Truth would either break Riven or force him to face the monster inside.

Riven slammed the heavy door of the private chamber locking it behind him. Lucien stood chained in the center of the room torchlight flickering across his lean frame. The air felt thick with tension and the constant pull of the mate bond.

"Start talking," Riven demanded stepping close enough to see every detail in Lucien's green eyes. "No more games. No more fragments. Who killed the heir and how did you get away with it?"

Lucien met his gaze without flinching. "I did not kill him Riven. I found him dying. I tried to save him from the Hollow Moon."

Riven laughed sharp and bitter. "The Hollow Moon? What nonsense is this? You expect me to believe some shadow killed the strongest bloodline while you played hero?"

Thorne stood by the wall arms crossed. "Alpha this sounds like more lies to save his neck. Press him harder."

"I am telling the truth," Lucien said voice steady. "The heir lay there already fading. No claw marks. No fight signs. Just emptiness sucking the life from him. I used what power I have to pull him back from the edge but it was too late. The Hollow Moon took him anyway."

Riven grabbed Lucien's chin forcing their faces close. "You lie through your teeth. I saw the body. Torn apart like a wolf attack. Your scent was all over it."

"My scent because I tried to stop it," Lucien replied eyes locked on Riven's. "The Hollow Moon devours strong lines. It leaves nothing but shells. That is what waits for you if we do not face it."

Thorne stepped forward. "Alpha he twists words. We should end this now law or no law."

"Quiet Thorne," Riven snapped releasing Lucien's chin but staying near. "Explain this Hollow Moon then. Make me believe it or I swear the pain from this bond will be the least of your worries."

Lucien breathed deep the chains rattling softly. "It is an ancient emptiness. Not wolf. Not goddess. It feeds on power and bloodlines. The experiments done on me as a child they woke something similar inside. That is why the mate mark burns us both. It seeks a vessel."

Riven paced the small chamber fists tight. "Experiments? More stories. You murdered the heir to weaken me. Now you spin tales about shadows to buy time."

"I saved him as long as I could," Lucien insisted. "Ask yourself why the bond appeared right when blood hit the stone. The moon knows the real threat. It chose us to fight this together."

Riven stopped pacing and spun back. "Together? You are my prisoner. My enemy. This heat between us is a curse nothing more."

Lucien smiled faintly. "Deny it all you want. But your wolf feels different. Mine does too."

The room grew quieter. Thorne cleared his throat. "Alpha the packs grow restless outside. We need answers we can use not ghost stories."

"Leave us," Riven ordered. "I will get the truth myself."

Thorne hesitated but nodded and slipped out closing the door. Now alone the air shifted. The bond pulled harder with no one watching.

Riven stepped even closer their bodies almost touching. "Tell me the rest. What did you do to the heir?"

"I pulled my own energy into him," Lucien whispered. "Tried to block the emptiness. It fought back and marked me too. That is when I ran."

Riven's breath quickened. "Lies. All of it."

Their wolves brushed consciousness then. A raw surge hit both men at once. Riven felt Lucien's memories flood in clearer now. The desperate fight to save the heir. The cold void reaching for him. Lucien felt Riven's iron control cracking mixed with deep buried hunger.

Desire flared hot and violent. Riven grabbed Lucien's shoulders slamming him back against the wall not hard enough to hurt but enough to feel the power. "You stir this in me traitor. I want to break you and claim you at the same time."

Lucien gasped but his eyes burned back with the same fire. "Then do it Alpha. Your wolf wants mine. I feel the rage and the need twisting together."

Their breaths mingled fast and heavy. The bond made every touch electric. Riven's hand slid to Lucien's neck fingers brushing the glowing mate mark. "This should not feel good. I should hate you."

"You do hate me," Lucien said voice rough. "But you want me more. The violence and the pull. They feed each other."

Riven pressed closer their chests brushing. Heat built fast. His wolf howled inside pushing for more. Images flashed between them. Fangs and claws mixed with bare skin and desperate grips. Desire so raw it bordered on fight.

"I could kill you right now," Riven growled lips inches from Lucien's. "End this torment."

"Try it," Lucien challenged eyes half lidded. "Your wolf will stop you. It already protects me."

The tension stretched tight. Riven's grip tightened then loosened as the shared consciousness showed them both the hunger neither could deny. Violence and want twisted so close they blurred.

A loud knock shattered the moment. Thorne's voice came through the door urgent. "Alpha scouts just arrived. You need to hear this."

