Jared’s POV I laid on the alphas sofa my arm over my face. I could hear Storm…my luna weeping until she could weep no more. Diego asked me to take care of her and the boys and I would do just that. But until the boys were old enough I had to take over as acting alpha…I would never be the alpha Diego was but I would do what it took to make sure this pack ran smoothly. I would make sure we would get him back. One way or another. No matter how long it took. ‘Get out of your head.’ My wolf Zeus told me. ‘We need to make sure our Luna is fed. She has damn near lost her mate. She will need us to lean on.’I nodded and sat up going to the kitchen making something small. She would need to eat and I know she didn’t have the energy but she would need to pump as well so I could feed the boys when they woke. I threw something together and walked back to the room. Her breaths were slow and quiet, she had fallen asleep. I sat the tray I was holding down on a table and softly touched her shoulder.

Storms POVWe had gathered everyone in the mess hall of the pack house. They’re chatter was excruciating as it pounded in my head. I closed my eyes and touched my temples. Storms POV I was tossing and turning. Dreams running through my head. Images ran past my eyes in a blur. It was as if I was spinning around and around but then my mind stopped and settled. It started out completely black but then a tiny flame popped up in the distance. I walked towards it. The closer I got the bigger and hotter the flame burned and the more I could see. The fire it climbed up a building. People that looked like shadows were running frantically trying to get away but the fire it engulfed them. Finally I could hear, people were screaming and crying. Trying to escape in every direction. I followed the lines of fire they all went back to one spot. Someone was standing there head to the sky and arms to their sides. Jared’s POVI had put out SOS invites to all the nearby packs hoping they would respond with urgency. I asked them to meet in two days time we would be set up in the clearing. I kept raking my hands through my hair slamming my hands on the table. I could feel the hurt and anguish pouring in from Storm. She wasn’t trying to hide it. A part of me was grateful. We had a strong bond but she was always holding a part of herself back. One I would never blame her for though. I was thinking of her and the boys. I just wanted them to be safe. So many plans and arrangements would have to be made. If they found out we had left our pack unprotected would they come back for the boys? I certainly needed help guarding everything I loved here and what was right in front of me. I couldn’t let anything happen to Storm, I would stay by her side. Jared’s POVMy phone on the night stand began to buzz constantly. It pulled me out of my slumber. I fumbled for it my fingers finally making contact I looked at the screen squinting. They were messages from the main surrounding clans. They agreed to meet. Some even disclosed they had seen weird beings in red robes lurking about their territories, eyeing their pure members. Even sightings of Diego were being sent. I closed my eyes and exhaled then I peered over at Storm she was still fast asleep I gently stroked her hair for a moment. Then ventured out of bed as I heard the boys starting to coo as they were awake and screaming “dada” over and over in unison. Storm began to stir. She rolled over sleepy. “Where are you going?” She whispered. Storms POV The day was lovely. Not too hot and not too cold. I could feel the air rushing through my hair giving me new life. The boys giggled in their stroller at the birds, bees, butterflies that they saw. Just as soon as I felt at peace I heard footsteps coming quickly. My whole body tensed ready to attack but then I felt Jared’s presence. “What are you doing out here?” I wondered surprised. “I wanted to spend time with my family. With everything going on I’ve neglected it for far too long.” He then wrapped me up in his arms and buried his nose in my hair as he took a deep breath in. I felt not just mine but his tension as well leave our bodies. He let me out of his embrace and held my hand and together we pushed the stroller through the trails talking about when we were growing up, old friends, all the things we should have done so long ago but we got caught up in a whirlwind of chaos. As we ended our walk and made it back to the pack house I rested my head on Jared’s bicep.

It was loud as if they were angry. “Alpha don’t make me break down this door!” My Beta Jared yelled. “Go away and let me sleep!” I whined back. “It’s 3:30pm my dude. The ball starts at 7pm and it’s going to take us two hours to get there. Get your ripe ass up and go get ready I can smell you from behind this door.” He scolded me. “Piss off!” I threw a pillow at my door and groaned as I rolled out of bed. I wiped my hands across my face as my wolf Asher started doing circles inside my head. ‘Can you calm down in there I just woke up.’ I said. ‘No you need to get up and get going right now! I can feel something. I think we are meeting our mate today. You need to get ready!
