The Voice in My Head
Luka didn’t get much sleep that night. He kept recalling the voice in his head. He could not understand why he was becoming so obsessed with it and was confused about what had actually happened last night when he was at the cliff. He remembered the huge wave. He was not afraid of it, instead, he felt one with it. His emotions resonated with the fury of the wave. He knew it was destructive, but he also knew it would not reach the people at the banquet hall whom he cared for, it would have probably swallowed him up and taken out the rest of the villages in its wake. Then the voice sounded from within him, and his raging emotions were instantly stilled, just like the waves of the ocean. Could it be that his emotions were somehow linked to the ocean, thought Luka? I mean he was a werewolf, an Alpha from a Royal Bloodline, so he guessed it could be possible, but why hadn’t his parents mentioned anything to him before. Did they even know?
These questions left Luka feeling restless the entire night. He needed to shift again and feel the earth beneath his feet. He jumped out of bed and walked towards the edge of his balcony. His room was 3 stories up and had a beautiful view of his beloved cliff. Without hesitating Luka bounded over the balcony and shifted mid-air, landing on all fours. He took a deep breath and calmed his nerves, relying on his wolf senses to guide him through his muddled thoughts. He instantly felt better. He enjoyed being in wolf form, and he especially enjoyed the company of his wolf, Drago. Drago had been very quiet since last night, but Luka was too caught up in his own head to notice, otherwise, he would have known something was off with Drago. Luka trotted towards the edge of the cliff once more. The ocean below was still, barely any waves crashing, just calm ripples of water. He could still feel the presence of the voice within him but it was just out of his reach. He tried to reach out to it, summon it to speak again, but was not able to make a connection. Starting to feel agitated and frustrated he noticed the waves below becoming choppier and more forceful. “Why is this happening”, he thought to himself. Then he heard the voice faintly brush across him, “Wait for me”. Luka turned around thinking perhaps someone was playing tricks on him but there was no one around, no scent in the air. The soft voice sounded again, “Wait for me”, before completing receding. Luka was confused and exhausted. He needed to get some sleep and clear his head before speaking to his parents about this. He made his way home.
Confrontation As Luka approached the castle his breathing became laboured. He could feel heat rolling off of him and his eyes became dark swirls. He entered the Hallway and made his way to the dining Hall where he knew his parents would be. Queen Irina gasped when she saw Luka. “Luka!" she shouted, "you have to calm down, take deep breaths”, his mother hurriedly advised him. Luka knew then that his parents had been hiding something from him for a very long time. They had knowing looks on their face. Just then Lyle entered the Hall with Rosalie and instantly knew something was wrong. He took one look at Luka and asked, “what is going on here, why all the screaming?” Luka turned around and his face wore a mask of anger and betrayal, but upon seeing Lyles’ mate with him and the shocked look she wore, he calmed down so as not to frighten the young woman. Luka replied in a clipped tone, “mum and dad have been hiding something from us, something important, and I w
The TruthThe King cleared his throat and began his story. “When your mum was pregnant with you and your brother, she was not aware that she was pregnant with Twins. Her pregnancy was a very difficult one. The weather was extreme during those 10 months. We experienced days so hot we thought we would be burnt to a crisp by the sun. There were volcanic eruptions, lava spewed high and wide, incinerating everything in its’ path. Days were so cold, we thought the breath would freeze in our throats. The seas were rough, there were huge waves, many tsunamis devastating the villages in the lower areas. This is one of the reasons why I chose to build our castle atop this Hill. It is the highest point in the world and no volcanic eruption can reach or affect us. No wave can reach high enough to wash over us. What is strange though, is that when these weather anomalies occurred, your mother experienced terrible pregnancy pains and discomfort. Not being able
20 CenturiesLuka was the first to ask his father, “why 20 centuries? That is 2000 years, that is a ridiculously long time to be alive.” The King replied, “You are not just an alpha, you and your brother are Tsunami Alphas, and can live up to thousands of years. If you find your mate, you have the option of aging as normal humans do, and pass on to eternal rest, or you can live up till any age you desire. It is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you get to spend eternity with your mate, and a curse because you could live hundreds of years without your mate, and then eventually cause the destruction of every living being on this earth. The same goes for the rest of our family. Each of us can live up to thousands of years, however, our lives are not tied to the finding of one's mate, the way yours and Lyles are. Instead, our lives are tied to you finding your mate. So our fate rests in this one event alone.”There