Riven stepped back breathing hard. He unlocked the door and Thorne rushed in with two dusty scouts behind him.

"Report," Riven demanded voice still rough.

One scout spoke fast. "Three packs march this way Supreme Alpha. They come to seize Lucien by force. Sable leads them claiming the bond threatens all twelve packs."

The second scout added. "They move quick. Two days at most before they reach our walls."

Thorne looked between Riven and Lucien. "This is bad Alpha. They mean to take him and break the mark whatever the cost."

Riven stared at Lucien the raw desire still simmering under his skin. The secrets hung heavy between them but war marched closer now. The Hollow Moon the lies the pull. Everything built toward collision.

Lucien met his eyes calm even now. "They come for me. But the real fight is the one inside you."

The chamber fell silent except for the distant sounds of the stronghold preparing for what came next

Thorne roared. The room froze.Riven narrowed his eyes."Why are you angry, Thorne?"Thorne looked stunned."What kind of question is that?""The kind that needs answering."Lucien watched quietly from the side of the hall.Something felt wrong.Very wrong. Not because of Rowan.Because

The knife wasn't meant for Lucien. It was meant for Riven. The hidden forest keep sat silent beneath the moonlight, its stone walls buried deep among towering pines. After the ambush, every warrior was on edge.Nobody trusted the shadows anymore.Inside the war chamber, Riven stood over a map while Thorne paced nearby."We lost two riders on the trail," Thorne said. "Another is badly wounded."Riven's jaw tightened."Sable is getting bolder.""She's desperate," Thorne replied. "There's a difference."A guard entered quickly."Alpha, the patrols are in position.""Good. Double the watches."The guard nodded and left.Across the room, Lucien sat near the fireplace, finally free of the riding chains but still wearing silver cuffs around his wrists.Riven glanced at him."You've been staring at that fire for an hour."Lucien didn't look away."I'm thinking.""Dangerous habit."A faint smile touched Lucien's lips."So I've been told."Thorne groaned."Moon save us. Running would only make the bond burn hotter.Riven stood in the courtyard as night fell heavy over the stronghold. "We move tonight. The hidden forest keep is our only chance to buy time before those three packs arrive."Thorne checked the saddles on two horses his face lined with worry. "Alpha this is risky. The forest trails are full of threats. Sable's scouts could be anywhere."Lucien stood nearby still in chains but his green eyes showed no fear. "You think distance will quiet the bond? It will only scream louder when we separate."Riven stepped close and grabbed the chains. "I do not care what the bond wants. You stay alive until I decide otherwise. Mount up. Thorne you ride ahead with five men. Clear the path."Thorne nodded but hesitated. "What if they hit us in the trees? The prisoner slows us down.""He stays with me," Riven said voice hard. "Law and bond both demand it. Now ride."They set out under the moonlit canopy the forest closing around them like a living trap. Tree

Proximity would either save them or tear them apart piece by piece.Riven stormed into the war room with Lucien chained at his side the heavy iron links clanking with every step. Ancient law left him no choice. The mate bond demanded the prisoner stay close or the pain would cripple them both. Maps and battle plans covered the long oak table while Thorne and a handful of loyal alphas waited with tight faces."Keep him right here," Riven ordered shoving Lucien into a chair near the head of the table. "No one touches him but me."Thorne shifted uncomfortably his eyes flicking between them. "Alpha is this wise? Bringing the traitor into strategy talks?""Wise or not the law binds me," Riven snapped sitting down heavily. "Now speak. What do we know of Sable's movements?"One of the alphas a stocky man named Garrick cleared his throat. "Her riders hit the outer scouts at dawn. She calls for your removal claiming the bond clouds your judgment."Lucien sat quietly at first chains resting on

The north fractured in a single night and no one could stop the bleeding.Messengers rode out from the summit hall before dawn their horses kicking up dust as they carried the shocking news to every corner of the twelve packs. By midday alphas gathered in tense circles across the territories voices rising in heated debate. Riven Kaelthorn stormed through the main keep his boots echoing on the stone floors. He had not slept. The fresh mate mark on his neck still burned like a brand reminding him of the traitor waiting below.Thorne Blackwood met him in the corridor his scarred face grim. "Alpha the reports are coming in fast. Three packs have already declared against you. They say the goddess bond proves you are compromised."Riven stopped short fists clenched. "Compromised? I built this alliance with blood. Who dares speak against me?"Thorne glanced around then lowered his voice. "Sable Voss for one. She sent word from the shadow ridge. Claims the mark makes you weak unfit to lead. H
