Alex's POV(…a horrible visit) The giant fisted on the grip of the captive as he held on tight to Alex’s neck, who had begun to feel giddy. Alex could only hear the hungry growl of the creature behind him and felt someone pulling his suspended legs. An explosive sound vibrated the walls and he dropped immediately to the cracked floor. Alex instinctively crawled away from the bars as he massaged the sharp pain in his neck. Although the injury closed up almost instantly, he still felt the tightness around his neck. Charles helped him back to his feet as Alex beheld the creature that tried to strangle him to death. The giant had struck him with a temporary shot that made it lay still in its cell. “They can smell fresh blood”, the Giant remarked in a deep coarse voice as he watched Alex. “This particular one”, he pointed at the creature, “has been here for over fifty years. There are other ferocious ones than it but not in this section. Sorry about the attack”, he apologized.Alex nodd
Alex's POV(…a suspicious unfold)Alex froze as soon as she spoke. He made eye contact with the Luna, who gave him a thoughtful look before walking away and leaving him to handle the situation by himself.“You had a fight with the Luna?”, she asked, watching the Luna exit their sight. Alex sighed heavily, trying hard to snap out of the shock. The Luna killed Sherlyn. How improper?“Alex?”, Lucia was forced to wriggle his hands to draw back his attention. “It’s nothing to worry about. The usual mother and son disagreement”, he replied, excusing himself from the scene.“You’re hiding things from me again”, Lucia hissed at the back. “Can’t you just be straight forward for once?”Alex continued his way out without turning around .“You worry too much, Lucia. Give yourself a break”, he responded flatly. She grunted. ***The alpha sat alone at the table, helping himself to a plate of French toast and a cup of coffee smoothie. Alex bowed before pulling out a seat for himself. The Alpha
Alex's POV(…a hidden curse) “Son”, the Alpha called out to Alex from the passenger’s seat—he sat beside the driver, “Are you also of the popular notion that my judgements are too brutal?”Alex thought for a second, before replying, “No, father. I’ve never known you to be partial. Whatever an offender receives from you must have been duly deserved” “I’m surprised to hear that from you. Your reaction to my verdict at the dungeon said otherwise”, the Alpha remarked, returning Alex’s glance in the rare mirror. “We have a pending discussion, son”, since your mother wouldn’t tell me, I’ll love to hear directly from you”Alex’s heart had begun its usual sprint. It happens mostly when the Alpha spoke suspenseful. “If you could remember, during the days of my brief illness, I asked a question. I still await your reply.”Alex was wrong to have thought his father didn’t notice his absence when he was bedridden. He inhaled slowly, to suppress the movement of his panting heart. He had to say s
Alex's POV(…deadly mission)Alex stood in the shower for hours. The distance of the dungeon and its gloom was scary in the day, how much more at night? The Luna had warned him about Sherlyn after saving him from his father’s wrath. Lucia was overly worrisome—she might raise another alarm. Here he was, thinking of another flight—and not just an ordinary flight, the release of a prisoner, for the sake of a banished member. An impossible venture it seemed. He brushed his wet hair countlessly, making frequent bubbles with the streams of water flowing to the parting of his lips.If only the maid hadn’t escaped, he wouldn’t have so much worry. An alternative solution lit in his head. What if he tries to convince the Alpha from killing him to buy him time for a well thought-out plan? But he had no valid reason for such suggestions. It was pointless—he either backs out completely and allow Sherlyn continue suffering for his mistakes or bring more troubles upon himself—he had always blamed h
Alex's POV(…one last mission) As he drew closer, the werewolf began sniffing the air, as though he could pick a scent. Alex paused for a while. It didn’t seem like a regular rogue and its size made him doubt his ability to overpower it. It continued deep into the forest on its four limbs. Alex followed behind, calculating his first move. Although it showed no form of aggressiveness judging by the stealth in its movement, Alex hoped to launch a perfect attack. Alex paused again as it made another piercing howl.Just before it drooped back its raised head, Alex slammed his two fists on its back. Its cry vibrated the silence of the night. It pulled away from the weight of Alex’s body and turned around towards him. Its eyes glowed brighter as it attempted a pounce on him. Alex dodged the attack and decided to switch to his special powers. He zapped its four limbs with the tips of his now-pointy fingers. It fell to the forest grounds immediately, wriggling vigorously. He had no intention
Alex's POV(…a tragic end)He sealed up the place and headed to the extreme ends of the region. He came across a lot of armored vehicles scattered all-over but, linked it to the tight security the alpha spoke about earlier. There’s no greater joy than accomplishing an impossible task. He applauded himself. The increasing convergence of cop cars and hunters around made him drive further away from the region's borderlands till he arrived at a safe spot to discard the rogue without arousing suspicion. He alighted from the vehicle and moved towards the trunk. He didn’t need the potion after all. He opened up the car trunk but froze on the spot after setting eyes on the body. He hit himself severally to confirm his consciousness. It was impossible. A sudden cold filled the whole of his organs from within, as he began to shiver. “That’s impossible”, he kept saying to himself, panting around like a bereaved psychopath. He continued to wander, returning to the trunk periodically as though
Alex's POV(…a second chance)He knelt before her at the front porch of the palace, on arrival from the Alpha’s burial. “Permit me to make it up to you. I'll renew my oaths to you again, if you want. I promise to keep nothing secret from you, henceforth”. Lucia removed her sunglasses, exposing puffy, reddish eyelids that drooped feebly.“I'm not bothered by the errors you made. You know what really irritates me, Alex? The time you put off making amends till the Alpha's demise. Not me…the Luna should receive your apology. Such a costly apology, she muttered before entering. He experienced a wave of humiliation as it sapped a significant amount of his pride to sink thus low. She could be correct, he reasoned. The Luna must be battling a mental collapse. The loss of a mate can be maddening. He remembered how Sherlyn’s rumored death made him feel at the time—he lost his sense of reasoning. He hoped the Luna doesn't go through his kind of torture. He had to wait for her arrival as she was
Alex's POV(…the prisoner's recount)Alex sat still in a small office, listening to list of dos and donts suggested by the doctor as he wondered if the growing fetus was some kind of demi God that demanded so much for its arrival.Lucia seemed better and more cheerful after the tests were conducted. They headed out of the building after a few medications were prescribed. The Luna pulled Alex backwards and whispered, “she might begin to behave a little different. Don't be too surprised. You've to be understanding. She needs you more than ever”“I've you for all of that, Mother”, Alex replied with a smile as he kissed her forehead while a guard assisted her into the black luxury vehicle. The death of the Alpha had made Alex more servile to the Luna than previous years. He suddenly remembered the locked up prisoner that no one seemed to care about and excused himself.“I need to rush down to the mall”, he remarked to them.“It's not time for baby stuffs, Alex”, the Luna teased.
