Chapter 6

Trembling Earth

King Alexander and Queen Irina were the first to notice the trembling within the Hall and instantly knew that something was wrong with Luka. They knew that Lukas was tied to the ocean, a water element. and Lyle was tied to the sun, a fire element. They never disclosed much of this to the boys growing up because they did not want them to become aware of their gifts and curse. There was never much of a threat or battles while the Twins were growing up, so most of the time their emotions were in check. The King and Queen had planned to tell the boys after they turned 18 and became Alpha.

Lyle, who was off at the end of the Hall, doting on his mate snapped his head up the minute he sensed that something was off with Luka. He felt torn between leaving his newfound mate and running off to find his Twin. He could not only feel the trembling of the earth but he was also engulfed with the swirl off emotions that Luka was feeling. He grabbed Rosalie's hand and made his way towards his parents who took one look at him and realized that he was going after Luka to see what was going on. As he reached his parents and asked them to please see to Rosalie for a few minutes while he went out to look for his brother, there was a roaring whooshing sound coming from outside. Frightened, Rosalie grabbed onto Luka's arm and asked, “What is that loud noise and why is the ground trembling beneath our feet. Are we experiencing an earth tremor?”

Lyle looked at his parents knowingly and was about to stride out the door when the trembling and the noise stopped. The rest of the people in the hall also noticed the strange events and were whispering nervously amongst themselves. More confused than before, Lyle was about to search for his brother when suddenly Luka strode through the door, calm and collected, averting his brothers and parents' eyes, he mumbled, “nothing to worry about.” Lyle could sense that something was still off with Luka but did not press the matter further so as not to draw further attention to them. Luka excused himself early that night and spent the rest of the night sitting on his bedroom terrace and staring out at the ocean. He had too many questions, the most important of which, who was the woman whose voice he had heard?
