LOGINAlec P.O.V.
“A.. Alpha, welcome?” The young man says, looking at his former leaders with confusion.
“We chose to initiate him before the High Council meeting, and then bring him back with us. He is going to live here now, and we are going to help him get settled.” Aunt Ruby explains, her eyes glittering in amusement.
“You could have warned us, sis.” Aunt Rose says, crossing her eyes lightly, while uncle Xander wraps his arms around her waist.
“I could have, but where’s the fun in that?” Aunt Ruby answers, giggling at her twin’s scowling face. “Did you get initiated into the Wolf Council yet, Xander?” She asks instead, and he nods. “Good. Then we almost have everything settled.”
Aunt Ruby waves at the young man, who is now looking between all of us with a serious face. He is consuming all of the information being thrown around, and after the initial shock, he seems very steady and balanced. His aura is calm, warm and inviting, a nice mixture for someone you would consider for a ranked position.
“Alec, meet Theo Ollin, one of the Beta prospects we gathered for you.”
“Nice to meet you Theo,” I say, thrusting my hand forward.
He immediately grasps it, shaking my hand firmly but without testing my strength. Something everyone does because of Athena I’ve learned. Then he eyes my sister, bows his head in respect and greets her with the proper title and a mild voice. No hidden judgement, no sneer. Just curiosity it seems.
“You are a special kind of man if you’re mated to her, I almost feel sorry for you.” Athena says, her dry voice making Tara stick her tongue out.
“I think all mated men are captured in one way or another, Alpha Queen, and we are all fools if we do not treat our woman like the treasure that she is. Tara might be a handful, but she is mine, and I will gladly handle everything thrown my way.” Theo answers, his voice light and warm as his aura.
“Nice answer, well done. You should just choose him and not see the other prospects, you will not get anyone more balanced. And Tara is going to be your Beta female. Win/win, brother.” Athena says, nodding to Theo as Tara wraps her arms around him again and kisses his cheek.
“I heard the dig at his Royal-pain-in-my-ass, and you are right Theo, but you don’t have the full picture. No one but he and Athena really does, but I heard it and I agree. Would you like to be my Beta?”
“It would be my honor, Alpha Alec!” He says, smiling.
Thena shoves me for my comment about King Idiotus, but he really is an idiot if he thinks he can keep playing games with my sister. I love her, but she is blind when it comes to him, and I can’t say I really understand because I’m not mated myself, but I want to protect her, and I’m going to - even if it has to be from him.
“Great! I, Alpha Alec Avalon Astor, hereby initiate Theo Ollin as my functioning Beta.” The aura in him awakens, and I smile. “We’ll get the ritual and ceremony over with when I have my official Alpha ceremony, but you are by all means and laws the Beta of Silver Dawn, which makes Tara the Beta female, if she accepts you.”
“I accept you!” Tara says before anyone can protest, and then her aura wake as well. It’s way more powerful than Theo’s, but that is due to her divine mother’s influence.
“Tara, isn’t he a bit you for you?” Aunt Rose asks, looking between the couple, but Tara shakes her head.
She has been living with aunt Rose and uncle Xander for the last 10 years, as my uncle Oloron moved to the divine realms to be with his mate, the Goddess Tilara. They check in, and Tara can visit when she wants, but she prefers to be here with us, who she calls her real family.
“Why would it bother me?” She asks, which I agree with. Age is just a number anyway.
“You are 8 years apart.” Aunt Rose says, making Theo gape.
“You are not of age? How are you not of.. But you seem so.. But the bond..”
“I’m 28, dimwit.” Tara dryly replies to her panicked man, who immediately calms down.
“I should have guessed that. Fuck I panicked. Sorry.. Why would that bother anyone?” He asks, his eyes locking with Rose’s, who squirms uncomfortably.
“It wouldn’t, but I think my sister has a hard time with the thought of Tara having a mate, and one that is younger than her. Not that it matters.” Aunt Ruby says, finality in her voice. “Why don’t everyone but Alec, Theo and Tara go inside with Nicholas, and I’ll show them around.”
