Chapter 6

Shaun Smith

I was intently watching the unconscious girl laying in my hotel room. Her long raven-black hair was spilling over the white covers of the bed she was in. My bed. I did not understand but I felt a sudden pride to see her sleeping in the bed I slept in. I really wanted her to open her eyes. So that I could see those amazing pairs of green eyes. But until now the woman is still unconscious. And I seem to want to kill someone when I think of the reason why she was in this situation. Preferably, the life of one of the guys outside my room.

I could barely contain my anger when I saw the woman's bloody back. If Chester hadn't stopped me, I might have broken Ash's neck because of what he did. To this day, I still don't understand how the woman was able to bring out that kind of emotion in me. Just like that time in that hospital.

The four of us split up to look for the night blooming flower or any information on where it could be found. I was out on the street when I picked up a smell. It had the scent of night-blooming flowers but not quite. I couldn't tell what kind of smell it was. All I know is that I need to see who owns it. Or I might just die right there and then.

The scent leads me to a hospital. The smell is coming from the roof deck. And because I couldn't wait to find out who the smell was coming from, I climbed the nearest tree and jumped from there to the roof deck. It was not impossible for me to do that because of the kind of creature I was.

And then I saw her.

A girl with long raven-black hair. Her back was turned to me so I did not immediately see the woman's face. But when she turned around and I saw her eyes, it was as if something bound my heart. Chaining it to her. I immediately felt that this was not what we were looking for, but she was still something else. It's like I was paralyzed and I can't take my eyes off of her. And for the first time, what my heart and mind were saying matched.

Mine.

There's blood. So much blood. Everywhere I turned, I saw blood. In the middle of it all stood a man. His black hair was long. His skin was as pale as a white paper. And his eyes were glowing red. I suddenly felt an intense fear. A fear that has been familiar to me since childhood. I already knew what to see next but I didn't manage to keep my eyes from falling to the feet of the creature with red eyes.

There, I saw the lifeless body of my father. This is where the endless blood I saw comes from. I took a step back while shaking my head. “No. No. This is not happening.”

The creature with red eyes was now looking at me and started walking towards me. Gliding to me, as if its feet were not touching the ground. My feet moved on their own and I started to run away. Away from the monster. I didn't know how far I had run. I just wanted the nightmare to end. I thought I was away from the man forever when suddenly I felt his long fingers wrap around my neck. And all I could do was to scream. To scream.as loud as I can as if it will help me.

Then suddenly, I heard a voice, a deep rich baritone voice, telling me that everything was going to be alright. That he will protect me and nothing bad will happen to me. It was as if I was being engulfed by a warm light, shining through the darkness that surrounded me. Until I could only see light surrounding me.

Finally, the nightmare is over.
