To calm a beast

My body dangled out the window. Theo held on to my arm like his life depended on it. "Let go, Theo!" He ignored me as he pulled me back into his room. I looked at my best friend. Seconds passed but no words were shared. He took one look at me and he knew.

"I will never let them," he mumbled. I hated that he knew me so much, that he knew how cowardly I was. "With my uncle unconscious I have a say as the head of the Anderson pack. All they can do is keep an eye on you, and as long as you follow the rules, they'll stay far away," he placed his hand on my shoulder.

I turned to look out the window and she was already gone. I probably shouldn't have trusted her in the first place. But when I couldn't see her I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Was I developing feelings for her? I had no idea but without a doubt. There was something magnetic pulling me to Maxine, and the next time we meet, I might not be able to resist.
