CHAPTER 3: Turned

The scorching pain running through Hailey's body was almost tearing her apart but she couldn't do anything...

No matter how much she tried to scream she couldn't get a word out of her mouth.

Then the pain was replaced by dizziness...and the last thing she heard as she lost consciousness was Vanessa's whisper

"Sleep daughter. And when you wake up you will be forever grateful for what I did. You will be faster, stronger and smarter than anyone you come across. You will be undefeatable and by my side your sister and I will rule, forever"

Then everything went black

What woke Hailey up was the bumpings and neigh of horses. She bolted up immediately with a speed that amazed her and there was Lily, sitting beside Vanessa drinking a cup of red wine. Was that wine?

She felt strange....  

She felt good and....she just couldn't describe how she felt .

Her eyesight was way sharper and her hearing too...she was hearing many things ..many sounds from afar and she couldn't explain it 

What happened?

Then she suddenly remembered her Pa. How Vanessa had murdered him in their house...

Hailey frowned when she found that she wasn't feeling sad at all..not even angry. In fact she wasn't feeling anything.

"Good morning. You have been sleeping for hours" Vanessa said her beautiful face cold as ice 

"What did you do to me?" Hailey croaked out then coughed at the dryness of her throat.

"I'll explain later. You must be thirsty" 

Now that she mentioned, Haily was thirsty, very thirsty her throat was dry.

Lily handed her the glass of wine, and Hailey looked at her sister closely. She looked different. Prettier, her face was whiter but cold, with no emotions . nothing. She wondered if that was how she looked too.

With a shrug, she hungrily gulped down the wine and almost choked because that was not a wine..... 

It tasted like blood ... What the hell? Why was Vanessa giving them blood to drink?

"Take it easy on yourself honey" Vanessa said

Still coughing, Hailey frowned at her but surprisingly she caught herself wanting ..no... craving more of the blood.

Weird.. and disgusting.

Yet she couldn't control the craving. She took another gulp from the cup and swallowed slowly.

It tasted metallic, but good. And it soothed the dryness of her throat magically.

"I'm sure you have lots of questions right now honey" 

Hailey wished she could stop calling her that..

Of course she had lots of questions..but Hailey ignored her till she hungrily finished the content of the cup in her hand 

Then she threw it on the floor and laid, closing her eyes.

The Chariot bumped again on a stone, and she wondered where they were going. Where was Vanessa taking them?

"We will reach our destination soon dear." 

Hailey ignored her still with her eyes shut.

"Tell us what you did to us" Lily whispered, and Hailey opened her eyes to look at her sister.

"I gave you eternity" Vanessa said throwing her hands up 

"Eternity? Wanna be a bit more specific Vanessa?" Lily said.

Hailey silently watched them, hanging on every word as she watched her sister.

"You and your sister are now Vampires Lily. Blood suckers" 

Hailey's heart skipped a beat and she almost gasped. Vampires?

Blood suckers were just myths

But that was the only thing that could explain the bite, her craving for blood.

"That's not possible. Bloodsuckers don't exist" Lily whispered

"But they do my dear child. Three of us are proof that they do indeed exist"

"So what was the point of killing our father? Why did you have to turn us into that? Who gave you the right to?"

Hailey interrupted them sitting up.

"I never meant to kill your Pa. I was thirsty and he was annoying. And as for why I turned you ..don't you get it? I miss you two. I needed you by my side..you two.. forever"

Hailey opened her mouth to speak but had no idea what to say to this selfish woman she was staring at.

"So, the deed has been done. What exactly can we do as vampires? You mentioned we were stronger"

Lily asked throwing a glance at Hailey 

"Well...you are faster now. You are as fast as lightning. And way stronger. Don't worry, once we get home...we will be testing out your abilities" Vanessa said with pride.

Hailey could bet that she was expecting them to be very grateful for what she did.

How could they?

She just reappeared into their lives after ten years only to destroy it 

And also killing their Pa...their innocent father that didn't do anything to deserve what he got from this witch.

Lily nodded slowly and didn't say another word 

Hailey has read ancient scrolls about blood suckers and she knew a thing or two about them.

Like, they can't go out in the sun. Their remarkable strength and speed, their heightened sense.

She also knew of their history... But she was wondering. How did their mother turn into one?

And what was her real motive for turning them into this?

She knew Vanessa.. all her stories about missing them were bullshit. Hailey knew that their mother would never do anything if it did not suit her selfish Interest.

"How much longer till we get there" Lily asked weakly

"A few more hours dear" Vanessa replied and Lily nodded. She got up and went to sit beside Hailey's legs, folding up her knees and staring out the little window at the Chariot.

The Chariot looked fancy, like a royal one. With white and golden linen and cotton all over it.

Hailey rolled her eyes. This was what Vanessa liked. A luxurious lifestyle, and from the looks of things she had it.

Then why did she need them?

Hailey started feeling thirsty again, but she swallowed hard and tried to hold back the cravings.

"How do you feel, Hailey?" Lily whispered

"I don't know honestly. I'm still shocked and in denial" 

"Yeah me too " 

"What will happen to Pay?" Did she even bury his body?

"Vanessa said the villagers will bury him when they visit and see him there" She whispered and Hailey's eyes burned.

Her father was dead and she couldn't even mourn him properly because she couldn't feel anything.

Vanessa will surely pay for this
