They continued dancing, their bodies moving slowly in sync with the music, the rest of the world fading into the background. Lara allowed herself, for the first time in a long while, to simply be in the moment.

When the song finally ended, Reagan slowly loosened his hold before placing his hand on her back as he led her back to their table.

They had barely settled back into their seats when two familiar figures approached—Duke and Ash.

Duke moved ahead, his strides clipped and tense. Without waiting for an invitation, he took the seat directly across from them. His eyes locked onto Lara and Reagan, burning with unspoken questions.

Ash, on the other hand, offered a polite smile. “Good evening, Reagan. Lara.”

“Hey,” Reagan said smoothly, nodding at him.

Lara smiled back. “Hi, Ash. Good to see you again.”

“Likewise,” Ash said before taking a seat beside Duke.

The moment of courtesy barely passed when Duke leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, his gaze sharp and unrelen

The applause faded as the final item of the auction was won, and the host returned to the stage, smiling as he raised his microphone once again. “And now, for the most important part of the evening,” he announced warmly, “we invite everyone to participate in our call for donations. You may raise your paddles if you’d like to pledge support, or feel free to scan the QR codes placed on your tables. Every amount goes a long way in changing lives.” Guests around the ballroom started raising their paddles once more, some scanned the QR codes while others quietly approached the donation booths on the side. Lara didn’t hesitate. She lifted her paddle and made her contribution. It wasn’t a grand gesture, but it was sincere—her way of supporting a cause that clearly mattered to many in the room. She clapped politely as more guests joined in the donation drive. Shortly after, she leaned toward Reagan. “I’ll just go to the restroom,” she murmured. Reagan nodded. “Alright. Take your time.” L

Soon enough, Ash and Duke slipped into their own world, their whispered banter bouncing between affectionate and sarcastic, like no one else was even there. Lara smiled softly at the sight. There was something comforting about being near people who were unafraid to be themselves. Then she felt something graze her pinky finger. She flinched slightly and turned her head to Reagan, who was now leaning against the table with his elbow propped up. His chin rested on the back of his hand as he looked at her, his green eyes steady, curious, and slightly amused. “What?” Lara asked, her voice soft. “I’m still curious,” Reagan murmured, gently toying with her pinky finger. “What would’ve been your answer to Ash’s question?” Lara blinked. “You’re actually serious about that?” He gave a light shrug, the corner of his lips twitching in amusement. “I want to hear it,” he said, his gaze still on her. “Who do you think is more good-looking, hmm?” His pinky curled lightly around hers. Lara’s h

Soon, the four of them made their way to a table marked for VIP guests. It was positioned with a clear view of the stage, tucked slightly apart from the other seating areas. Everything about it screamed exclusivity, from the polished silverware to the custom-printed name cards. Servers moved gracefully between tables, offering trays of wine, champagne, and signature cocktails. Not far from their table was a lavish buffet, lined with rows of meticulously plated appetizers, charcuterie boards, and decadent desserts—from jewel-toned macarons to glossy fruit tarts and artisan chocolates.Lara’s gaze lingered on the dessert table a little longer than she intended. She wasn’t particularly hungry, but everything looked too pretty not to try.Reagan, who was mid-conversation with Noah, noticed her. Without missing a beat, he leaned slightly toward her. “Do you want to try some?” he asked, his voice low, warm. She blinked and gave a small, sheepish smile. “Oh... they just look really good,”“

The car ride was calm and quiet, save for the soft hum of classical jazz drifting from the speaker. Lara sat comfortably in the passenger seat, her fingers loosely folded in her lap, as she gazed out the window, watching the blur of Manila’s city lights pass them by in streaks of gold and red. She turned to him, her voice gentle but curious. “So… where exactly is the gala being held? And what’s it about?” Reagan glanced at her, one hand on the wheel, the other resting loosely on the gear. “At the Grand Hyatt Manila,” he replied. “One of my key investors is hosting it. Some of my partners will be there, along with a few VIPs. It’s mainly a networking event, but the heart of it is the charity auction.” “An auction?” she repeated, interest sparking in her eyes. Reagan nodded. “The proceeds will go to youth mental health programs—therapy, counseling, crisis interventions, school support systems. It’s a cause close to the host’s heart. His daughter’s been battling with bipolar depr

Lara woke up early the next day, the soft morning light filtering through her bedroom curtains.Tonight was the charity gala, and she needed to find something to wear.It had been a while since she attended such a formal event. The last time felt like a lifetime ago, when she was still trying to play the part of Lucas’ wife in public. Most of her old gowns were gone, donated or left behind when she moved out. Right now, she didn’t have anything in her wardrobe fit for a night like this. She needed something new. Something that felt like her. After breakfast, she took a quick shower and changed into a simple outfit—black trousers and a crisp white top. She was halfway through blow-drying her hair when the sound of the doorbell rang out, sharp and unexpected.Lara paused, frowning slightly. Who could that be? She wasn’t expecting anyone. She turned off the blow dryer and set it on her vanity table before stepping out of her room. Quietly descending the stairs, she padded to the front do
