Chapter 2

CHARLOTTE

My Luna training began the day after Caleb's future reading. In two weeks, the pack will be holding his coronation ceremony. Time is running thin but I believed in the secret Luna training I took with mom in the past.

Even if she's no longer with me I can remember what she taught me.

Only Angelica was given a teacher for her Luna training. I asked dad if I'll ever get one but he seems to have forgotten about it, his first daughter got pushed in the back of his head. I ignored the pain of his ignorance and didn't push further.

While everyone was cheering on Angelica's success. I went to the backyard and watered the beautiful primrose. These flowers were planted by mom before she passed away. I've been taking care of them ever since.

As I poured water over the flowers. I scented something beautiful and it made my body heat up. I sniffed in the air and dropped the water hose as I followed the scent.

The smell came from the second floor and I did not hesitate to follow my senses. Is this what they called the 'mating symptoms'? One of the most common signs of finding a mate is smelling their scents.

My heart thumps with excitement as I stop in front of Caleb's room. H-He is my mate?

I opened the door without knocking. I was giddy and couldn't wait to tell him that I'm his mate. However, weird noises sounded out as I entered his room.

I found Caleb on top of a woman. They were in their underwear and kissing torridly in front of my eyes. My little wolf howled when she detected her mate as Caleb's, but a strong pain can be felt underneath her voice.

"C-Caleb?" I whispered out his name. My heart was breaking to pieces as the woman underneath him came out to be Angelica.

"W-What are you doing here!?" Caleb exclaimed but paused when he scented our mate bond.

"Charlotte! Get out! Don't ruin my moment with the prince! I'm the future Luna so you should follow my orders." Angelica demanded.

"B-But he's my mate. Angelica, how could you?" My heart shattered even more when Angelica hugged Caleb. He didn't push her away.

"You're mate? Don't lie, Charlotte. See this ring? Caleb proposed to me and we're getting married after his Alpha ceremony." My sister showed me a beautiful ring. A wedding ring passed down by royals to their mated partners.

My wolf growled as Angelica continued touching my mate. Caleb was alarmed and pushed Angelica away. He clothed himself and pulled me out of the room. Bringing me to the backyard and pushed me against the wall.

"I'm so sorry, Char. I didn't know we would be mates!" Caleb explained. "My parents pressured me to propose to Angelica. It wasn't intentional!"

I stared into golden eyes but the scene of his intimacy with Angelica overpowered my mind.

"You promised me, Caleb. That we'll be mates! How could you betray our promise? Betray us?" I shouted back at him. My anger clouding my rationality.

"We were kids! I never really expected us to be fated mates! Look, I know everything is a mess right now but I'll make it up to you okay?"

My poor wolf wanted to believe him but my heart hesitated. And so I did the biggest mistake I've ever made. I placed my trust in him. That I'll be able to get my mate back and that he'll love me back.

His promise was left hanging for a week until the day before the Alpha ceremony. I angrily knocked on Caleb's door, begging for answers. He's been avoiding me since that day. I rarely see him around while I have to deal with Angelica's lies.

Angelica was spreading rumors that I was a weakling and that my wolf was small and skinny. As much as I wanted to reject those lies but it is the truth. My wolf, Snow, is indeed weak.

Soon, more terrible rumors about me spread throughout the pack and to the neighboring packs. What's worse is that everyone knows that I'm Caleb's fated mate.

The door finally opens but this time a naked and completely sated Angelica was lying down on his bed. My eyes watered as I glared at Caleb. His betrayal completely broke me.

"What is that weakling doing here? Caleb, my love. When will you reject her?" Angelica snickered. Her hands snaked over my mate. "You need a strong Luna and Charlotte is unable to give you that. Also, I'm pregnant with your baby. I'm carrying the future heir of the pack."

I gasped and all of my rationality went out of the window. I growled and stomped towards Angelica. Grabbing her by the hair and scratching her with my claws.

"You b*tch! You got everything, my dad, my mate and now my title as his Luna! What more do you want from me!?" I screamed and attacked Angelica.

"Charlotte, stop it!" Caleb pushed me off Angelica. My head hits the dresser and it bled.

Pain flashes through my heart. Caleb chose Angelica over me.

"C-Caleb, she tried to kill our baby! Boohoo!" Angelica cried.

Everyone heard of the fight and came over to check what happened. The King, Alpha Lewis, Princess Victoria and dad came rushing in.

"Mom!" Angelica cried and reached out her arms. Princess Victoria immediately ran to her daughter's side.

"What have you done to my daughter!?" she growled at me.

"She attacked me and tried to harm our baby!"

"This is an act of crime, Charlotte! Why are you trying to attack your sister? She's carrying the future heir of the pack!" Dad shouted and I flinched.

"Guards! Arrest this traitor!" Alpha Lewis ordered.

I shook my head. "Dad...dad...please you can't let them throw me to prison!" I begged and crawled towards my father.

He shook his head. His eyes filled with disappointment. "This is too much, Charlotte. She's your sister and I never expected that from you, I'm sorry."

My mind went blank and my heart turned to stone. My father, the only one who has truly loved me, turned his back on me. I have no one left.

The events flashed before my eyes until I stared at the bricked walls of the basement cells of the pack. They chained my limbs with wolfsbane metal and I can feel it weakening my wolf.

Weariness overpowered my body as I laid down and cried my heart out.

I'm alone and lost. Dad's loyalty went to his new family, but never with me.

My cries echoed in the darkness until the pain forced me to pass out.
