Ready, Set, Punch.

"So, did you call him?" Diane asked as I took another turn.

"Do I need to answer that?" I turned sideways for a second and met her dark blue eyes. Diane and I had been friends for as long as I could remember. Although it wasn't always the two of us, but she knew me better than anyone. "Also, why do you keep staring at me? I'm trying to drive here."

"You know why I'm acting like this so you can drop the act," she moved her eyes away from me as she rested her head on the car seat. "I mean, how long has it been since you spoke to Theo?" She jolted back up and stared at me again. I guess they were right when they said brunettes were always feisty.

"Can you relax? I'm the one who has an issue with him, how come you're so stressed?" I said calmly as I tightened my grip on the wheels. Who knows what she's thinking?

"Ok, ok I'm relaxed," she sighed as she rested on the car seat. "But can you blame me? He's the reason you couldn't marry Anna, and I know you still haven't gotten over her."

"I... That's not true. I don't even think about her," I tried to defend myself.

"Oh come on, it's so obvious," she waved me off. "Honestly Russell, I know Theo hurt you but I've been hurt by you a lot more. I have feelings for you, and I probably still will in the next couple of years no matter how many times you reject me. So it's high time you looked in my direction and stopped thinking about the past. You should make up with him already!”

I should have been used to Diane's confession by now, but there was just something about the way she said it. Sure she was beautiful and had what every man would desire, but I just couldn't bring myself to have feelings for her. The rest of the ride was quiet, but thankfully it only lasted for ten more minutes.

Theo's family was extremely rich so he lived in a secluded area. I had only been to his house a few times since he moved out of his family house. Undoubtedly, he did that to be able to freely have fun with several women since his uncle was against it. I never really had a problem with it until I saw Anna on his bed.

"We're here," I faintly heard Diane say. We were in front of his house already. The next problem was how to get in. I came out of the car and walked down to the gate. The house was completely closed off from outsiders. The fence was high, and the gates were completely secure, even from the eyes of others. As I got closer, I saw a pair of eyes stare at me from behind the gates.

"Mr. Taylor?"

"Pedro? You still work here huh," I inquired. I stopped and put my hands in my pocket. "Theo's here right?"

"Yes sir, but he never really told me anything about your visit. Would you like me to give him a call?" He asked.

"Come on, there's no need for that. We'll just go in and talk to him instead," I smirked and walked back to my car.

"What happened? Did he refuse to let us in?" She looked at me curiously. "I could just call Theo, we still talk. I'm sure he'll let me in."

"It's fine, we're going in," I replied. A few seconds later I drove past the open gates. I could see all the trees from inside the car. I still didn't understand why he bought a house with so many trees, it looked like a literal forest.

I parked the car somewhere close to the main door and took a deep breath. "I never thought I'd live to see the day where Russell Taylor gets nervous because of his best friend," she teased and poked me on the shoulder.

"I'm not nervous Diane, I just really don't want to do this," I hated how I sounded so girly. Damn me and my emotions. I was a big man with stupid feelings. Theo and I did have a fallout, but as much as I hated to admit it, I did miss being his friend.

"Come on you six-feet-five baby, let's go meet your mummy," she chuckled and got off the car. I followed her until we got to the door. "Go on, ring the bell," she gestured to the bell.

I rang the bell and we waited. Theo's house was unexpectedly a modern-day wooden house with some corners made of opaque glass walls. I used to struggle to get a single piece of wooden furniture, but here I was standing in front of a two-story house made almost entirely out of wood. Money really is a necessity.

"Theo!" I heard Diane scream as the door opened, sadly too close to me. "Damn, you look really good, it's been so long. How are you huh?" She examined him as if he were her long-lost child?

"I'm good. But look at you, you've gotten even sexier than the last time we met," his eyes raked through her body. "You sure you don't want to hang with me, I mean... " he stopped and looked at me. Then he bent his head down and whispered something in her ear.

I stood there — obviously invincible — as Theo and Diane flirt with each other. "Don't say that," she said as she painlessly hit his shoulders. Watching them talk, reminded me of how we were in college.

Theo always had a thing for Diane but was too scared to do anything about it. Before our graduation he told me he wanted help, and as his best friend, I was more than happy to. I guess the idea of seeing my two closest friends together made me excited.

We had already made plans and I was supposed to get her to a secret location, but I guess fate had other plans for me. I tried following through with the plan but it was all ruined when Diane confessed to me first and kissed me.

I had to make up stories to Theo as to why she didn't come but a part of me felt extremely guilty. At the end of the day Diane rejected him, and I guess when he found out about the reason why he decided to get his revenge by sleeping with my girlfriend.

We had a fallout since then and we haven't spoken to each other but right now I was ready to do anything to secure my job. "What's up, you look good," I stretched my hands to him. Talk about being weird!

"Well you know, just kicking," he shook my hand. "Is this an apocalypse or something? You guys haven't come here in a while. Anyways I'm glad you're here and..."

It slowly felt as if the world came to a stop as I heard a sound from inside the house while Theo spoke. I looked behind him and saw a girl, too young to be an adult wearing informal clothes. I couldn't think straight and all I could feel were my fists clenching.
