

CHAPTER 5: MEMORIES

Princess Era, hurried down the staircase, in her flowing royal gown, as she made her way to the throne room. Oh I am so dead; I am so dead. she muttered as she raced down the last fleets of stairs, as the maids, dusting the objects, moved out of the way to avoid her slamming into them. Not only would the princess get injured, but their heads would be on the stake.

Immediately, she reached the throne room, she stopped and took a deep breath, she could see her siblings standing outside the door, peeping in, through their secret hole in the wall. As soon as they saw, her, they stood upright, and pretended that they weren’t doing anything.

What are you guys up to? Princess Era asked as she held onto her knees, panting for breath.

Nothing, we aren’t doing anything, you on the other, hand is so dead, father has been calling you for minutes now, and you know how he is, when he gets cranky. Princess Annabella, the eldest among the three, exempting Era said.

I was in the garden; do you think that he would take that excuse? Era asked as she reached for the door handle.

You better pray, that the cranky old smelly king of Dun Brock would actually be useful, and makes sure that father doesn’t give you too much punishment. Prince Liam said, as they pushed her inside.

Immediately, she entered, the throne room, all eyes were turned on her, as she quickly comported herself and walked slowly, without faltering, to where her parents sat.

She reached the front, as she stopped and curtsied.

Good morning, my king. Good morning, mother. Era said sweetly, as she stood upright.

Where the hell have you been? King Gadreel thundered, his voice reverberating through the throne room.

Era gulped as she tried to think of a reasonable excuse when the queen, Queen Ingrid helped her saying;

How do you expect her to reply, when you keep on scaring her with such a harsh voice? Have you forgotten, that she is the heir apparent, and she obviously have a good reason for her to arrive late? Her step mother replied, admonishing the king, as Era nodded her head, agreeing to what the queen said.

Woman, I have told you times without number, do not interfere in anything concerning Era and I. I and I alone have the right to decide what I do with my daughter. King Gadreel snarled at the queen, as Era flinched from where she was.

She hurriedly shut her mouth, and kept mute. It was no use, explaining to her father, was like pouring water on a stone, strong headed, cold hearted, and proud hearted, her father was arrogant, intolerable and easily provoked, never listen to reasons, heartless and not caring.

Next time, I send for you, you are to appear in front of me, within five seconds or you will suffer terribly for standing me up. The king, said as she nodded her head.

Yes, my king. It won’t happen again. Era replied, curtsying once more.

Good, now take your seat, I have an important news for you, one that will make you so over joyous. He said gesturing to her seat, situated beside her mother. She went and sat down as she faced the royal council. She noted that some of them, were nodding their head, looking at her, as if they were agreeing about something concerning her. She looked through the crowd, she could see the Ruler of the Western Isles, King Tabitha, Ruler of the Southern Isles, King Abrade, but she couldn’t see the Ruler of the Northern Isles, yes, that is right, she almost forgot.

Her father, killed…… Princess Eraline, did you hear what I just said? King Gadreel asked loudly as Era quickly blinked, bringing herself to the present.

Yes, father, did you call for me? Era asked sweetly.

It seems that you have started daydreaming again, that silly habit of yours, have to stop, this instant. You are twenty-four for god damned sake, not a baby. Her father cursed as he banged his royal staff, twice on the wooden floor.

Just then, King Meden, ruler of Dun Brock cleared his throat loudly and said,

You don’t need to go all offensive on your daughter, King Gadreel, of course, she heard what you said, she is just trying to process the fact, that she is getting married to me.

Princess Era, almost threw up, when she heard it, but was able to control herself, rather she choked on her spit and started coughing.

Excuse me, my kings and esteemed royal council. I am afraid, that I didn’t get what King Meden said. Princess Era said as she stood up, facing the council.

Well, we agreed that it would be a good idea for you to get married to the king of Dun Brock, as it would strengthen the relationship and cordial support we get from them. King Gadreel said.

We? As in, mother and you? Era asked again, looking to the queen for explanation.

It was all your father’s idea; he is hell bent on getting you married to him. My hands are tied, after all. Queen Ingrid said, as she sighed deeply.

Father, this is all too sudden, I don’t think that…… Era started to say, when he raised his hand up, in the air, motioning for silence.

***************

Era gasped for air, as the harsh reality woke her up from her daydream, her bones were paining her, she felt it was broken, and by the amount of pains, it was a lot. She groaned as her eyes got used to the light coming in. she had a severe headache as she tried to remember what happened.

She had a lot of bruises, her clothes were stained with her blood, and her bones were broken. She shut her eyes as she remembered when the bad man said such horrible order.

She hears a voice which startled her, and just as she turned to see, what it was, she screamed, her voice piercing through every nook and cranny for hours