Out in the OpenLyle and Luka were shocked, stunned, Silent. They could feel each other's emotions, hear the questions in each other's heads, but on the outside, no one could tell. Rosalie touched Lyles arm gently and tried to speak to him but he just shook his head gently at her and excused himself. Luka on the other hand sat at the table, looking ahead. He could not explain but how, but now he knew for sure that the person whose voice in his head was hit, Mate. Her whispered words “wait for me”, did not sound very reassuring. Probably because she was not close by, or he would not be meeting her any time soon. Somehow she managed to connect with him through their mate bond to offer him some hope, but he still did not understand why.Lyle had to get out of the house and get some fresh air. Luka's emotions were so strong and raw, it was clawing at Lyle. He pitied his twin. He understood the respon
Lyle and Rosalie Completing the Mate Bond After returning to the castle, Lyle went in search of Rosalie and found her lounging in the parlour. Her hair was open and hung down to her breasts. She had on a simple white long dress with a green ribbon tied around the waste. She looked ethereal. So pure. His heartstrings pulled at the sight of her. Rosalie sensed his presence and turned to look at him. As their eyes met sparks ignited. Rosalie could see flames at the corners of Lyles’ eyes, she felt the heat resonate deep within her core. She wasn’t sure if it was because of what King Alexander had shared with them, but both Lyle and Rosalie needed to complete the mate bond. They were feeling far to edgy and needy and their wolves were getting very restless inside them, having not completed the bond. Since Lyle found his mate, she automatically became a member of his pack and shared a mind link with him. Right now Lyle could
1 Month LaterIt has been 30 days since the Twins had turned eighteen. A New moon, a full moon, and still Luka Had not found his mate. Even his wolf Drago had changed. Usually, his voice was a prominent feature in his mind, but after finding out the truth about the fate of the world being tied to them fining their mate, he had become uncharacteristically quiet. Luke reached into the far corners of his mind, coaxing his wolf out. He could feel him stir, but something felt different.“Where have you been hiding?”, he asked Drago. “I’m not hiding, I’m just processing everything that Queen Irina said to you. It is really a lot to take in and deal with. The implications of not finding our mate is huge”, replied Drago. Luka thought about this for a few minutes before he said, “It has been thirty days since we turned eighteen. Thirty days is nothing compared to 2000 years. If I am going to
Unfamiliar ScentIt was now three months since the Twins became Alpha, up until now life was pretty simple, easy-going. Boring even. Luka did not have much to do so he decided to coax his wolf out and go for a run. They both could do with the feel of the earth beneath their paws.Drago was excited about the run and emerged almost as soon as Luka reached for him. Bounding towards the edge of the cliff and then over the steep terrain, Drago was in his element. He was a huge wolf. Being an Alpha he was bigger than most of the wolves his age and even older. He had a thick black coat of fur, and eyes as black as the night, but if you looked carefully at his eyes, it looked like swirls of huge waves were crashing within them. He was a magnificent beast. Both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. There was no mistaking that he was an Alpha. Luka missed running in his wolf form with his brother. Lyle and Rosalie spent most of t
Pack GatheringThat evening Luka and Lyle had sent word to their pack and the surround packs via the mind link and through word of mouth that a meeting was to be held at their castle grounds. There were over 1000 wolves gathered, both men and women, eagerly awaiting what the new Alphas were to announce. Since Luka had gotten the first trace of the foreign scent, and his sense of smell was more acute than King Alexander and Lyle, he led the meeting. “Welcome pack members. This is the first meeting which you are attending where Lyle and myself have taken over as Alphas. Thank you for being here. As much as I would like to rely good news to you, I am not sure what I am about to share with you, bodes well for us.” There was a lot of hushed whispers amongst the crowd, everyone looked concerned. What Could Alpha Luka be talking about. Luka continued, “Today while I was out for a run, my wolf Drago scented a foreign smell over the cli
