Chapter Four

"Bella, this is Levi Karter, he just returned from Hong Kong last night. Levi, this is Pearl, she is my wife's friend - Bella," Max introduced.

As soon as Bella heard the man's name, she felt a little nervous, even though his image wasn't posted in the news. In high society, no one didn't know the background of a man named Levi Karter. In terms of wealth, a few companies of Bella's father couldn't compare to Levi Karter's assets.

Yet...this morning, she even handed him a check and said it was a service fee. Thinking about her stupid action this morning, Bella wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

"Oh, so this is your wife, you got married early while I was busy so I couldn't come to meet you. With such a beautiful wife like this, you're really lucky, Max," Levi looked at Bella.

Max was very happy to be praised, even though he didn't think his wife could be this beautiful. "Of course."

While Max and Levi were talking, Bella could only try to force a fake smile wondering why she was the only one embarrassed while this man could still talk so happily.

The only one ignored was Pearl, she was surprised and annoyed seeing Bella's change. In Pearl's eyes, Bella was just a foolish country bumpkin but lucky, she didn't want Bella to surpass her.

Since Max entered the restaurant, his gaze was always on Bella, just glancing at her a few times. Although she knew her relationship with Max couldn't be made public, being ignored like that was very uncomfortable.

Pearl didn't want to be left out of this conversation, the one who should have been left behind was supposed to be Bella.

"I've heard of your name for a long time, Levi Karter, I've long admired a talented person like you," Pearl sweetly spoke, her gaze was alluring.

The atmosphere from awkward gradually became more cheerful and harmonious, Bella was a little annoyed as she didn't think Pearl could take control of the conversation that didn't belong to her so quickly.

But that wasn't what made Bella angry, in front of Max, this man could behave so disgracefully, he was rubbing his foot against her leg. Bella couldn't avoid it because if she did, it would create a noise that would attract Max and Pearl's attention.

"Levi, I heard that you won't be returning to Hong Kong anytime soon, is that right?" Max asked.

Levi nodded, this was news that few people knew and he didn't want the press to find out.

"That's right, Hong Kong holds many memories for me but I want to live in my own country," Levi said, his eyes glancing at Bella's reaction.

Max laughed. Although the two had been classmates, from the start their paths had diverged. Max always tried to climb higher positions, but Levi didn't care about that, he could do what he liked without paying attention to the opinions of others.

"Doesn't Hong Kong have any attractive girls to keep you there? We've known each other for so long but I've never seen any girl by your side," Max said.

It was just a casual conversation between two old friends. But when Pearl heard Max say that, she became even more enthusiastic about attacking Levi. Levi talked friendly with Pearl without revealing any unusual emotions, which made her feel a bit disappointed.

In contrast, Bella paled when she heard the conversation between the two men. Just now, she was feeling lucky that he might be returning to Hong Kong soon. But now he said he wouldn't go back to Hong Kong?

Bella tightly held the fork in her hand and stepped on Levi's teasing foot, then pretended to make a noise and stood up.

"Oh sorry, I need to go to the restroom, you guys continue the conversation," Bella hurriedly wanted to leave, avoiding Levi's probing gaze.

Pearl seemed concerned and wanted to go with her. "Bella, are you okay? I'll go with you."

Bella felt uncomfortable with the fake gesture of this 'close friend' and even the same air as this person made her feel angry.

"No need, I'll be back quickly," Bella said.

Levi chuckled when he saw Bella's embarrassed and urgent departure. Earlier, she didn't pay attention to him and even avoided him, so he teased her a little by brushing against her leg, making it impossible for her to ignore him.

About two minutes later, the phone rang and Levi picked it up, standing up and apologizing, "I'm sorry, I have a call."

In the women's restroom, Bella stood in front of the mirror, reminding herself to stay calm.

"What's happening? Why is it him? He's Max's friend, it's unbelievable that I... having an affair with my husband's friend..." Bella sighed.

The incident at the bar was no accident for her. If it wasn't for Levi, she would have had sex with another man anyway. It's just that Bella didn't expect the world to be so small, that she and Levi could meet again so quickly.

Bella want to stay any longer, but she had been in the restroom for more than ten minutes, and if she continued to do so, Max and Pearl would come looking for her. She tried to appear as normal as possible and confidently stepped out.

"It's okay, I can handle it." Bella clenched her fist to comfort herself.

"What can you handle?" Levi couldn't help but laugh at her silly appearance.

Levi's words startled Bella, "Hey, why are you here? Are you following me, you nervous wreck!"

Levi didn't have any call, he just wanted to follow her but needed a reasonable excuse, which was to receive a call from someone. Fortunately, no one passed by where he was standing, and he waited for Bella for ten minutes before she come out.

"Why were you in there for so long? Are you having stomach pain? Do you have trouble digesting? Let me check." Levi approached and tried to touch her stomach, but Bella pushed him away with force.

"Hey, you nervous wreck! How dare you touch me? Move away quickly, I have to go back." Bella pushed away this shameless man.

Levi stepped forward to block her, and Bella, not being careful, bumped into his firm chest.

"Are you trying to fall into my chest on purpose? Well, there are many women-" Levi was still feeling satisfied then he received a punch from Bella. He held his stomach in pain and bent over.

"I don't care if you're a saint, what I hate the most is men like you who have no integrity. Don't act as if you understand me like that," Bella looked coldly at Levi's appearance. If Levi wasn't Max's friend, she might have had a different view of him, but he was just as shameless as Max, which made her uncomfortable.

Levi wanted to keep her, but he was a bit slow, and the punch just now was not merciful at all. He didn't expect her to be so angry, and he just wanted to get her attention.

"Ha... you're definitely an interesting and daring girl... next time I'll definitely smack your round butt, Bella."
