POV Aiden Joann was nervous about having to decide Paula’s fate. I squeezed her hand hoping to sooth her but it didn’t seem to help. Eric watched over Paula. My heart filled with pride watching him look after her. Reassuring her through every part of her confession. He was going to be a better Alpha then I ever could have dreamt. My head filling with thoughts of starting his Alpha training. Soon I would get to see him fight, could he beat Miss Evens and Zandra. They had remained undefeated despite Thea and Selova’s many attempts. I had tuned out the conversation completely until Eric handed Paula a tissue and said something about her family. Shortly afterwards Joann left the room. Paula wrapped her tiny arms around Eric’s waistline before quickly following after her. Eric walked over to me, a full head taller, I had to look up at him. Placing his hand on my shoulder. “Paula and Iris will be fine now. I spoke with Iris and she understands the consequences of such behavior.”
POV Thea The darkness is damp, smelling of mold with a hint of sulfur. Warm light grows in front of me and three faces are uncovered by the light. I know these faces but who are they? The woman’s voice sounds like music, she reaches over picking me up and setting me on her lap. She smiles sweetly, kissing my temple before fixing my little pink shoe. The girl hands me a piece of food, I happily take it and wiggle my feet while I eat it. They all laugh and smile, the man kisses my forehead and the girl holds my hand. Voices can be heard but they are far away. I tiny pinpoint of light appears. The man looks at a white light that is slowly getting bigger. The girl runs towards the light while the man whispers. “Hide now.” I know that voice but I can’t place it. Wrapping her arms around me the woman picks me up and I feel my shoulder scrap something hard. “Ouch.” I say. “Quite sweetheart. No matter what, you stay here and be quiet. Ok? Mommy loves you.” She says forcing
POV Thea I lay in the darkness, the floor stripping the heat down to my bones. Sleep is a distant memory from another place. I dare not fall asleep. Every time I drift off I’m back in that cave. Listen to the screams of what I now know is my family. Trapped in endless darkness when I’m awake and unending suffering if I dare sleep. I beg Sel not to heal me, let the darkness and cold swallow me. If this is my life now then let it end. My mind drifts to Eric. How could he do this to me? If I am his mate, how could he want this for me? Was this his life all those years? My heart hurts just thinking of what happened before I ended up here. Walking through the trees in the moonlight. Holding my hand, Eric stopped me with a gentle pull. Turning me to face him, it felt like he looked at me forever. I could see his wolf in his eyes. It felt like his soul touched mine when he kissed me. Then everything went dark. A click and hum signals the lights have come on somewhere in the giant roo
POV Aiden Juxes snarled at the carnage. Blood and body parts from Joann and Miss Evens covering the patio. Splatters and chunks of flesh hanging off the side of the house. His breathing becoming more rapid and deeper with every exhale. I let his rage consume me. I couldn’t take the heartbreak and sorrow. It is so much easier to sink into his anger. Juxes charged back into the house leaving a trail of bloody paw prints all the way to the foyer. Charging past Paula’s family while they were all too stunned to realize what was happening. Pouncing on Paula and pinning her to the floor. Razor sharp teeth millimeters from her throat. “Where is he?” Juxes growled. “Who?” Paula whimpered. Juxes snapped his jaws, grabbing her throat in his mouth. Several teeth slowly cutting through the skin on her neck. No bothering to repeat the question. He just growled, the vibration causing more teeth to cut into her soft flesh. Paula’s family shifting, pushing the children out of the way i
POV Thea I snatched the blanket from his hands quickly wrapping it around myself. Sitting back on my feet I just sat there looking at him for the longest time. “Do I really have a choice?” I asked. My tone sarcastic and mean. Eric sat back stretching out his legs and resting his back against the glass. “Well, no. Not really. I’m going to tell you anyway. It’s not like you’re going anywhere.” He said with a small exhale of air, like a silent laugh. Moving his hand to pick a piece of food that had flown in my hair. I smacked it away before he could reach me. Eric sighed deeply. “Where do I even begin?” He ran his fingers through his hair. “Everything you’ve been told about werewolves, lycans and Abigail is a lie.” He told me. “Am I even your mate or is that a lie too.” I asked. Holding back tears. Now unable to look at him at all. “You are the Lunar wolf, the salvation of lycans and yes. You are my mate.” He said. Leaning his face down trying to get me to look at him. “The
POV Thea My brain was buzzing. This was far to much to try to take in all at once. “Sel, do you remember any of this?” I asked her. She replied with a stern, “no!” “Do you believe them?” I asked. “I don’t know what to think. I can’t believe that everyone would lie all these years. To us and to each other. It makes me wonder if anyone knows the truth. I find it really hard to accept that the lycans have just been misunderstood or misrepresented all this time.” Selova responded with a heavy sigh. “We have to get out of here.” I told her. “Couldn’t agree more but we have this whole glass box situation.” Selova growled. “If they think we are buying all this I bet they will let us out. I don’t see anyone else in cages. Eric seems to walk around freely.” I said. “So you have a plan.” She asked. “I think so.” I told her. Francis and Krissy left not long after introducing themselves. Eric stayed and cleaned up the mess I made, after bringing in some clothes and showing me a
POV Thea I wasn’t sure how I got stuck in the middle of this. Krissy held a death grip around my neck as Francis paced angrily. He obviously didn’t want to take it out on her or show her how mad he was but there was no hiding it from me. Eric walked over to him, trying to calm him down. “She’s fine, she’s right here with Thea. How about we go get breakfast and come back for her after.” Placing his hand on Francis shoulder he leaned down and whispered something in his ear. Whatever he said worked. Francis demeanor changed and he walked up to Krissy and I. “I need to get something to eat. Would you like to come with me or do you want to stay here a little longer?” Francis asked Krissy. “Can I stay Daddy?” She asked. Her eyes shinning and hopeful. “Of course my pet.” He replied. I shuddered at his words. Remembering when he had said them in my dream. “Why don’t you show Thea around a little when she’s ready.” He said. Leaning down and kissing her forehead. He came within in
POV Thomas Beta Sebastian and his family all told similar stories. A few had seen the Luna head out the back alone and a couple remember Alpha Eric and Thea going out the side door in the kitchen. I sent men to clean up the back of the house and bring everything to Dr. Stevenson. A couple men went to the clinic to donate blood for Jason. He would recover but his healing was slowed by the amount of blood loss. I had released Beta Sebastian and the others having no reason to hold them. No matter how hard I tried to focus my mind kept wondering back to the outside of the pack house. Zandra was ripped to pieces, no one here could beat her in a fair fight. Shit no one could beat her in an unfair fight. Many of the warriors have tired taking her. She easily defeated three to four of them at a time. The Luna wasn’t defenseless either. Having trained almost every day after Eric disappeared she was a force to be reckoned with as well. I sat on the floor, staring through the bars of t
