LOGINFreya's POV:
I glanced up at him in shock and felt tears well up in my eyes due to the tiny joy that filled my heart. “Lord Lu- “Her father is my debtor and the fool that was in charge of her sold her off without my permission, so I'm collecting my property back. If you need your money, go to your dealer, although I'm not sure if you'll be allowed to own a pet anymore.” Never in my life did I think I would ever be referred to as a property and I wouldn't have a say in whatever was going on. William opened his mouth then closed it before he narrowed his eyes at me, making me squirm and hide behind this Lucien. “Of course, my Lord.” It was a surprise to me that William didn't put up a fact, considering how precious my blood was to him. I had been so carried away with my thought that I didn't notice when Lucien bent down until he carried me in his hands. I let out a sound of surprise but didn't struggle against him because I was scared that it would give William the chance to fight for ownership over me. His scent invaded my nostrils and reminded me of my pills with the way it calmed me down almost immediately. “I'll take my leave now.” With that statement, Lucien walked out of William's home and entered the familiar black car which was parked not far away. Different questions crossed my mind: Why was he here? Did he decide to rescue me or was it all just a coincidence? Lucien stood from where he was sitting even though the car was moving and hovered over me, invading my personal space in the process. I tried to move away but he kept on coming closer until his tongue found my punctured neck. I went still when I realised that even though I'd been on the verge of dying at the hands of William, he had never sexually assaulted me. “Done,” I heard him mutter before he moved back to his seat but not before placing his coat on me. My hand found my way to my neck and realised that the bleeding hole had been sealed shut. I stared at him for a long time and took note of the red pendant that was hanging on his white shirt. This was the first time I had the opportunity to assess his features and I managed to notice how defined his jaw line was. He seemed to have noticed that I had my eyes on him because he soon turned to give me a sharp glare that made me divert my eyes in guilt. The rest of the journey was quiet after that little… whatever weird stuff had happened, and I had barely just managed to find sleep amidst the pain I felt when I felt a tap on my thigh. “We're home,” Lucien announced with a bored tone. I was a bit disoriented at first, but when I was finally myself, I glanced outside and noticed that we were in front of the same ginormous building that I was in a few days ago. With a sigh, I clumsily stepped outside and tried to convince myself that it was better to be locked up than constantly getting blood drained out of me. “Turn around," Lord Lucien, who was standing behind me, commanded and I did as he said without looking twice. A strand of hair that had been in place moved when he tilted his head downwards and picked up my hands that were still bound in chains. Was he going to lose my chains? I didn't want to hope too much but joy soon filled my chest when he did exactly that. “God,” I whispered in relief as I twisted my red and swollen wrist. I looked up to thank him, but the words got caught in my mouth when I noticed his clenched jaw and his eyes on my wrist. “Let's go.” He continued to stare at my hand even after his statement and it was starting to get uncomfortable for me, so I walked ahead of him. “Slaves never walk ahead of their master.” His statement made me come to a halt until he caught up with me, gave me a glance, then walked up ahead of me. This was my life now and I had to accept it, so I followed him quietly. “You bought her?” I heard a woman's voice, but Lucien's tall figure was obstructing my view. “I had to,” Lucien answered calmly compared to the woman, although his body was rigid. Did he really have social skills issues? “You keep growing a soft spot for all these slaves, Lucien.” The exasperation in her tone wasn't my business, but the level of familiarity was. It made me more curious to see who it was and what type of relationship they had. “We are not having this conversation.” Lucien seemed to be done with having a conversation with her, so he moved out of her way and kept walking, so I followed suit. From the curtain that my hair had firmed, I tried to get a glance at her appearance and what I saw made my breath hitch. She was the red-haired woman who had hit the teenager the other time and to make matters worse… we made eye contact. I wasn't sure if i was overthinking things but it seemed like she had caught me staring and something about it was unnerving. I had been so carried away by the thought of the woman that I didn't realise when Lucien came to a stop, so I bumped into him. I quickly muttered an apology when he looked back with a brow raised and surprisingly, that was the end of it. The place we were in was an enclosed space with only a few slaves compared to the hall filled with slaves, vampires and probably high-ranking humans. I looked around and noticed that we were in a place that seemed like a… kitchen? “Lord Lucien,” a woman appeared from a corner that I had not really noticed. She seemed to be covered in flour and, unlike all the people I've come across so far, it felt safe around her for some reason. She glanced at me and gave me a smile before she pulled out a seat. I wasn't sure if it was for me, but since Lucien made no move to take it, I happily did because my legs ached. “I bought…” He seemed to be antisocial, but something told me that there was more to the story, especially when the woman nodded wordlessly. “What's your name honey?” The woman asked me sweetly. From my side view, I could see that Lucien subtly had his eyes on me but I wasn't sure why. There was no way he would be curious enough to know a mere human’s name. “Fr- My throat hurt from yelling for so many days that I started to cough. In the blink of an eye, the woman placed a cup of water in my hand and I gratefully gulped the whole content and even choked twice. “Freya,” I finally replied and handed the cup to her with my dirty hands that had left an imprint. She collected it without any hint of disgust and said, “My name is Nora.” Nora. Her brown eyes that were just a bit darker than mine made her seem so warm that I wanted to hug her and cry in her arms. “Take care of her injuries then put her to work,” Lucien said, interrupting the moment of silence. I turned to look at him but only a little breeze was left in his wake, which wasn't a surprise since he wasn't human. “Come now,” Nora said and stretched her hand, which I took without hesitation.Freya's POV:My eyes darted away as I stared into space. I could feel my cheeks get hot and my palms sweaty.“I-i don't know what you're talking about,” I muttered.Duncan let out a chuckle that made me look a bit in his direction for just a split second. What does he think of me? He clearly saw what I had done with Lucien the other day.I wanted to tell him that I wasn't promiscuous, but the words refused to come out.“If you say so,” he said.I should have been relieved that he dropped it, but it didn't sit right with me. I pressed my hands against my knees to stay quiet. It didn't work. “It's not what you're thinking.”Duncan's eyes stayed on me as he played with his lips. I couldn't keep up anymore with the deafening silence and looked away.“What do you think is going on in my head?” he asked and I froze. His face was blank, so trying to figure out what he was thinking was useless.“That I'm promiscuous,” I muttered in barely a whisper.I looked away when his expression didn't ch
