Chapter 17- Elliot

I’m heading to meet with Caroline and her father to explain to them that Maddox is introducing his fated mate tonight at the ball. Caroline has no reason to reject me now. I’m happy Maddox has his fated mate because I was worried he would take my mate. If I’m honest with myself, I know Maddox never would do that. Even if he had agreed to take a chosen mate, the minute I told him Caroline was my mate, he would have declined her.

I can’t even be angry at Maddox. All of it was done behind his back. He had no clue what my father and aunt were trying to set up for him. They thought they were being clever. Alpha Fredricks, Caroline’s father, is known to favor the way things are. He wants to keep rogue slaves. He wants war with the rogues, so the pack wolves can enslave them all. It’s madness what he, my father, aunt, and others like them want to accomplish. What they want might start the very war that eliminates our species.
