Lenora's Point Of View
“Congratulations, my Luna. I'm proud of you.” Zade placed a soft kiss on my head. He hasn't even bothered to look at our son. All he wanted to do was to be sure that I was okay. And of course I was.
It's been three weeks since that ugly incident with Axel. According to the doctor, I was recuperating fast for someone that was beaten badly. She had also told me that my son was ready to come out. I'm still surprised that he didn't come out all these while. He had to wait until everything was back to normality.
And as for Axel, he died a painful death. He deserves it though. Zade has taken over his Pack and merged it with ours. And the elders who tried to cause trouble, claiming that he can't take over the Pack, were killed. He didn't want any issues to arrive in the future and that was understandable.
Everything has gone back to normal and I couldn't be happier. The Pack were happy for our victory too. I've also come to realise that Laura was the one who has been sending me those strange texts over the weeks.
She pleaded with me to forgive her. And even though I did, I asked her never to show her face before me ever again. Some might say I was still holding grudges against her, but trust me, it isn't. There was no point going back to the same person that had hurt you in the past. You can decide to forgive him or decide not to. But if you eventually forgive them, there is no point in still being friends with them.
They should remain in your past.
“Thank you for making me a father.” His voice dragged me back to reality and I flashed a weak smile at him. I must say childbirth isn't easy. But thank Goddess that I have a good mate and a mother-in-law who doesn't joke with me.
“Won't you look at our son?” I asked him, but he shook his head.
“No, my Luna. I have to be sure that you're fine.” He chuckled lightly as he wrapped his arms around me. While other men would have gone after their newborn, Zade was here making sure that I was okay. What more could I ask for?
My lips curled into a smile as I recalled how a powerful Alpha like Zade was almost on the verge of crying when he saw me screaming on the bed. I needed no soothsayer to tell me that he would have taken the pain from me, if he had the power to. It was written all over his face.
And I made a mental note to tease him with it later.
“I'm perfectly fine.” I breathed softly. “I'm relieved that I've pushed him out. It feels so good.” I chuckled. Earlier, I felt like I swallowed a bull. I felt really heavy, but now, the feeling was different.
“Zade?” I called after a while and he hummed in response. “I didn't mean those words earlier.”
“Remind me about it.”
“I…. I didn't mean it when I said I won't…” I paused. How do I let the words out? I felt heat rush to my cheeks when I saw him watching me, with arched brows.
As if getting the memo, he burst into laughter. I quickly ducked my head, because I couldn't bear to look him in the eyes.
“Why do I have a feeling that I know what you're about to say?” He said amidst his chuckles. “Come on, baby. I know you didn't mean it. I mean you'll never ask me not to touch you, will you?”
When I was screaming a few hours ago, I had swore in my life that I'll never let him touch me again. I told him that if he ever tries it, I'll cut his balls and feed it to his mama. I could remember how the nurses had burst into laughter when I said it.
Doctor Taylor even told me that this wasn't the first time she was hearing such threats from women, but they'll still come back to deliver another baby.
“We both know that you can't keep your hands off me.” He whispered in my ears in that usual husky voice of his. The sound sent shivers through my body, down to my core. I shook my head to clear the thought from my head.
“I'm hot and you know it.” He trailed his tongue over my ears and I pushed him away.
“Here's your son.” Doctor Taylor announced as she walked into the room. She placed him on my chest. Tears of joy filled my eyes as I stared at the tiny pup in my arms. Who would have believed that a barren woman would one day birth a child? That's really unbelievable.
“He's beautiful!” I let out, after finally finding my voice.
“Yeah, he is. Have you thought of a name for him yet?” Doctor Taylor asked, her face still beaming with smiles.
“Nathan.” Zade answered. He hasn't taken his eyes off him. He was staring at him like he was a prized possession. And of course he was. He came at the right time, when I already lost all hopes.
“That's a good idea. Congratulations once again, Alpha and Luna.” Doctor Taylor smiled before walking away, leaving us alone.
“He looks like you.”
We burst into laughter at the same time, because we had both said those words together. He does look like Zade. He has Zade's green eyes and his nose. He looks a lot like Zade. I could tell this even though his facial expressions haven't formed yet…if that makes any sense.
“But that's the truth, Alpha. He looks like you. You'll see it in a few weeks.” I said after our laughter had died down and Zade just shrugged.
“It doesn't matter who he looks like, Luna. All that matters is that he's our son. And we're gonna give him all the love that he deserves.”
“Of course.” I nodded, my face beaming with smiles. “Wanna hold him?” I asked Zade and he chuckled.
“No. I'll just pass. I'm afraid that I'll squeeze him if I hold on too tight. He's tiny.”
“Hold him. You won't hurt him. He's your son….” I stopped talking when I heard familiar voices outside the room.
“Did you invite him over?” I turned to Zade and he just shrugged.
“While you were still unconscious, we made peace with each other. Mother still doesn't want to forgive her father though, and I understand perfectly. He says he'll drop by to see his great grandson.” He paused but continued almost immediately.
