The prophecy

Monster, beast, demon, and many others. Humans get really creative with names when they get scared. Besides that, they give dumb names to their kids.

Wolf? Silly name if you ask me. Why would you want to name your child after a smelly and ugly creature?

No matter how hard I try I could never really understand it. Just like I could never understand why my kind and werewolves called for a truce.

Those beasts are all strength and no brain. They should be ruled by a more superior being, Vampires. If vampires were supreme, werewolves would never go around wishing people dead, just like Theo did.

The prophecy was clear, "And so on the seventh full moon, the wolves would be turned, the blood of humans shed and vampires ready to hunt. On that night would the chosen one arise, from the most unpredictable situation. But you must be careful, for any bad influence on the chosen one could end the world as we know it."

After hearing this, the wolves became more alert. So for equality, the grand elders made a rule not to turn anyone until after the prophecy has been fulfilled. "Unless on the seventh full moon," they said. But even after all the preparations, no one expected what happened that night.

FEW MONTHS AGO

The door slowly opened as my coworker stepped in. "Russell, the meeting is about to start." She stated.

I hated meetings just as much as I hated talking, but being the Senior director of packaging development of the company meant I couldn't escape it.

"Hmm," I answered in a low tone as I walked to the window of my office. "I'll be right there"

"How is it that you haven't said up to five sentences to me per day for a while now," she started as she moved closer. "But yet I'm dying to own those lips."

"I don't appreciate humor, Diane."

"Damn, so uptight. Anyways, get your ass out of this office. Preferably before the boss explodes." I turned around just in time to see her close the door. I took the necessary paperwork and left my office.

Taking one step after the other, I walked to the conference room. "He better be in a good mood," I murmured.

A few seconds later I was seated with Diane and other workers. The conference room was huge, but most of the chairs were unoccupied. Mr. Dean must have expected a lot of things when he designed this company. Most of the offices were as empty as his heart and this one was as dark as his soul. This was partly because power points were displayed on the screen during presentations, but I preferred to blame humans than objects.

We all stood up as Mr. Dean walked in, along with two other men, all properly suited for the occasion. "Let's get straight to the point of this meeting, Russell." He said as he sat down.

"Yes sir," I stood up and walked to the front of the room. I cleared my throat as I was a little nervous.

"The new face scrub product that was launched last month did not gain any popularity, and hence the company made a huge loss," I said as I displayed a picture of the product on the screen.

"When I requested a meeting, I asked for solutions. I don't need you stating problems, what I want is how to fix it," he disrespectfully stated.

"I'm getting to that sir. I made some research and I realized, that the problem isn't our product but the packaging," I changed the picture as he squinted his eyes. Now that I said what he wanted to hear, he was focused on me.

"While our company focused on improving the skin, others focused on the packaging and that sir, is what we need to do," I concluded.

I was never a fan of long, pointless meetings so I simply went straight to the point. The boss always ignored my speech about the importance of packaging, but now that the company was suffering a loss he decided to fix a meeting with me. Now I was going to make him run for his money.

"So what you're saying, is that we need to make our product look more expensive?" He asked.

"Yes sir, and also consider the work of the product itself. Having a good working product that also looks good on camera is what will give our company the boosts it deserves."

Sure I didn't deserve to be a senior director beachse I didn't have enough experience, but I was damn good at it. What I needed was a raise, I was young and so I wanted to feel like it.

"Alright Russell, you've convinced me. I'll give you a week to improve the packaging and start sales," he said as he stroked his chin. "But make one mistake, and you're out."

And just like that, the meeting was over. Did I want to have a voice in the company? Yes, I did. Did I want to work on that in one week? Definitely not.

"One week? That's impossible!"

"There's no way he can do that."

"He's way too inexperienced to be able to pull that off"

I could hear them whisper just as the boss left the hall. Ever since Mr.Anderson helped me get a job here, not a day passed without this happening. They thought I was undeserving and this was the perfect way to prove them wrong.

"Diane, let's go. We have a lot to do." I walked out of the conference room with my shoulders high. Just because I wasn't confident about finishing in a week, didn't mean I should prove my coworkers right.

"Hey, where exactly are we going?" She yelled from behind me as she tried to keep up with my pace. "Russell I don't know if you've noticed but one week is way too short. There's no way we can meet up unless we have magic powers or something," She said as she stopped in front of me and signed vigorously with her hands.

"I know that, which is why we have to ask for his help," I told her. I couldn't help but sigh. "I never thought I would be seeing him anytime soon, but I guess fate has other plans for me."

I continued walking toward the elevator. The sooner I start, the better. I was not exactly proud, but I did hate being controlled by people. I only did my job well because I hoped to one day have my own company, which is why I couldn't afford to lose my job. And if that meant losing face a little bit, I was ready.
