Two days had passed since Luca had left on his mission, but I still hadn’t heard anything from him. With no news about my illegitimate half-brother, I was getting more anxious by the hour.

My sleep was restless. I kept having terrible thoughts and imagining worst-case scenarios. The most frightening was picturing my half-brother taking over my position as Alpha King. It had become a nightmare, haunting both my dreams and my waking hours.

The anxiety was eating me alive, and these two days felt like forever. I needed to know where he was so I could deal with him once and for all. Only then would these disturbing thoughts stop tormenting me.

But there was nothing I could do except wait, even though the waiting was slowly driving me crazy.

“Eat up!” I grunted, holding out a forkful of noodles to her face. It was Jane. I wasn’t much of a cook, but I had prepared noodles and now I was feeding her.