Rose mumbles under her breath, but Athena links her arm with our aunt, mom on her other side, telling her about the High Council meeting, and Caspian's today’s special stupidity platter, while leading her inside. My uncles follow with a smile, and then aunt Ruby gestures for us to follow her. Mom has been unusually quiet so far, but I have a feeling she is waiting for something to happen, or someone? I can’t shake that feeling, but that might just be jitters of finally being here.
She leads us around the packhouse, into the grounds and greets the people who are out. Soon the rumors about a new Alpha and Beta spreads like wildfire, and people swarm the streets to meet us. They know me and they know Tara, but they don’t know us as packleaders. Aunt Ruby keeps insisting we’re good for the pack, and to give us a chance.
Most people are eager to have a new Alpha, but some don't seem all too happy. I guess you can please everyone. Everything comes to a head when a young man pushes through a clump of people, who has surrounded us to greet me, and angrily asks if it’s true I already initiated Theo as my Beta?
“It’s true, yes.” I answer, tilting my head to the side.
Something in the young man's eyes catches my attention, and not in a good way. He is a hothead, stubborn and entitled. He was probably born to ranked people, promised by them he would inherit the title, and feeling cheated.
“You stole the position from my father, and by default from me, without even asking.” He says, rushing forward to attack me.
I step aside, tripping him and letting him topple over. He lands ungracefully on the ground, swearing and spitting.
“Your father was well informed Malcolm as I mindlinked him for approval before telling Alec to go ahead.” Aunt Ruby calmly states. “You knew you were not one of the Beta prospects we were looking at for future leadership, and you also know why.”
“It’s my birthright, and you can’t just take it away. Those fucking bitches had it coming.” That catches my attention as he gets back on his feet, but I’m taken by surprise that he immediately lunges for me. Before I can move however, a female jumps in front of me, roundkick Malcolm in the face, and lands with perfect balance.
“Those women were innocent, and you were on a powertrip you did not deserve, you absolute disgusting waste of space.” The woman says, her back to me.
Malcolm glares at her, his eyes filled with hatred.
“What did he do?” I ask, looking at my aunt, but it’s the young woman who answers.
“He has raped Omega’s and when he was found out his fucking father kept him protected. One night he tried again, but this time he returned home black and blue from the beating I laid upon his body. He deserves to die or be banished.”
“The Elders would not accept..” Aunt Ruby says, and I know her dilemma all too well, but I am a new Alpha and the Elder can go screw themselves in this instant.
“I, Alpha Alec of Silver Dawn, banish you Malcolm..”
“McMillian.”
“Banish you Malcolm McMillian. I render you to be a rogue, never finding a pack to live in again, and branding you a rapist of innocent women. You are an enemy of Silver Dawn, and by default Gold Moon, and will be killed on sight if you come near our borders.” I take a deep breath as everyone has become dead silent. “Will someone please mindlink two warriors, and the former Beta pair. They are allowed to pack Malcolm one suitcase under warrior supervision, and the warrior will deliver it after careful observation.”
The young woman is the first to respond, with Theo coming just a second after her.
“I have requested warriors to come to this location, Alpha.”
“The Beta’s are furious, but promise to comply with the order as it is given by the Alpha.”
I nod to them waiting for the warriors with the silent crowd. The warriors jog up to us, bowing their heads to me, and I order them in person to escort Malmcolm out from packgrounds, and the reason. They are forbidden to converse with him, and he may not come back into packgrounds under any circumstances. They seem all too eager to do what I asked, and I leave it to their capable hands.
The crowd finally realizes what I did was real, and many of them break down in tears, which Sophie, I finally got her name, tells me is relief and happiness. They have been concerned about new leadership and Malcolm, fearing the new Alpha would take him on as Beta.
Aunt Ruby explains her dilemma and the fact that everything came to light only a few days ago, and she has tried to handle it with Nicholas as best as they could, but their Beta went to the Elders before they managed to. She also says Sophie is one of the persons she has looked at as a Gamma, and I do not need convincing when Theo only agrees with compliments and says Sophie is one of the top fighters in the pack.
