Chapter One: Endless Day

Emelia's POV

Another great start to another endless day.

"Wake up, shithead, you need to make breakfast!" my foster brother Axel announced, and before I could react, I felt frozen. Not frozen in fear but frozen in the most literal sense you could imagine. Axel had dumped an entire bucket of ice water all over me.

"What the fuck, Axe?l" I screeched.

Trying not to let the icy water soak through the small makeshift mattress, I grabbed the DIY blanket I had stitched together using clothes the pack had thrown away and tried to absorb the water. It would be easy to dry the blanket by hanging it outside since it's summer and currently 86 degrees outside. The mattress, on the other hand not so much. If I can't get it dry enough, I would be sleeping on a damp surface until it fully dries. My mattress isn't a normal mattress filled with springs and regular mattress filling. Nope my foster parents thought it fitting to make a mattress with feathers, hay, straw and grass. Similar to those from the 1800's. The less money they had to spend on me the better. Given they money they recieve for me is from the pack, they would rather use on themselves or Axel. Hence his sence of entitlement.

"Time. To. Make. Breakfast. Are you deaf Mia? Or are you just stupid?" Axel hissed.

"Now hurry up, or i'll have mom come down here, and she will do a lot worse than a bucket of water." He laughed

"I'm coming" I winced at the thought of my foster mother, Victoria, having to come down here after Axel did. She would probably chain me in the shed. Yes, the shed. If I misbeahved in their eyes, I would be dragged to the shed that was in the backyard. They had it soundproofed so that regardless of how much I scream or bed for help, they wont be bothered. The longest I've been locked in the shed was 48 hours.

Lifting myself off of my now very damp bed, I shuffle across the cold basement floor and reach for my school uniform. I could still see Axel in the middle of the room, staring at me. His eyes trailing my body in a way that made me shudder. It confused me, but it terrified me more. As I turned to face him, I could see the shift in his eyes. His eyes were now filled with lust. His light blue eyes were now a pale black. As he stared at me I already knew what he was thinking.

"You know.." He started "Maybe I could put in a good word for you with mom and dad if you behaved."

I knew exactly what he meant.

Fear creeping in making me start to tremble, not a lot but enough for Axel to notice. Everything around me started to fade as he took a step closer. Almost as if the Goddess herself was looking down on Victoria called Axel.

Axel turns on his heels and proceeds to the stairs. "Later, Mia" he whispers, fully knowing I hear him as a half grin forms on his lips.

As my body finally relaxes I focus on getting ready for school.

"You should let me deal with Axel, after I'm finished with him we could use him as burger on a grill." My wolf, Lyla scoffed. "Just let me out and we can run far away from this hellhole." Lyla begs. Lyla appeared three years ago the day after my parents passed away. I was fifteen and wolves usually dont come until their human counterpart turns eighteen, the earliest on record was seventeen. However I haven't told anyone that I already got mine, this pack snt very fond of people that are different. I remember my mother telling me that I was special. To what extent, I'm not sure.

"Lyla we only have two more weeks until we can legally leave without consequence. Without worrying if they will search for me" I explained to her

"Yeah, but.." she started

"No, Lyla. We can deal with this bullshit for another two weeks."  And with that i block her out. I get myself dressed and walk up the stairs and into the kitchen. As I start on breakfast I hear the shuffling and pitter patter of feet against the linoleum floor.

"Good morning Emelia did you sleep well?" Jane our second housekeeper asked as she walked in with an armful of groceries.

"Yes as well as I could Jane, how was the market today?" I asked, thankful she did the market runs.

"It was lovely, not too busy." Jane explained. Jane was the only person that was truly nice to me. Who cared about me. I didn't even care that she was well into her sixtes, Jane is the closest thing to a mother I have now.

I didn't even realize how fast time flew by, as it was that easy to talk to her. It had already been a half hour and breakfast was finally finished. And almost as if a bell rang, everyone started to flow into the dining room. As I set out the fresh bacon, eggs, pancakes and waffles Jane started pouring the orange juice and coffee. Axel always opts out for orange juice.

As the plates slowly start to empty and the room begins to fall silent, I quietly go about clearing the table.

"Mia!" my foster father Blake bellowed I flinched as I heard the anger in his voice.

"Yes sir?" I thought about the morning and if I had done something to warrent his anger. But unfortunately for me, I couldn't think of anything that i may have done wrong.

"You will come straight home today. We need this house spotless as we have guests arriving tomorrow morning. Is that understood?"

"Understood sir." I declare, my head lowerd as to not meet his gaze. Once i have all the dishes cleared and washed i begin the walk to school. Thankfully it's not far, maybe about ten minutes.

"Girl you have to slow down, it's not like school wont be there by the time we arrive." I jumped at that statement. Turning around to see Jasmine, my best friend. My only friend. Jasmine has always been more than she seems. Her charcoal black waist length hair always flowing in the wind. Her green eyes always hidden behing her big Harry Potter glasses. Seemingly enough shes actually fairly popular. We've been best friends since I came to Starry Moon. Her friendship has always been the light at the end of the tunnel.

I slow my pace, allowing her to catch up.

"Jaz, I don't know how much more i can take. That house is killing me."

"Oh, Emmie" Her favorite nickname for me, at least for the moment. When we met she would insist on calling me Emelia. After a few months it switched to Mia, which is where Axel picked it up from. She had accidentally called me Mia in front of my house while Axel was making out with his girlfriend Riley. In whom is the reigning queen bee of High School. Axel said the name reminded him of a dog. Loyal and obedient he said. Immediately after Jaz replaced my nickname is Emmie.

"Emmie, only a few more weeks and you'll be free. Free to roam and run as you please. And you will finally have your wolf! They wont be able to bully you anymore. Not Blake, Victoria,Axel and certainly not Riley. I can sense you're like crazy powerful, and I'm not just talking mentally." she announced happily. Always my cheerleader this one it. And i wouldnt have it any other way.

We finally reach the school and i pause, not ready to enter the doors. I look at Jaz and almost like she can feel it herself, she sets her hand on my shoulder.

"You got this babes, and I'm right by your side. They cant hurt you if you dont let them."

Those words starting to repeat in my head. Dont let them. Dont let them. I nod my head and we make our way into the tall building swelling with moody, hormonal and horny teenage wolves.

"You got this. We can do anything and that includes ignoring those assholes." Lyla encouraged, causing me to smile. With that i opened the doors and walked to my locker. And right when everything started to seem okay, I heard the sqweekiest and most irritating voice. One that i knew all too well.

Well today is going to be an endless day isnt it Lyla.
