Chapter 1: Finding the one

"It has been announced by the FuenTECH C.E.O., Gabriel Fuentes, that his son, Chase Fuentes, is in search of a bride. Apparently, the heir of the biggest well-known company wishes to get married before the year ends. Thousands of-"

Chase turns off the television. With hazel brown eyes, he gave his father an annoyed glare as he walks back in forth thinking what he will do about the mess that his father created.

"Dad, was it really necessary to contact a news station to help me find a bride? Don't you remember who we are? You're the owner of the biggest and richest company in the country and I'm your heir." He questioned his old man as he massages his forehead.

"You didn't let the news finish their report. I made sure for them to tell that you want to fall in love so I'm confident that the girls who will line up should be in love with you already. This will help you find the one faster." the father stated proudly. "And give me a grandchild sooner." he cheerfully added.

"Oh my gosh, I can't believe that a monster in the business world has no common sense in other things." Chase grunted. "I'm a hundred percent sure that the girls that will line up is in love with my money and not actually me."

"Come on, you're no longer a teenager. What's really important here is for you to fall in love. So what if the one you'll love sees you for your money? Then use your money to make them love the actual you."

"If that actually happens, I'm the one who's losing here. You of all people should know what happens to a human when there's money involved. They'll turn into leeches. If I actually falls in love with someone who likes me for my money then my billions will dry up first before they'll ever genuinely love me. Worse if they'll also use me to get to know other billionaires and have an affair."

"You do have a point there. My bad, son." Gabriel stood up from chair to approach his son and pat his back. He would wanted to pat his son's head but because of their height difference, he could only settle to what seems easy. "Everything's gonna work out fine. Don't forget how money gives power. I can just throw money to investigate any girl you'll fall for. I can't just stay idle if you ever get married to a leech."

Chase let's out another grunt before speaking. "You could have used the money you paid the news station for investigators and search the city for suitable brides for me. You're making really bad business decisions here, dad." Gabriel only laughed at his son's comment.

"I will never run out of money. I can just do both. Tell Secretary Lee about your ideal type and order him to get the investigators." Gabriel went back to his chair. "Is there anything else you need?"

"Other than complaining about that announcement there's nothing else."

"Alright, go along with your day then. Don't forget to find Secretary Lee. See you at dinner." Gabriel smiled at Chase as his son was reaching for the door out of the C.E.O.'s office.

"Yes, see you at dinner." Chase spoke with a soft smile before exiting the office.

The son and the father has a good relationship ever since the mother tragically died when Chase was only nine years old. He might have grown up without a mother, his father has exerted great efforts to make sure that Chase will never feel unloved. When he was a child, he was fond of reading romance and his father encouraged him to pursue true love. They might be the biggest in the business world, but because they already have everything, the Fuentes would only seek genuine love instead of more cold hard cash that they already have plenty of. But despite of dreaming of true love, Chase never had a girlfriend. He believed that he will know the one at first sight, that or just because his standards is too high. This might have been the reason why his father went ahead and announced to the entire country about his son's search for true love. This situation actually reminds Chase of the story of Cinderella, where maidens were invited to the ball for the Prince to find a bride. Although he find it annoying, he also find it somewhat romantic. He is actually excited to find his Cinderella.

Because of the news report, the company's email and Chase's phone has been blowing with messages inquiring about dating the heir. Chase went ahead and ordered Secretary Lee to assign investigators for each messages they receive about him. He didn't gave out words about his ideal type, he only ordered them to investigate if the people's intention was love nor money.

"Are there any other things you would like to add sir?" Secretary Lee asked as he was sending the commands with his tablet.

"Did the Prince danced with every maiden there or did he just greeted them?" Chase mumbled but it was clear enough for the secretary to understand.

"I am not familiar with the fairy tale sir. But are you implying that you're willing to date everyone?" Secretary Lee asked to confirm.

"Not everyone, that could take years. Maybe just the ones that the investigators would define as genuine. I could offer them a date to get to know them. What do you think?" Chase inquired the secretary and Secretary Lee did pause to think about it. Before he could receive the response, he spoke up again. "It would hinder work. I am aware so I also think it's not really a good idea."

"I don't think you have to worry about work, sir. Even if you don't show up for the rest of the year, I don't think your father wouldn't do something." Secretary Lee assured the young man. "I believe that going on a date would be better. I've heard about your strong beliefs of love at first sight. I'm afraid that meeting them only once before pursuing them because you fell in love at first sight would be a stupid idea. No offense, sir."

"No need to apologize. I also think it's stupid. I was originally planning to date around but because of father's action, that's ruined." Chase rested his cheek on his right hand before pouting.

"Dating around could harm your reputation, sir. You could be named as a playboy. That might be popular for women but it's not advisable to the business world." The secretary opposed. "Now I see why your father did what he did. He just saved your face."

"You really have no filter, Secretary Lee." Chase chuckled at the end of his sentence.

"Anyway, back to the topic. In my opinion, going on a private date with the approved girls is smarter. We could make sure that the date is private and will not reach the paparazzi however, we don't really have to worry so much about them because it has already been announced about your seach for a bride. We could always use that as an excuse if ever a photo ever leaks to the media that you're dating multiple women."

"Alright, then may I ask to cancel everything on my schedule? Also report it to my father so he could find a substitute for my work while I'm away from the company."

"Certainly, sir."
