Standing at our gate, ranting like a lunatic, with a mob of livestreamers recording every second.

"Windsor Corp's CEO thinks he's untouchable! Everyone, you're my witnesses—I'm seeing my wife today, no matter what!"

I grabbed the docs I printed earlier and flew downstairs.

Totally blanked that I'd sent the staff out. No one else home.

Totally blanked how media flashing in my face after the accident used to mess me up.

Totally blanked that my voice would be gone in a panic.

But when you're protecting something that matters, fear kinda shuts up.

I marched out and yanked the door open.

"Joelle..." Nathan's face lit up.

I slapped him. Hard.

"Nathan Ziegler! Go look in a mirror! What made you think I'd ever crawl back to you?!"

Another slap.

"And what gives you the nerve to spew lies and stir up drama?!"

One more for good measure.
