Maverick

I could still feel her pressed against my skin even if I wasn’t holding her anymore. I turned to find Odessa staring into nothingness with her hand covering her soft, plump lips.

Just watching her made me hard all over again.

“Good morning, Wildcat.”

She smiled, and her cheeks turned pink.

“Were you watching me sleep?”

“Guilty.”

I rolled onto my side and stroked her cheek.

“Does anything hurt?” I asked.

She lifted a shoulder. “I’m a little sore.”

We had three rounds last night. My fantasy of being buried deep inside her all night was fulfilled. Yet, I wanted more of her.

All that was left was to mark her as my mate. I wanted to announce her to the world.

“What time is it?” She asked.

I turned my phone off last night because I wasn’t going to the choosing ball. Everyone would have blown up my phone searching for me. I wasn’t keen on turning it on.

“You have to face the storm sooner or later,” Odessa said.

“Whose side are you on, Wildcat?”

“Ours.”

I liked the sound of that. The

Odessa POVTrying to get into the stadium was useless at this point. I could hear the music from the inside and the enthusiastic cheers. Despite my nerves, I was buzzing to be here!Sure, Maverick would be mad after the game, but he’d get over it, right?I hid my red hair under a black baseball cap, and I wore a huge dark jean jacket over my Daciana Wildcat T-shirt. I looked like several fans out here tonight.Besides, it was so dark you could barely see anyone’s face despite the floodlights spread across the parking lot. Even though we were wolves, it was more difficult to catch anyone’s scent. The scents out here were intoxicating; it almost gave me a headache. My plan was foolproof. My phone chimed with a notification.“Where are you?” Evyn texted.“I’m outside. There’s a jam at the front door. I’m on a hotdog line.”“Get me one.”I rolled my eyes playfully.“Fine.”I received my hot dog from the vendor and eyed a soda stand. I recognised a familiar blonde and immediately turned ar

Odessa POVHis hands roamed every inch of me, and it gave me the same buzz in my gut and floating sensation I had when he first touched me. At first, he searched for scars, then it turned into kisses that erased the fear.Soon, his mouth was on my nipples, giving each one adequate attention. I arched my back and buried my fingers in his hair.“I missed you so much, Wildcat. It feels like you were gone for months,” Maverick murmured.“We’re hopeless,” I replied. He smoothed my hair back and stared into my eyes.“I won’t deny that. I can’t stand to be separated from you. I’ve got a plan, though.”“Oh, another one of Alpha Maverick’s infamous plans. What is it now, babe?”“I pulled a few strings when you were asleep. I bought an apartment.”“You did?! So fast.”“Yeah. It’s not in my name, so it’ll be good. You’re going to stay there until this all blows over. No more herbs for the time being, Odessa.”“You don’t have to tell me twice about that,” I said, forming circles on his bicep.“If

Maverick POV“Maverick put me down, I’m not a pup,” Odessa whined through the mindlink.“No way.”“Where are we going?” She replied.“To get you cleaned up, Wildcat. I’m not sure I want to know how you got like this. Was anyone chasing you.”“Not exactly… I think I got carried away when I shifted. I didn’t want to get caught. I panicked when I heard you chasing me. Why were you chasing me?!”“I didn’t recognise you.”My wolf had her neck in his jaw, her hind legs dangled in the air as I took her to a river. She looked awful! I thought she had brown fur! Odessa was a white wolf. I brought her to the edge of the clear river and nudged her into the chilly water. She growled at me, but remained in the water.I shifted out of my wolf skin and towered over her.“Shift,” I ordered. Her wolf obeyed the command. I watched as fur retreated into her skin, and the petite wolf disappeared to reveal my mate. She wrapped her arms over her breasts and stared up at me.I breathed a sigh of relief.“Fu

Maverick POV“I should be anywhere but here,” I grumbled before I stormed into the Coach’s office.I kicked the door shut.Coach looked up from his paperwork and glared at me.“I know you’re the Alpha heir, but I’m the big guns around here.”“I don’t care! I shouldn’t be here.”“Enough, Maverick!” Coach yelled.Coach Manson stood. “I know you’re not in your right mind, but you have to get your head in the game. The Daciana Derby is in a few days.”“I can’t think of football when my mate’s out there.”“Maverick, your uncle came into my office and demanded I take you off the team.”“He did what?” I blasted.Hasn’t he done enough? First, he messes with my mate, and now he wants to mess with my career? This is beyond personal.“Listen, I know you’ll make a better Alpha than Seth. You’re a great captain, and you’ll make an even better Alpha. I told Seth to fuck off so my head might be on the line next.”I ran both hands through my hair. I wanted to yell and flip the table out of the window

Odessa POV“How did you find me there? It’s in the middle of nowhere?” I asked Ximena.I watched as she shut the windows and curtains of the motel room she took me to.“Well, I’ve been following you. I saw you get taken from your job. I lost you on your way to the black sight. I followed the guards back to the pack house, and that’s where I heard the coordinates and the Alpha’s orders. So you’ve got a boyfriend they don’t want you reuniting with.”She crossed her arms and grinned.I nodded. “He’s the Alpha heir. It’s a long story.”“That’s okay, we have so much time to talk!”She wrapped her arms around me and squeezed. This was more than weird. I just watched this woman kill four guards and kick like a professional fighter. I was still sceptical about us being related, but she came all this way to find me and saved my ass from the council and Alpha Seth. She deserved every ounce of my respect.“You look just like my mother! She was a looker. I sent so many letters.”“I only got one.
