An hour later There was a man pacing back and forth in the waiting room. He looked at Diane and he had to wonder what happened while he was gone. He had left to go to a meeting and his daughter was fine. Then he received the phone call. Dropping everything he rushed to the hospital to find out that his daughter was in the operating room and no one could give him the answer he needed.
Diane was trying to tell him that she had no idea what happened. She was trying to comfort him and tell her that everything would be fine. She was his daughter after all. She was such a strong girl.
“What happened really?” the father said as he looked at his wife.
“I have no idea. She just started to scream and then she ended up calling the paramedics without telling me.” Diane said as she looked at her husband. She was acting like the caring loving step-mother. “You know if something was wrong I would have helped her in anyway. I have helped raise her. She is just as important to me as she is to you.”
“I am not sure about that.” Jade’s father said rather loudly. “I know you were mad at her and took out the fact you can’t have kids out on her.”
“That is a low blow.” Diane said.
“And my daughter is in the hospital while under your supervision.” He said as he turned away from her. He was to upset to deal with his wife and her jealousy of the girl. His only child.
A nurse walked out of the room. She looked like she had been through the wringer and was in a hurry. “What is going on with Jade?” he said as he went and blocked her way from them. He had been watching for anyone to be able to tell him news of Jade.
“I don’t have time to talk to you. Your grandson is doing well and in the nursey though he was born a few weeks early. Jade is not doing well. She lost to much blood during the surgery. I have to go and get her some more. Please get out of my way.”
“I can donate!” he said as he looked at the nurse. “I am her father.”
“What blood type are you?” the nurse asked quickly knowing ever second she wasted the patient was suffering.
“B positive.” Her father said. She was having him walk with her as she went to get more of the life saving blood for Jade. They walked by the department where he could get cross tested quickly while she got more of the universal type. The nurse had the tech rush the test and the cross typing as well.
When the nurse came back the tech went to talk to her. They were speaking in hushed tones. That was when the nurse shook her head. Then walked over to the older man who was waiting to donate to his daughter.
“Sir I am sorry but you are not a match to your daughter.” The nurse said.
“Of course I am!” the man said. “I have to do something to help!”
“Sir. The blood test proved you are not her biological father.” The nurse said. “Her blood type is not compatible with yours.”
“What?” the man said as he stood there and just looked blank. His daughter wasn;t his child? She wasn;t his biological child? Nothing made sense to him. It felt like his heart had been ripped out. There was nothing that could help the bleakness that filled him. He felt like the world had disappeared.
It took him close to an hour to go back upstairs. He saw Dian there and she was looking over Jade who was still out from her surgery. She was glaring at the girl. She looked up to her husband and looked him over, “It doesn’t look like you gave her any blood.”
“I couldn’t.” He said as he looked at his wife. “She isn’t my daughter.”
“What?” Diane asked as she looked at her husband.
“Her blood test proved it. She isn’t mine.” The man said defeated.
“You have put so much into the girl.” Diane said as she began to laugh. “You have given her everything and you spoiled her. She isn’t even yours. You are nothing more than an idiot who got caught.”
The older man walked out of the room. His heart was shattered into a thousand pieces. There was nothing that anyone could do. There were no words that could help him right now. He didn’t even want to look at the girl.
Jade came to a few hours later. She was blinking her eyes open. Though the pain was over wracking her tiny body. She could feel some of it lingering in her muscles. She looked over and saw her step-mother looking out the window. “Where is my baby?” Jade asked.
“Oh you’re awake.” Dian said as she turned and her face was in a deep scowl. “Good. I think you and I have a few things to discuss.”
“Where is my dad?” She asked as she looked at her step mother again and wondered what was going on.
“Your what? I think you mean my husband not your father.” Diane said as she walked over and looked at the girl in the bed. She was laughing hard as she spoke. Though she was nearing the bed by taking calculated steps. “My husband is not your father. Your stupid slut of a mother lied to him. A blood test proved it. Now you are nothing but a bastard. Like you son. A bastard’s bastard. Now this is what will happen. You get nothing. Your father never wants to see you again. Don’t think you can talk your way out of this. You are nothing. Worthless. Absolutely trash. Nothing you can do will ever change that. Do not bother asking for help from him. He did enough for you. Leave us alone.”
The older woman was near spitting on Jade every time she spoke. There was nothing holding her back and then she turned on her heel and was out the door. Jade was in shock.
If that wasn;t bad enough one of the nurses walked in shortly after. “Your stepmother just terminated your health care. I am sorry but this a private hospital. Both you and your child will be discharged in an hour.”
“What?” Jade asked as she looked at herself knowing she now had no father or place to go. Her life was falling apart quickly and there was nothing she could do to hold it together.
The nurse came in again and had her son there in front of her. The two were packed up and there was a wheelchair as well. They were being thrown out. Jade Winchester had nothing in the world except her son as the nurse wheeled her out into the night. She was in pain still from the stitched in her abdomen.
The storm had somewhat cleared. Though it was wet everywhere she was left under the awning of the hospital. Jade looked around trying to figure out what she was going to do when a shadow appeared off to the side of the building. She was lost and confused as well.
“Are you okay?” a deep voice asked from the dark.
“no.” Jade responded.
“Well lets see if we can fix this.” The voice said again as it began to move a little closer.