Freya's POV:The ceremony started once the sun set and the moon rose. It was a full moon and from what Sopgie had told me they held this ceremony whenever there was a full moon.“Sit here and don't move around unnecessarily,” Sophie had instructed before she joined the procession.I was currently obeying her instruction although I was getting weird glances. At first I wondered why until I realised that all slaves sat behind. I wanted to move but for some reason, it felt like Sophie had her eyes on me from where she was seated.“Who gather here to worship the loon goddess,” the Alpha started. He seemed to have a limp that wasn't obvious if he didn't move around a lot.The elders were right behind him while the Alpha's family sat in front.I didn't recognise any other person apart from Duncan and Sophie. Bruno wasn't here.It was as if he didn't exist and everyone seemed to find it normal.I had waited for one of the side gossips but it never came. “We worship her for giving us victo
Freya's POV:We're trying to send you back to your world. My heart went still at that moment as I stared at him blankly.“W-what do you mean by that?” I finally croaked out, talking a large gulp of nothing.Duncan sat forward, his brows etched as he looked conflicted.I was supposed to be happy so why wasn't I? This was literally the best time to leave this fucked up place.“Freya…” he started but trailed off.I watched him rub his hand over his face, waiting for his response. “Things are going to get really awful here and you might lose your life,” he finally said, looking me straight in the eyes.I clenched my hands resting on my thighs to maintain composure.“And things might turn out good if you and Lord Lucien stop hiding things from me,” I muttered.I could feel my eyes wavering so I looked away, staring at the door.I heard Duncan let out a deep sigh and some shuffling. Within a minute, he was standing right in front of meI went still with my eyes wide open. This was the firs
Lucien's POV:“What did he do to you?” I asked in a whisper, my eyes wide open as I stared at her.Mother was supposed to be very old and close to death but she was the opposite. If no one knew her, she would pass as my sister. She bowed her head as if covered in shame and picked on her finger. My hands that were on the cell gate shook violently.“I'm going to kill him,” I said with anger, my eyes refusing to stay in one place. Her skin wasn't only fresh but also had red spots from the sunlight. I knew that was painful because it took a while for me to get used to my new life.“Lucien, wait.” Her fragile hand held me down and even though I could have pulled away, I didn't. My heart ached for who she was now because I knew the repercussions. “Why are you stopping me from tearing him apart?” I asked with a sigh, refusing to look at her.She tugged on my shirt but I stayed still. I could have stopped this if I confronted him earlier. The pain I felt made my lungs lock up and I couldn'
Freya's POV:“Sophie, I'm so sorry about it,” I said immediately we got into the room. She didn't utter a word around and just kept pacing around, making me anxious. The only thing I could do was play with my dress. “Why did you go there?” The glare she threw my way made me shrink back.“I…” there was no excuse I could give. I knew that I wasn't supposed to be there so I couldn't feign ignorance. It might even annoy her more.“Duncan needs to hear about this,” she muttered to herself. My eyes went wide, not knowing how to react. It felt like a good thing but I couldn't shake off the feeling. I didn't say a word and watched her bring out a cellphone which left me a bit shocked. I would have probably asked her questions about where she got one if the situation was different.“Duncan, I'm bringing your mate to you,” she said the moment he picked up.She didn't wait for him to say a word before she ended it and turned to me. My back straightened immediately and I kept my hands folded i
Lucien's POV:“Have you gotten it?” Duncan asked, breathing heavily through the line.I glanced at the pass in my hand and twirled it before lying, “No.”“Why hasn't he given you though?”Ignoring his question, I brought up the reason I had called him. “How is Freya?”The line went silent for so long that I had to take the phone from my ear in confusion. We were still connected.“Duncan?” I called.I had an idea of what the silence meant but I still wanted him to admit it.“I really don't know,” he said with a distressed tone.I was relieved but pissed at the same time. I knew better than to show it because I wasn't any better than him.“Why?” He has been avoiding her the same way I've been doing. My eyes drifted to the pass once more and I let out a sigh at the same time Duncan did the same.“You have the pass, don't you?” It wasn't a surprise that he had caught on but that didn't mean I was going to admit it.The door to my study opened and I glanced up, my heart falling immediate
Lucien's POV: I squished on it, watching the bodily fluid ooze out of it as I waited for the guard’s arrival.I hated this place a lot, but I had no choice… not when Freya was in Duncan's custody and I knew what they were, or at least, I had a hunch. There was a possibility that I was wrong, but I
Freya's POV:“Are you my brother's new whore?” She asked with a smirk.I didn't know if the fact that Duncan had a sister was more shocking than the fact that she looked nothing like him. There seemed to be no hostile air around her, but I didn't want to conclude so quickly. She walked towards the
Lucien's POV:“She's not back,” the servant before me said, his voice quivering as if he was cold.I dropped my pen down, completely expressionless as I stared at him. He bowed his head lower, scared of meeting my eyes.Only one person had that much audacity and thankfully, he was in his pack.“Wha
Freya's POV:It looked oddly familiar.A squint was enough for me to remember where I was. I was back at home. Was this real? It looked real, but how could I be so sure when my new friend wasn't even real? There was no way I was going to ever trust myself anymore. The sitting room was just like
