The Rejected Luna

KYRA’S POV

My feet dug on the gray earth, shooting pains up my legs. I couldn’t stop because there was no way to stop. Everywhere looked like one giant cubicle, even though I was in the middle of the woods.

I had no idea where I was going, all I knew was that I had to go to the surface, I needed to see the plain area and not the forestry.

“Run, Kyra, Run!”

My wolf urged me and it propelled me, creating a false sense of emergency. I jumped over a thick log of wood in my haste.

I was about to trip, but her voice came again, and I somehow made myself run faster than before, my heart panting wildly.

This time, I said the word, ‘Run’ with my wolf and it propelled me forward, and then I tripped as three figures surrounded me, cackling like maniacs.

My first instinct was to run but I've already done that and it didn't turn out well.

“Cindy is gonna love this,” one of the figures said, giggling.

The three girls dragged me by my hair as they pulled me roughly from the ground.

“Please!” I whimpered.

“Shut up, slave!” the second girl growled, baring her fangs at me.

I whimpered as they kept grabbing my hair and making my knees scrape against the hard forest floor.

That would leave a mark or two. Add to the other numerous scars I've received from these people.

“You shouldn't have run away, slave. Now, you've just made Cindy really mad,” the third girl chuckled.

I sobbed softly, “I didn't mean for it to happen. It was an accident.”

“Have you forgotten your place in this pack?!” they growled at me.

I shook my head and lowered my eyes quietly then kept quiet and resigned myself to my fate. I wonder what Cindy would do to me this time.

It's not like anything she does now would be worse than before but it hurts that no one would stop her from hurting me.

I didn't beg them to take me into their pack. I was rescued by Alpha Hades and his beta when I was three months old. It took two weeks for me to recover and ever since then I've become the pack slave.

They said I was dumped on their pack boundary with only a name tag. No one was willing to adopt me so the Alpha made me a slave.

He said, "See this as a way to pay back this pack for saving your life."

So I guess I will be indebted to this pack for the rest of my life but Cindy and her crew made it impossible for me to breathe.

"Faster, slave!" Rachael sneered in my face.

"This would be fun," Cora giggled for the second time today.

Lily chuckled, "I'm psyched."

"Please, it was an accident!" I cried again.

"Shut up!" they sneered.

I wish I hadn't panicked and ran. Maybe the punishment would have been over by now.

I had woken up in high spirits this morning because I started communicating with my wolf.

I was so excited I kept humming in the kitchen as I prepared breakfast. I hadn't heard when Cindy came inside and was talking to me until she banged the kitchen table.

Out of fear, I jumped and the peppery water I was holding slashed on Cindy's face.

As she screamed out in pain, I panicked and ran away. Then she sent her minions after me.

This was why I was running like my life depended on it because I had no idea what Cindy would do to me.

We're here!" Cora announced with a flourish as she pushed me into the pack hall.

"No, please!" I whimpered as they stepped in behind me and locked the door.

I saw Cindy standing in front of me, a dangerous glint in her eyes.

"You!" she yelled at me with murderous rage.

I raised my hands in surrender. "Please, it was an accident. I'm sorry, Cindy."

"An accident?" Cindy asked with a cackle.

I saw the red patches under her left eye and I winced. Looks like the peppery water burnt her a bit.

"I'll show you what an accident truly looks like," she laughed.

Then before I could respond, she lunged at me with a sledgehammer.

I closed my eyes and muttered a prayer as I left the memories wash through me.