“But as for Zariel, he wanted to make peace with me. I told him that I have no beef with him. When he learned that you were kidnapped by Axel, he wanted to go after him, but I told him that you had been rescued. And now, he wants to see my son.”
My lips curled into a smile. Indeed a lot has happened while I was still unconscious. And somewhere, I was happy that Zade made peace with his step brother.
“He needed money to start up a business for himself and his wife. I gave it to him though.”
“His wife?”
“Yeah. The fucker got married to Talia. It's still surprising because they've never gotten along with each other in the beginning. At least it's a good thing.” He chuckled again.
Just then, the door burst open and Zariel made his way into the room, together with Talia, with two guards trailing behind them.
“I'm sorry, Alpha. I tried to stop them, but…”
Zade dismissed the guard and he bowed before walking away.
“Oh my goodness!” Zariel burst into laughter as he stared at my son. “He's tiny.” He added and I rolled my eyes.
“Did you come here to make snarky comments about my son or what?” I snapped at him and now it was his turn to roll his eyes.
“Relax Queen Bee. I just couldn't believe that a child could be this tiny. Look at those arms. Eww!” He said as he went to plop down on the sofa. “Zade is now a father? Fuck! That's unbelievable.”
My eyes trailed to Talia who was still standing in the middle of the room like a lost woman. “Hi?” I arched my brows at her. If she isn't going to say anything, then she should just leave.
“H…hi.” She stuttered. “How are you feeling today?” She asked and I just rolled my eyes.
“Be nice, Nora.” Zoey scowled at me. Why should I be nice to her? “Just do it, Nora.” I took a deep breath. “Fine. I'll try.”
I plastered a fake smile on my face. “I'm fine, Talia. Thanks for asking.”
“I brought fruits for you. I figured out that you might need them, you know, it'll help you get better.”
“Thank you Talia. That's sweet of you.” I smiled at her. Now my smile was genuine. It's not everyday you see your enemies bringing fruits for you after all.
“Congratulations on your son. He's beautiful.”
“Yeah, he is. Thank you.”

Here I was, standing in Matilda's ward. After Zariel and Talia left our ward, Zade made me know that Matilda was awake. And here I was. I wanted to know why she'll risk her life for me. I mean Matilda hates me. She isn't supposed to risk her life for me, her step daughter.
“Nora!” Matilda called as soon as she noticed my presence. She had a small smile on her face. That was a first. She has never smiled at me, not even when I came out as the best student in class. Instead she just scowled at me. And at the end of the day, she had to make sure that I stopped attending school, simply because her daughter didn't come out as the best student.
“Congratulations on your son. How are you feeling today?”
“Don't even act like you care about me because you do not give a damn if I was dead or alive. Now tell me, why did you risk your life to save me? Why did you jump…”
“Because I wanted to.” She responded and I snorted.
“Don't feed me that shit, Matilda. You'll never care if I was dead or alive. So tell me, why did you do it?”
She didn't answer and boy, it drove me crazy. “Don't keep me waiting, woman. I've got better things to do.”
The next minute, she knelt on the floor as she burst into tears. “Please forgive me for everything that I've ever done to you. I am really sorry.” She tried to touch my legs, but I dragged them away.
“Don't you dare touch me with those filthy hands of yours.” I hissed. “Now go straight to the point and tell me everything I need to know.”
“Melissa is not my child. I found out a few months ago when she needed a blood donor. And when I asked the doctor why, I was told that we weren't….that I wasn't her mother. I never wanted to believe it at first, but the results were glaring. She isn't my daughter.” She explained as calmly as she could.
“And I was surprised. I never wanted to believe it. I decided to do some research in the same hospital that I'd given birth to. It turns out that she was switched at birth. Another lady had lost her pup. And the nurses took my child and…..”
“Gave it to her?” I finished for her and she nodded slowly.
“Yeah.”
“So, what has that got to do with me?” I asked her even though I already had a guess of where this was going.
“You, Lenora, is my child.” She cried. “You were switched at birth when I was still asleep. The nurse confessed it. She was kind enough to put a mark on your body, in case I ever decide to find you.”
The next minute, I burst into laughter. “You're joking, Matilda. You can never be my mother.” I felt Zade's presence around me and I suddenly felt at ease.
“You can never be my mother, okay? The only woman I recognise as my mother is Patricia and she's late. Go to hell.”
What kind of cruel joke was the universe playing with me for heaven's sake? How can she be my mother? The same woman that caused my father's death? The same woman that caused my mother's death? The same woman that made me taste hell on earth? Never! She's not my mother. I refuse to believe it.
How can she be my mother?
“Please, Nora. Please forgive me. I know that I've treated you wrongly. I've made your life a living hell. But please forgive me. I promise to make things right to you. I promise to….”
“Get some guards to throw this lunatic out of this hospital, Zade.” I said to Zade before walking out of the ward. Matilda is not my mother. And even if she was, I'd rather die than forgive her.
