Chapter 7

Faye's POV:

The doorbell jingles as I pushed the door open, I glanced around the simply furnished Cafe and my eyes brightened. I took in a sharp breath as my nose caught the smell of freshly baked doughnuts and my stomach grumbled loudly.

I dipped my hand inside my bag and brought out my black purse and strolled toward the counter.

"Good evening, welcome to Lily's Cafe." The older woman greeted me, the wrinkles around her eyes pulled together as she smiled brightly at me.

I swallowed my saliva and licked my lips "Can I get three of those doughnuts?" I asked inaudibly.

She nodded her head and looked up at me, "Right away, estimada (dear)" she responded and added. "Will you like it with any drinks?"She inquired and I nodded my head as I mumbled.

"Can I get iced Americano as well?" I said rhetorically and she nodded her head with her smile still intact as she went back to get what I wanted for me.

Five minutes later, she handed over a tray of my orders and I went back to a corner to sit down.

I munched on the doughnuts hungrily while glancing around the cafe at the same time.

I had money in my bank account, I wasn't a broker thrown out by her parents, and I had about $100,000 in my bank account but was confused about what to use it for.

I needed to use it wisely for the sake of my baby and me. I wasn't a good cook so opening a f****** restaurant was not on my radar, I needed advice.

I took the second piece of my doughnut and crunched it between my teeth, the satisfying crunchy sound made my heart full.

I was starting to behave weirdly and I knew that.

After a while, I looked outside and a small gasp fell from my mouth.

Everywhere was getting dark and I was yet to find a place to stay.

The woman who served me strutted towards my table and flashed me a sincere smile, my lip pulled up as I tried to reciprocate the gesture.

"I notice that you've been uneasy since you came, is everything okay?" She questioned in concern.

I didn't know if I should tell her or just let it be, as I battle to make a decision, Mina creeped out of her hiding and suggested "Why don't you tell her the truth? She might help and we will find our mate." She said hopefully.

The only thing the two of us had ever wished for was to find our mate, though, ever since I found out about my pregnancy, I have been thinking less about it, but I could feel her constantly thinking about him, she wanted a mate, a companion.

I wanted to meet him as soon as possible, but if I decide within myself that if I don't find him, well, I'd just brush past it and move on.

The Cafe owner watched me keenly as I converse within myself, after a whole 20 minutes had passed, I spoke up "Can I get an apartment anywhere here?" I inquired calmly and she arched her eyebrows worriedly, she pulled out a chair and sat down then dropped her hands on the table.

"You ran away from home," she said accusingly as if she was so sure that I did it.

I nodded my head and shrugged casually. "My father disown me because I got pregnant out of wedlock, and now I have nowhere to stay, I need an apartment and a job, of course," I uttered, telling her only half of the story, I couldn't go around telling her that I was a werewolf, she'd call me a coke head.

Her mouth was slightly opened and her eyes widened as she watched me intently. "You are pregnant," She whispered and looked into my eyes then broke into a smile, "That's good." She added and I arched my eyebrows questioningly.

"I mean... That was a slip of tongue." She said, brushing back her hair with her fingers then glanced up at me. "There is an apartment in my building that is quite affordable and accommodating for a newborn baby, I think you'll like it."

I was surprised by her kind words, I was not expecting it. "Thank you so much, Ma. you don't realize how fucking happy I am right now." I giggled and she stood up and patted my back lovingly.

"Continue with your doughnut, we will leave together in the next 30 minutes when I'm down with what I'm doing." She told me and I nodded in accordance.

The Moon Goddess was really with me.

30 minutes later, she came out, dressed in a new outfit, and was carrying a bag as big as the size of my backpack.

I couldn't care less if the apartment was in the shabby corner of New York, I just needed a place to lay my head.

We walked side by side along the sidewalk quietly, the woman's attention was on her surroundings and I wonder what she was looking for. "Is the place close?" I inquired after a long silence.

She glanced back at me and squeezed out a smile "Yes, it's no longer far away." She responded calmly, her hand holding tightly to her bag.

My nose twitched as we rounded a corner, something seems wrong somewhere but I couldn't place my hand on what it was, I shrugged off the feeling and followed her down the tunnel, suddenly, my legs froze as I watched someone running toward me in a full speed and then pounced on me.

I fell back on the floor and I winched painfully from hitting my head so badly.

Motherfucker!

I howled so loudly that the tunnel vibrated, my sharp claws dug into the floor and my fangs shot out as I turned to face the intruder.

What the fuck? I thought as I saw three werewolves walking towards me in a majestical.

Oh, fuck! My howl might have called on unknown strangers.
