Chapter 2: Good Luck

"Is it really true?" an old business man asked Chase just after a business meeting was adjourned. Chase only gave him a smile in confusion of the sudden question.

"About what, Mr. Ada?" Chased inquired.

"About you taking a vacation to date and find a bride."

"Yes, it is true. Though it wasn't announced yet in the company but a memo should be released tomorrow informing about my absence for an unspecified duration. Well, it is such an unprofessional reason that's why we didn't released an official announcement in advance. Someone capable should take over my work for me starting tomorrow too." Chase answered.

"It is an unusual and unprofessional reason but you're a Fuentes of the FuenTECH. You could literally do whatever you want." the two exchanged a laugh. "Anyway, not to act like a greedy businessman but could I also offer to you my daughter? It's not because I want something in return but it's because my daughter had always had a crush on you ever since she met you at the year end party last year."

"Really? I'm afraid I don't remember your daughter but I could meet up with her. Just tell Secretary Lee about it. A lot of the board members also offered their daughters and granddaughters."

"Of course, you play fair. You don't play favorites that's why I like you. I'd be very happy if you become my son-in-law."

"You're flattering me too much, Mr. Ada. This will be my farewell, I have a date tomorrow." Chase response with a light chuckle.

"Alright, I don't want to keep you all night. I wish you find your bride." Mr. Ada said before parting ways with Chase.

It has been an entire month since then. Listing his dates and finding him a substitute took a while but everything had worked out. He also hired more bodyguards to keep his safety. There are a total of fifty six dates on his list, well, fifty seven if he also counts Mr. Ada's daughter. The plan was to date a girl for three days and he'll rest on the fourth day then he'll date a different girl the next day for another three days. That means, he'll be dating two different girls in a week so that's at least eight different girls in a month but there are fifty seven of them. Chased only sigh at the thought of how exhausting it will be for him starting tomorrow. He could always cut off the date short whenever he wants to especially if he finds the girl overbearing. That's another reason for his heightened security, crazy girls are scary. Chase shivers at the thought, it reminds him of those villainesses in stories.

"Chase! Let's go home together." A voice of a man halted him. He turned to see his father walking towards him. Chase stopped his feet and continued to walk when his father was in his pace. "It's such a big day tomorrow. I hope you'll find your bride sooner. I heard from Secretary Lee that there's more than fifty on the list."

"Yes, there are fifty seven in total, exhausting as it may seem, I'm honestly excited. A liberty to just focus on creating my love life. This can only happen because I was born as a Fuentes of the FuenTECH." Chase said repeating the joke he heard earlier. He laughed at his own joke and his father laugh along with him while patting his back.

"Do take pride in your name. I did work really hard for you to have such privilege."

"I did wonder what it's like if I had such a competitive and dramatic family. You know, like those in tv shows where family members will ruin the life of their own family members just to inherit the company." Chase open up a fun topic as they both entered the elevator. It's still a long way down until the parking lot. Chase thought of creating more fun conversations with his father.

"I don't think I'll survive such environment. Be thankful that our family follows a one child policy."

"Wait, really? Is that why I never met any uncles or aunts?" Chase was genuinely surprised. He never heard of it and he knows that their family does not have any form of ridiculous rules.

"Not really, it's just a coincidence that we both don't have any siblings to squabble with. But I do think it's peaceful this way and with the right amount of effort, I never let you feel neglected."

"Yes, I really am thankful that I have you as my father. I think I stole everyone's luck to be this blessed." Chase let out a soft giggle.

"Yes, you are. Everyone would be envious of you if everyone will know that not only are you a billionaire at 27, but you also have a healthy relationship with your family. Although what you said earlier about a dramatic family being a fiction, drama does exist in reality. So you might have the entire humanity's luck."

"I'm not that lucky. I did left some luck for the other some humans." This time, the volume of Chase's giggle got louder. "All that luck aside, it's because I had such an amazing father."

"Keep the compliments going, my son." Gabriel held his head up with confidence and pride, this causes Chase to burst into laughter. He keep throwing more compliments at his father which causes his father to look and act more prideful and at every sentence, Chase's laughter gets stronger and louder that at the time they reached the parking lot, Chase was having a stomachache from laughing too hard.

Everything calm down when they rode the car home, that is aside for the fact that Chase was having a nonstop hiccups as a side effect from laughing so much.

"Really? Hiccups at that age?" Gabriel raised an eyebrow at his son. "At times like this, you seem so pure and innocent that sometimes I wish you don't have to marry and just stay forever as my child." Gabriel can't help but let his doting side win from the adorable sight of his son.

"*hic* ew, *hic* dad. There's nothing pretty about a man child. *hic*" Still struggling with hiccups, Chase tried his best not to laugh again.

"You don't look like a man child. You're more like a golden retriever."

"Eh!? *hic* a dog?"

"Nevermind. Anyway, back to your dates, have you looked into all of them?" Gabriel asked with his serious face, the one he uses when he is in a business mode.

"I did not. Not even a single one. I'm trusting Secretary Lee that he reviewed all of them." Chased answered.

"You're still too faithful about that love at first sight thing, I guess." Gabriel sigh softly at the end of his sentence. He had hoped that at least his son would grow up from such belief but he did not have the heart to force his son to stop dreaming of such an innocent love story.

"Well, yeah, that and also because I don't want to create any expectations about them. I want to have my opinions only when I finally meet them and get to know them." Chase responded innocently.

"That is fair. But what if you don't fall in love with any of them?"

"Trial and error. My goal of getting married next year might have to move in a different year." Chase only smiled with optimism that it's showing in his face that he will meet the one really soon.

"I never asked this but I never demanded for you to get married, well, I did ask for a grandchild but that's besides the point, why are you so eager to marry?" Gabriel finally asked the question he has been so puzzled about his son's whole ordeal.

"It's a bit embarrassing to tell but, I think if I really do meet the one, I would love to locked them with me through marriage as soon as possible. That's why if I do meet the one, I'll immediately prepare the wedding." Gabriel pats the head of his son while smiling.

"Good luck and I only wish the best for you."
