Chapter 10

The songs of the dancing birds in the sky filled the morning air.

Simon rose up with a start, dusting the ants off his body.

The morning sun penetrated through the trees, almost blinding him. Using his palm, he shielded his face from getting burnt by the hot sun.

The sun was hot, but it was not compared to the burning sensation he felt in his head.

He moved his neck side to side to ensure it hasn't become stiff.

The incident of the previous night flooded into his head. The last thing he remembered was a heavy object landing at the back of his head.

He instantly became dizzy. After taking hold of a branch of a tree, he sat down and felt his head with his palm. There was a bump there, but the pain was bearable for him.

He took more glances over his body and found bruises and nicks all over his skin.

"These bruises would take time to heal." He sighed.

Sure that he had gathered some energy, he stood up to find a way out of the forest.
