The Woman He Couldn't Buy

Damien woke up to find a sexy blonde lying beside him. As he looked at her attractive, curvy figure, he recalled how thoroughly she had failed to satisfy him the previous night. He woke her up immediately, threw a bundle of dollars on her face and said “get the hell out of my house" 

She stared at him, her eyes widening in disbelief. "What are you doing, Damien? I'm not a slut, and I'm certainly not in need of money" 

"Then why are you still in my bed?" Damien asked in contempt and aloofness. 

She gazed at him angrily and yelled “bastard" before taking her things and walking out. 

He stared at her retreating figure as she left and shouted after her “be sure to close the door behind you and good riddance". 

He quickly freshened up and got ready for work.

He had a very important meeting. 

When he got to the office,he called for his secretary but his personal assistant informed him that she had run into a mishap so she would arrive later.

He called the human resource department and asked them to fire her immediately and hire a new secretary for him.

She probably thought sleeping with him had earned her special treatment. She couldn't have been more wrong.

Well, she could kiss her job goodbye 

Elena

After a long day of queuing up for an interview, Elena was completely exhausted. She knew that her chances of being selected for the position she was applying for were very slim but she still decided to give her best.

Working with Starlight Entertainment Agency was a huge deal for her. She had a lot of bills to pay with the most being the expenses of her son's surgery.

He was the only family Elena had left and she was not going to lose him to a congenital heart defect. His chances of surviving were really slim but Elena was willing to do whatever it takes to save him.

The sound of her grumbling stomach reminded her that she hadn't eaten the whole day. This had become part of her daily routine and she feared that it was going to affect her one day.

She stood up reluctantly from the bed and decided to make dinner. She was going to visit Little Kim in the hospital so it was necessary for her to look her best.

Just then her phone beeped. It was a message from an unfamiliar number but she opened it anyway.

“Hi baby, I know I hurt you, and I'll regret it for the rest of my life. The girl I left you for was a mistake. Losing you made me realize what I had. Please... come back to me. I promise I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Remember, I still have to pay for Kim’s medical treatment”.

She sighed in frustration before replying to the text "Duke,for the umpteenth time, we're over. You and I are never getting back together. I don't need you, neither does Kim. Stop using different numbers to call or text me.

She knew he had promised to take care of Kim's hospital bills but she wasn't going to sell her principles for money. She would rather take on multiple jobs to provide for her son's treatment.

 Pushing Duke out of her mind, she returned to making dinner. She quickly whipped the eggs in the bowl since she was craving omelette and cheese while she made a sandwich for Kim because it was his favorite. 

Her phone rang again and she thought it was Duke. She ignored the phone but it rang again. Annoyed, she picked the call without looking at the number and yelled “what the hell is wrong with you?”

The voice on the other end of the phone replied "am I speaking to Miss Elena Calloway?" Realizing it wasn't Duke, she looked at the caller ID and was shocked to see starlight agency. She immediately apologized,”Please forgive me sir, I am really sorry for the outburst and yes I am Miss Elena Calloway”

" It's totally fine", he replied “This is to inform you that you aced your interview today, you have been selected as the CEO's secretary,you will receive an email shortly carrying your job description. You are expected to resume early tomorrow. This is a friendly reminder, ensure you arrive very early tomorrow as the CEO does not condone late coming. Good luck." 

"Thank you very much sir", she said while trying not to sound too excited. When the call was over,she jumped for joy. Her happiness knew no bounds. She couldn't believe she was chosen out of all the numerous applicants. She decided that she will be so good and dedicated to her job that the company will be tempted to double her salary or even promote her. 

When she looked through her emails, she saw the one sent by the Starlight agency.

She was expected to resume work as early as 8:00 a.m. the next morning which she thought was fair. She thought back to how she had yelled when she first picked the call. She almost lost such a golden opportunity because of that stupid Duke. She was fortunate that the caller was a nice person. He could have hung up on her but he didn't. She made a mental note to seek and properly thank the man the following day.

The dress code really suited her fashion style and she was grateful for that.

 Something bothered her though.

She heard that her CEO was a rude jerk who couldn't keep it in his pants. 

She really needed this job and she was going to give it her best. 

However, she would never allow anyone to take advantage of her. If it got to that point she would just resign but she would never compromise her principles.

Little did Elena know that by this time tomorrow, she'd be sta

nding face-to-face with the most arrogant man she'd ever met—the man who would change her life forever.
