Chapter 8

Arya Pov

The rustling of the leaves drew closer, and darkness enveloped my vision. I pulled myself to the back of the nearest tree trunk, peeking out of my eyes to see if I could see the owner of the footsteps that drew closer. My heart was pounding within, threatening to jump out of its position. I held a hand over my chest, trying to console my emotions, but it didn't help. Instead, I found my hands shivering like someone who had Parkinson's disease.

Whoever it was saw me coming here. I had once felt eyes on me whenever I sneaked out through the back door, but I thought I was just being delusional. As the steps came closer, I prayed silently in my heart. I was just alone in the middle of the woods. Who is going to save them? The person might even hurt or do something worse than that. At the thought of it, I had goosebumps on my body.

"You can come out now, Arya." My back was on the trunk of the tree. I couldn't have the courage to see who had the voice, but the voice was familiar.
