Chapter 5

CHARLOTTE

Five years has passed by since I escaped death. Elder Gilbert blessed me with the title of Luna and Queen of Wolves. Sadly, the old man left this world in a natural way. May the goddess bless his soul.

Anaya became my beta and she's like a sister to me now.

As the Luna of Crystalline pack, I learned more about my past and the plans mom laid out for this pack. The little village from before has turned into a force to be reckoned with. Soon, the word has spread about the Queen of Wolves in the cold north.

My family is still small but we grew stronger over the years. Our pack's power competing against royal blooded packs such as Haven Blue, Golden Mist and Howling Savants. Several packs tried to offer an alliance with Crystalline pack, but I turned them away without meeting them.

"Luna, there are rogue sightings along the riverside. What should we do?" Anaya reported.

"Continue to observe them. We are not sure if there are larger groups hiding around." I answered. 

I have long eliminated the rogue group who once attacked this pack. However, these rogues are newer ones and I'm not sure how many are they. These pests came out from nowhere. 

Someone knocked on my office door and came the messenger, Boris. He's been delivering all of my messages since the day I took over the pack. A reliable and discreet guy who's loyalty falls heavily on to his Luna. Not even the threats from famous packs can force Boris to spit out my identity.

"May the goddess bless you," Boris bowed, a traditional greeting that every Crystalline member does whenever their Luna is nearby. "I received a letter from the Moon Council. They wish to invite you to the annual Moon Ball. The elders would also like to invite you to the assembly regarding the rampant rogue sightings all around the world." he reported.

An assembly huh? That means Alphas and Lunas from all around the world will be gathered in one place. I care less of the useless Moon Ball but the rogue conference piqued my interests. I could use this opportunity to reveal a little bit of myself and debut my presence to other packs.

"Do you have any comments on that, Anaya?" I asked her.

"I know you're not a fan of the Moon Ball, but we can use this opportunity to intensively select a few allies. However, after the ball would be the Canine Olympics. We have about one week to complete the task. With the rogue attacks and sightings, it is the best option for us to build alliances." Anaya replied.

"I see...that sounds like a great idea, but I don't have high hopes to earn an alliance from other packs. There are certain packs who are interested in our crystalline gemstones." I replied.

Crystalline is a precious gemstone that grows in the Northern mountains, specifically my pack's territory. It's history dates back to the Moon goddess and rumored to contain remnants of her powers within the crystalline gemstones. 

I mustn't place those gemstones in the wrong hands. Especially those damn rogues! 

"Boris, tell the Moon Council to expect my attendance. Now, we must prepare ourselves to face the world." 

My pack has grown over the years and I made sure we were strong enough to compete against Haven Blue pack. The pain and suffering I experienced in the past is still there. I'll make pay back those who betrayed me!

THE MOON BALL

The party is in full swing with different pack leaders gathered today to celebrate the Moon goddess' night. Everyone chattered excitedly as the royal car entered the driveway. It's the Haven Blue pack, one of the strongest packs and the royal family itself! 

Alpha Caleb got out of the car and took Angelica's arm with him. 

"But I do have to admit. Alpha Alexios is way stronger than Haven Blue pack itself. He's strong and ruggedly handsome, I heard he's still mateless." the women chattered at the corner. 

Caleb frowned upon hearing them comparing him to his uncle. He was annoyed but maintained decorum and didn't call them out. 

Meanwhile, I watched from afar. The people who betrayed me. I coldly stared at them while everyone was busy admiring the 'powerful' couple. 

"Alpha, its our turn." Anaya said. 

I nodded and readied myself. I'm currently adorned in a white dress with baby blue accents. However, my head is covered with a hood and a short veil falling over to my eyes. 

"The Alpha of Crystalline pack!" the servant announced to the whole room. 

Everyone immediately turned silent. Eager and curious to meet the famous female Alpha. The woman who is called the Queen of  Wolves because of her ability to control the wolf's spirit. Her kind is the closest relative to the Moon Goddess herself. 

I stepped into the ballroom. My aura assessing everyone. My eyes landed on Caleb and Angelica, my lips turned into a mocking smirk. 

A lot of years has passed...I'm back to avenge the pain they inflicted on me.