“Sophie, would you like to be my Gamma?” Her eyes are wide, and then she smiles.
“Yes, absolutely. But what if my mate is not in this pack, Alpha?”
“Then he’ll have to move here and be your Gamma mate, because I’m not losing you over something so trivial.” She laughs, and accepts with a huge smile.
A couple of hours in my new home and I already have my Beta pair, my Gamma and drama on my doorstep. Mom would have laughed and said welcome home, which she probably will when I come back to the packhouse and tell them everything.

Athena P.O.V.Present day Outside the sun is shining, and mom walks up to Alec and I just as Cas makes his way over with his entourage as well. I only cross my arms, and pointedly ignore Cas, trying not to give anything away. Ellesa whines, but quickly lays down with a pout, knowing he’ll meet us tonight in our usual place. We always meet at least three times a week during the night, his second in command, Drake, helping him get away from the Coven without anyone knowing. For his loyalty I have taken in Drake’s mate Vida, who has become a close friend of me and the girls. Vida is funny, quirky and quick as a viper when it comes to comebacks and defending those who need it.“Alpha Queen, a word in private if you will excuse the intrusion?” Cas asks, his eyes moving to the side with meaning. “If you really insist.” I answer, turning my voice bored and annoyed. Alec makes to move with me, but I touch his arm discreetly and ask Vida to please escort me to the side, as it would not be a
Caspian P.O.V.2 years earlier“And there is this document, your Majesty.” Drake says, handing me another piece of paper. I read it through from one end to another, although they keep telling me it’s not necessary. I want to know what I’m signing, and I have my moms voice in the back of my head “never sigh anything you are unsure about.” This document seems to be plain enough, but I notice something fishy in the way some words are spelled out, and the vague way it’s put into writing. I read it over again, trying to read between the lines and it suddenly dawns on me - this is a document saying we are forever basic enemies with the Gold Moon wolf pack, and their Alpha Queen is persona non grata. “I’m not signing this, and I want you to bring the people who drafted it and the people who wanted it in writing.” Dake looks at me weirdly, but I just lift an eyebrow. “Now!” I say, and he jumps. He leaves the office, and I put the document down, my phone ringing in my pocket. I take it out
Athena P.O.V.2 years earlier “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Athena, happy birthday to you!” I blink as the sun peaks through the curtains in my room, my bed surrounded by my parents and siblings. I smile, my heart happy. Then a voice in my head yawns and I gasp. ‘Good morning, Athena. My name is Elessa, and I’m your wolf.’ My eyes widened, and mom chuckles.“I think someone just heard from her wolf for the first time.” She says, leaning into dad. I nod, not really knowing what to do now. ‘Hi Elessa. It’s so nice to meet you too. I can’t wait until we shift tonight.’ ‘Me too girlie, me too. But I’m sad about our mate, why would he leave us?’ ‘It’s so complicated. I miss him too.’ She lays down in my mind, and my family hand over their gifts, Emmet and Davina crawling into bed with me, while the others laugh. From mom and dad I get a whole day of shopping for my wardrobe as Queen and Alpha, a spa day with mom, my aunts and cousins and a beaut
Athena The conclave chambers are suffocating with its dry smell of old papers, wine and dust. We have been summoned by the High Council which is a gathering of all species; wolves, dark faes, vampires, witches, cat shifters, demons etc. All who occupy our realm. We had no idea they existed until a letter came right after Caspian moved to be trained for taking over the Nocturne Crown. We thought the Elder Council were it, but they are just the ones who handle the day to day matters within a specific species, and they take complicated cases here to be discussed with the High Council. Apparently the vamps thought Cas and I were such a case, and the High Council agreed. Our matebond were forbidden, and we were instructed to reject each when we turned 18. That was two years ago, and we didn’t reject each other. We hid our bond, playing a dangerous political game of indifference in public, when in reality we long to be together. It’s getting difficult to stay away from him, but I know if