The shadow of a person who was clearly a man with his outline and his voice as well gave that away. He approached slowly to not frighten the young girl. She looked like she had gone through hell during her stay at the private hospital. He knew his size was often the one factor that made people afraid of him.“Are you waiting for someone?” he asked as he looked over at her in the wheelchair. He then saw the baby that was in her arms. He was now even more concerned because the weather was changing quickly. Though the storm had passed, the air had a chill to it.“No,” she said as the tears began to fall from her eyes. Jade had realized there was no one to help her. She was alone and in pain. She had nothing for herself or the baby. She was utterly alone.“Now, please stop crying. I said I will help you try and fix this.” He stated as he moved to her side. He looked down into her face and
Jade’s wide eyes were enough to draw a chuckle from Benton as he watched her thinking. “The Morgue?” she asked as she looked around to all the walls.“Well, you are at the back end of the morgue. This is a storage room. It is the safest place for you right now. Now I will be back in a little bit with something for your pain. Try and relax if you can. Just no, there will be no one around to bother you. If something happens and you need help, just scream. I won’t be that far away.” Benton said as he walked out of the room.He walked down the walk, and she could hear his footstep as they got lighter and lighter. Jade was looking around at the walls and the room itself. It wasn't anything like the rest of the hospital. She didn’t even know this place was here. Thinking back to the times she had volunteered at the hospital years prior. There was nothing on the plans she had been given to help her ge
Benton looked at the box of supplies everyone had gathered and dropped off in his office over the past two hours. It had grown to the point it was overfilling. He grabbed a trolly to help him get everything on it so he could wheel it out to his car. He was eternally grateful that no one had asked any questions of him. They seemed to not care at the fact he wanted these items or the fact there was a baby, let alone a newborn baby, in his office. He had fashioned a wrap to be able to hold the baby and have use of his hands. He had blankets wrapped around the newborn. Benton went out to his car and loaded up the backseat with the box with all the supplies. He looked at everything that was there and then down to the infant. That was the one thing he didn’t have. A car seat. Though he didn’t plan for an accident, he knew that he wouldn’t feel comfortable driving with a newborn without the proper seat for it. He wasn't sur
As they neared the townhouse, she was awake again. Though she had wide eyes, she didn’t say anything. It wasn't until they pulled into the driveway for the house and then into his garage that she looked at him. “What are your plans for me?” Jade asked.“To get you on your feet in a little while,” Benton said as he looked at her. “Jade, I know that you have had a lot thrown at you in the past few hours. I am sure that you have all the horror stories going through your mind right now as well. I want you to know that I will do what I can to help you right now. You need to be in a hospital, but after what I heard, I doubt any in this area won't do the same to you and throw you out. I might not have a hospital, but I am a doctor. I can help you heal and then figure out what comes next. That is all I want to do. I don’t have all that much, but you are welcome here. I don't think that you have many other choices.&
When he had finally woke up the next day, he was glad that he had the day off. He knew that he had a bunch of stuff to do and get for the baby. It wasn't like he had actually planned on any of those, so he didn't have plans for the day that he had to cancel or anything. It was just he was never supposed to be going to the store to buy a bunch of things for a baby. At this point, he didn't really care what he had to spend to make sure that the baby was taken care of for the moment. That was an easy thing to do. Luckily newborns sleep most of the time, and they only need to be changed and fed.“Good morning Jade,” he said as he walked out of the room and looked at her as she was sitting comfortably on the couch. He knew that everything was rough for her, and she was trying to take care of herself. He had left the bag of supplies that she might need for the night and everything else by her, and it looked like she had gone through and chang
“My mother left when I was a few months old,” Jade said as she looked at him, he could see in her eyes the pain of thinking about it. “I was passed around to different family members I was finally given back to my father. Since I was about a year old, he was the one who who is there. So when he who is getting married again a few years ago, I was really excited that my dad finally gave me a mother. Unfortunately, my stepmother was not what anyone had it actually plan for. She began taking over everything in the house in a way that even my father wasn't exactly pleased with, but she also came from money as well. He needed the capital for his newest business. He does a lot of business overseas, and she was basically an heiress to one of them. That's how they met.”“I don't want to upset you with these questions. I just need to know what's going on around you so I can help you better.” Jonathan said as the baby started to make a l
Jonathan let Jay dressed for the past few hours while he went to the store and got a bunch of baby things, including clothes and some clothes for her as well. He also got a playpen so they could actually have a good place for the baby to sleep. It was higher as well, so it would make things easier for her to be able to reach over from the couch. He had also gotten a few other over-the-counter medical supplies that he was hoping were going to help him make sure that she healed quickly and safely. There were a lot of things that he was trying to do, but he knew that he had to do that at least. He also loaded up the car with a bunch of food and things that he knew that she would probably need to eat. However, they had to be simple enough that he could actually cook them. That was one of the big things for him. He normally had simple food. And by simple food, he meant things that he ordered. He was in a very good cook, but he was willing to try to make quite a few t
“I don't think that I can actually leave for a little girl. I thought that's what you were saying last night.” Jade said she looked at him. She wasn't trying to be difficult. She was just trying to make sure that she understood him from the night before. Everything hurt so bad . that she was still trying to figure out what was real and what was induced by the pain.“You can go under physician assistance.” he said with a chuckle as he looked at her. “we have the new car seat, so we don't have to worry about the little guy. Have you actually thought of a name for him?”“he was going to have his father's name, but at this point, I think it's kind of ridiculous to do he's not here to enjoy his son, and there really isn't any real tie between them as it is I'll never have things that were plan for.” She said she looked at him, “I really hadn't even really thought about a different type of name
