    - Logan - Upstairs, the quiet hum of water moving through the copper pipes echoed through the timber ceiling. After spending the rest of the afternoon seeing the property, eating the snacks Lucas had left out for her and setting up her room, Charlotte was taking a long, hot shower, finally washing off the compound dust and three years of bad memories in a space that was all her own. Down in the kitchen, the overhead lights illuminated the granite island that currently looked like a war zone of brown paper grocery bags. It had taken a good half an hour to convince Charlotte to write out a grocery list of what she wanted to be eating for the next few days, having to resort to Lucas asking Gabriel write up our usual bachelor-centric nightmare of a list. The moment she'd seen 'Frozen pizza', 'microwave meals' and 'sliced cheese' she couldn't help herself. Lucas had smugly taken the list, tossed out Gabe's like he wanted to burn the bin it fell into, and went shopping. A decision

    - Charlotte - The inside of the homestead was exactly like the man who built it—dark, imposing, and undeniably comforting. Stepping over the threshold, the scent of cedar, worn leather, and subtle pine washed over me. The ground floor was a sprawling, open-concept space that leaned heavily into a rustic, minimalist aesthetic. It wasn't cluttered, but it wasn't cold, either. Dark, matte-black fixtures contrasted perfectly with rich mahogany floors and exposed timber beams across the ceiling. To the left was a massive lounge room centered around a stone fireplace, a large flat screen and deep, oversized leather couches that looked dangerously comfortable. Beyond that lay a state-of-the-art kitchen with dark granite countertops and a massive island that begged for lazy Sunday mornings. "My office and bar are through there," Logan murmured, his hand resting a warm, heavy weight on the small of my back as he pointed toward a set of closed double doors. "And the room at the end of the h

    - Logan - The Tahoe chewed up the miles of winding asphalt, putting distance between us and the suffocating chaos of the compound. The further we drove into the dense, pine-choked foothills on the edge of town, the lighter the air in the cab seemed to get. In the backseat, Gabriel and Lucas were still quietly traumatized. "I'm locking my bedroom door tonight," Gabe muttered, staring out the window like he was watching for an ambush. "I'm putting a chair under the knob. Hell, maybe a dresser." "A dresser won't stop her," Lucas replied clinically, the glow of his laptop illuminating his glasses. "She operates on sheer, unadulterated entitlement. If you barricade the door, she'll just interpret it as a challenge. I'm updating the compound's internal security roster to keep myself off nightwatch for the next month." I snorted, keeping my left hand draped lazily over the steering wheel while my right rested exactly where it belonged—firmly on Charlotte's thigh. She was pressed as clos

    - Charlotte - The heavy iron gates of the compound groaned open, swallowing Margie's powder-blue station wagon back into the sea of black denim, roaring engines, and guarded tension. I barely had one foot out of the car before Gabriel was there, pulling open the back hatch with a shit-eating grin plastered across his handsome face. He started looping shopping bags up his forearms like he was carrying in groceries, though his eyes gleamed with absolute menace. "Damn, Char. Did you leave anything in the store?" Gabe teased, effortlessly hoisting the mountain of bags. He leaned in, lowering his voice to a conspiratorial stage whisper that easily carried across the yard. "Tell me you at least bought the good panties. You know, the expensive, impractical lace ones that'll take Reaper exactly three seconds to rip off with his teeth?" "Gabriel!" I gasped, feeling a hot flush crawl up my neck as Margie cackled loudly from the driver's seat. "What?" He laughed, entirely unapologetic as he

    - Logan - The air in Church was thick with the scent of motor grease, gun oil, and the cheap cologne of a dozen bodies crammed into the back room. The heavy, custom-built oak table—scarred with decades of knife marks, spilled bourbon, and cigarette burns—served as the only dividing line between the Vipers and the northern syndicate smuggler sitting opposite Victor. Silas was a weasel of a man who moved high-end ballistic hardware across state lines. He was good at his job, but he always brought too much muscle to overcompensate for his own lack of spine. Four of his heavily armed goons stood rigidly behind him, hands hovering dangerously close to their tactical holsters. Victor sat at the head of the table, his massive frame completely relaxed in his leather chair, hands resting flat on the wood. He had a terrifying ability to suck the oxygen out of a room just by looking at a man, projecting an absolute, unshakable authority that you couldn't buy or fake. I stood flush again

    - Charlotte - "I don't think I need all of this," I practically squeaked as I watched Nellie load an armful of sweaters, heavy denim, and designer tops onto the counter of the boutique we'd been quietly raiding for the last hour. Margie laughed beside me, her long brunette waves spilling over her tattooed shoulders as she set her own towering pile of dresses, silk blouses, and dark wash shorts right next to Nellie's. "Sugar, please," she chuckled, a thick southern drawl wrapping warmly around each syllable. "Ya boy Reaper would give us that proper broodin' glare if we let ya walk back into the clubhouse with anythin' less than a whole new wardrobe." I scrunched my nose slightly, crossing my arms over my chest. "How big is the damn closet?" I muttered in defeat, setting down my much smaller, far more practical pile on top. It consisted mostly of basics: soft bras, cotton panties, seamless socks, a few sturdy bandanas, and a handful of hair clips I liked the look of. Nellie sno
