All eyes suddenly turned towards her, with the girls abandoning what they were doing.

Elowyn twitched upon seeing what she had caused.

If only she had kept her mouth shut. Now she had unintentionally drawn these girls’ curiosity and she was about to suffer for it.

“Hehe, Elo, Elo. Is it the gala or the man you are attending with?” Bryssa teased, adjusting her posture, from sleeping to sitting.

There was no way she was going to sleep on this.

Lizzy chuckled as she put the phone away and looked at Elowyn with a melon eating expression that urged, ‘go on!’

Elowyn looked helpless at these friends who were quite nosy but in a good way that she didn’t dislike.

“You guys ….. don’t you have something to do?”

Bryssa chucklingly looked at her, her gaze filled with an amused glint that spoke volumes and responded, “this is something worthy to do. We are talking about our friend’s happiness here. Come on! Spill the beans. What is happening between the two of you?” her tone tinged with curiosity.

While Kayden’s feelings for Elowyn were as clear as day, Elowyn’s feelings were still obscure nd unreadable. As friends, they have a privilege. They could ask and know in advance.

Wasn’t that pretty nice?

Seeing that her friends were quite adamant on this, Elowyn knew that it was impossible to run away from this matter that night.

She couldn’t help but think about Kayden and found herself smiling unconsciously, and that was seen by the two girls who were pretty much eager to know the story in details.

“Yo, yo, yo! It seems that our dear lady is in love!” Bryssa made a comeback again, teasing Elowyn with a cheeky grin on her face.

Elowyn’s face flushed as she got teased and bared her teeth at Bryssa which didn’t do much to the other.

“Come on! Give us a little,” Lizzy chirped in, her curiosity killing her.

Rolling her eyes at them, Elowyn asked indignantly, “are you that curious?”

“Yes! We are,” the girls both responded, making Elowyn resigned to her fate.

What did she feel for Kayden?

That was indeed a very good answer.

She couldn’t help but sigh, thinking about that before starting to speak her mind. These girls were her friends, and what they have done together as a trio was something that bonded them forever.

What was scary talking about boys with them?

Perhaps, she could get some of her murky thoughts cleared and see properly. After all, there was that saying that those not involved see things properly than those in the situation.

Perhaps, she could really get the insights she was lacking.

With that in mind, she started sharing.

“Honestly, I am not that sure,” she sighed as she voiced out her worries and insecurity first.

“As you know, I have had it bad in the past and when I think of being in love and committing, I get scared. I am afraid that after I put my whole heart into it, things will turn out for the worst for me.”

When it comes to love, Elowyn believes in being sincere. She didn’t want to date for the sake of a fling. She didn’t have the luxury time for such things. It felt like a waste of time and also, she would be the one on the losing end.

If she was just a pure human being, who was clueless about her origin, perhaps, she would date, break up and so forth until she settles down with someone who really cared for her.

however, that wasn’t the case anymore.

Back then, she got rejected and humiliated after spending so much effort for three good years. She sacrificed so much just to be with him and yet because of a mate bond, he threw her to the side like a used rag. He didn’t even care about the feelings that they both shared during the period when the so-called mate was who knows where.

When he was hurting, it was her, who was by his side and healed him. And yet because of that god darn bond, everything was lost and she was the only one who suffered.

Although it was something that she had to experience to awaken her inheritance, it just hurt so much. it made her have trust issues and blocked her heart from the matters of love.

She wasn’t truly cold towards love, just that she was scared.

What if she falls deeper and end up getting hurt in the future? Would she be able to take it?

Would she tolerate another betrayal or breakup again?

The two girls sighed as they listened to that. Being Elowyn’s best friends, they were in the know-how of what happened to her. Although, they still didn’t know the identity of the Alpha who hurt Elowyn, they could understand her reservations towards love. However, that wasn’t the way to go.

“Babe, we understand that you were hurt and its not something that someone your age should have gone through. Being a supernatural comes with its pros and cons. Honestly, sometimes it just bothers me. Why are we forced into these bond mates’ situations? Can’t we just fall for whoever we want and be done with it?

Unfortunately, that’s how harsh the reality is like. But I stopped caring about what fate has in store for me a very long time. I would rather live my life however I want it, so that I won’t have any regrets,” Lizzy spoke, using her own experiences as examples.

Bryssa nodded, agreeing to Lizzy as she added, “Love is quite complicated. But we should always give it a try. Regretting not having done something hurts more than anything else.”

“But …...” she sighed deeply as she looked at her friends, feeling like they didn’t understand what she was saying, “You guys, what I fear is giving my heart to him and then the next day, boom, his mate comes around. What do you expect me to do when that happens?”

Kayden was quite a catch, and so many women had their eyes on him. She had seen that during the several times she had accompanied him to the family gala.

He currently didn’t have a mate, but that wouldn’t always be the case. Every single werewolf had a mate somewhere. Be it from the same species or others, he or she was there. That was something that couldn’t change.

She once believed that love could heal anything and was powerful to overturn the impossible. But reality slapped her hard.

For a woman who wasn’t around for three good years, she lost everything and he even …… if that could happen to her once, what would stop that from happening ever again?

In order to stop herself from getting hurt and manipulated because of bond mates, she severely cut off any bond. Of course, it was painful as heck. After all, she went against fate, but she didn’t want to manipulated and controlled into being with someone she didn’t feel love for but got drawn towards to because that’s what has been fated for her.

While she could do that, other people couldn’t.

He might be sincere today and loving her truthfully but who knows when that mate finally shows up?

What would she do?

Must she always end up suffering?

Elowyn generously waved her hand at Sara, understanding how tough it must be for this human.“It’s not a problem. It would have been worse if we haven’t showed up. Now that would have looked like we have just diched the plan and not kept to our promise. Thank you for coming over.”“As long as you find no fault. I am grateful.”After Sara made her own statement, Melinda also got down to hers.“Um, I miscalculated my period days. I was wondering if you have any extra pads or something. Anything for me to pass the night until its morning,” she shyly stated her course, and Sara finally understood why she was acting like that. But there were other campers at the site, why not go to them but to Elowyn?Elowyn didn’t have such thoughts as Sara. This was simply so ….. ahhh, I hope that we won’t come across such scum in the future!” Lizzy disgustedly spoke, recalling the situation she saw in that basement.Elowyn chuckled as she walked towards the bathroom and answered, “such scum will never disappear. What we can do is continue to strive to eliminate them. If possible, find the real masterminds and rid of them.”Both girls nodded to that and watched as Elowyn stripped herself clean before entering the bathroom.“I think that we should start looking into the law enforcement as well. If we can’t afford to reveal ourselves, then at least getting rid of these filthy people, who use the law for their own wishes, would suffice. At least, we will be able to discreetly send evidence to them and let them do the job on our behal
