Chapter 13.

No sooner than Hayley had said these words, another person walked inside the door.

His skin was pale and his eyes were red and a wicked smirk decorated his face.

Black suit, made his body look more elegant and his appearance was more handsome.

Jayden walked inside the room, with a confident posture, as soon as he entered the room all eyes were on him.

His presence demanded attention, he walked straight to Hayley and kept his hand on her waist as he looked at the others smiled.

Hayley looked at him and leaned into his embrace.

Ashley and Bryan looked at them with a raised eyebrow, they had no idea what was going on but they said nothing.

Nathan's face was pale, while Jonathan was no better while Jasmine and Beth were horrified after seeing what they saw just now.

Beside Hayley, stood the Jayden Nox, the leader of the vampires, one of the four higher ups of the council, rank second to that of Bryan, and equal to that of Ashley and Dawn in the council, and he stood beside Hayley with a smug grin on his face.

Everyone in the room were baffled at this development.

Hayley the runt of the pack, and the useless and pathetic, weaker than an omega had such a powerful mate.

People felt envious.

And so did Jasmine, since Jayden's rank and status was higher than that of Nathan.

She clenched her fists and glared at Hayley, while Hayley just smirked at her.

Beth spoke, "I... I thought that you have no wolf Hayley."

Hayley looked at her and smiled, "Actually I do have a wolf mother, I had a wolf since I was fourteen, I just never told anyone."

"What?" Her father said once he heard that, his face was pale and he looked like he was going to spit out blood.

And Hayley knew why he was reacting like this.

Hayley then smiled and said to Ashley, "you know Alpha Ashley, my mother used to be the previous beta, but after she died my father took over the responsibility since I was too young, but now that I have become an adult with a wolf and a mate, I am going to be the next beta as said in my mother's will and agreed by the previous alpha."

Hayley then looked at her father and said, "Right father?"

Jonathan was trembling with rage when he heard that, how dare Hayley say something like this in front of the pure blood alpha.

Beth clenched her fists as well, while Jasmine wanted to kill Hayley then and there.

Jonathan said in the end, "We can talk about it later Hayley."

Hayley smiled, "sure dad."

Jayden smiled and said, "so my dear wolfie is going to be the beta huh?"

He said with a gentle and loving voice, and looked at Hayley with loving eyes, when Nathan saw that he wanted to grab Hayley and bring her to him.

And get her away from Jayden, but he couldn't do that, he had to control himself, he can't be impulsive and offend the council.

"Yes, I will be just like my mother wanted."

"Oh my I am glad to know that my dear wolfie is going to shoulder such a huge responsibility."

Hayley giggled and Ashley smirked before she said, "Hayley is an exceptional person, of all the days I have seen her, I can see that she is a person with extraordinary talent, she is perfect for being a beta."

Jonathan swallowed blood, he felt a knot in his stomach when he heard that from Ashley, while Jasmine said, "how... how is that possible? Hayley... Hayley knows nothing about anything."

Ashley looked at her with cold eyes, something about that look made Jasmine nervous, although, the look in Ashley's eyes didn't last long yet Jasmine can feel that Ashley was not looking at her kindly anymore and Jasmine hated that.

She clenched her fist, a fire or hate was ignited in her heart and it was fumed even more when she heard Ashley's next word, "Actually, I think you are wrong.

My sister Amber, had a duel with Hayley and I swear I have never seen Amber so happy after having a duel with someone, she genuinely loved Hayley's techniques and I myself have witnessed them.

I have to say that Hayley is phenomenal as a person, and will be a good choice for a beta. Mr. Clementine." She suddenly said to Jonathan who looked at her and Ashley said, "this burden that you have carried for so long you should give it to your progeny now, don't you think?"

Hayley looked at Ashley, she felt like Ashley was deliberately helping her; she felt like Ashley was saying these words because she had seen through the masks of these people.

And if this was really the case, then Hayley was grateful to her.

The whole time when they were talking Nathan was only looking at Hayley and Jayden.

His wolf was clawing to get out and fight for his mate but he stopped it from doing so.

He was staring at Hayley and then at Jayden.

And when he looked at Jayden he saw that Jayden was also looking back at him, with mischievous eyes.

And then Jayden gave him a small smile and said nothing , the look in his eyes and the smirk on his face was enough for Nathan to feel the bubbling anger in his heart.

For the whole night Jayden and Hayley stuck together, Hayley did not leave Jayden's sight and the two interacted as if they were madly in love with each other.

No one from Hayley's pack dared to say anything to her, not after knowing who her mate was and also because the true blood alpha favours her.

Jasmine and Beth watched how the center of attention was Hayley and not them, how she was the one who had stole all the lime light making all their efforts go waste.
