Chapter 4: A mother and it's baby

Liam's POV

Zeus took full control of me, transforming and taking off into the woods. I spotted Trent's wolf enclosing on the fawn. Just as his jaw began to clamp down on flesh, the fawn dropped, and I collided with Trent's wolf, rolling us thirty to forty feet away from the fawn.

Trent rolled onto his paws, jumping up with confusion and anger. He charged me, snarling and pooling drool under him. I swiftly ducked his attack, and countered by sinking my jaw into his neck and slamming him to the ground.

I let my Royal Command flow through me, pinning him in place. He whimpered in submission. He has never seen the wolves around here, so he doesn't know it is me. But he can feel the Alpha in me is stronger than the Alpha in him, and he has no choice but to submit.

I released him and stepped back, putting myself between him and the fawn, and sent a warning snarl in his direction. A clear command to leave the fawn alone. Leave. Trent scrambled backwards in a constant bow as he tucked tail. He turned and ran back towards the castle.

I walked over to the fawn to check on it. I could hear it's little heart beating rapidly, but beating nonetheless. Zeus gently rubbed his snout along the fawns, conveying the message of safety. Aurora's sweet vanilla and orchid scent still lingered on the tiny creature.

Zeus rubbed his snout across the fawn a few more times until it's little heart beat slowed closer to normal. A snap in the twigs had me looking up quickly.

It's mother. Thank the goddess.

I slowly backed away from her baby and then bowed to show her respect. The doe cautiously tip-toed towards it's young. Sniffing the fawn to make sure it was okay. The baby stood up and walked with it's mother.

Inner me smiled. I did it. I saved the baby.

I took my leave and made my way back to the dining hall. I made sure my entrace went unnoticed, as I slipped into my seat. My eyes found Silver Ridge's table to my precious little mate, who stared at her plate with tears still streaming down her face.

'I saved it, princess', Zeus and I, desperately wanted her to hear us. 'I saved it'.

Aurora looked up with furrowed eyebrows as her gaze locked on mine. I tilted my head. 'Can you hear me, princess?", I tested it. Her eyes grew wide, her lips parted, and her cheeks blushed. Yes, she can hear me. 'The baby is safe', I said. 'So, please eat', I told her.

She placed her hand to her heart and took a few breaths before she picked up her fork.

I'm curious on how she heard me though. Yes, she is my mate, but she does not have a wolf, that's how mates communicate telepathically, or even within the pack.

'We couldn't hear her though', Zeus added to my thoughts. He's right. Her eyes conveyed she wanted to speak.

"Thank you all for joinging us for our ceremonial Worthy Wars", my father announced, standing to get everyone's attention. "This evening will be the preambular ball. In the morning our future Alphas will start training for the first test at the end of the week", he explained.

I stared at Aurora, who kept fidgetting in her seat. 'Something's wrong', Zeus growled. I looked over her body language. She sat on the far edge of her seat, away from Trent and closer to her father. I know it's her father, I heard what he said to her, and I can smell their bloodline.

Aurora said something to her father. He scowled before reluctantly nodding. She stood and left the room.

"Where have you been?", my father's voice breaks my concentration. "I had some business to attend to", I cleared my throat as I peered over at him. "Well you smell like the forest", he uttered, wrinkling her nose.

A few moments passed and Aurora returned to her seat, getting my full attention, once again. I can't get enough of her in that white little sundress, that showed off her thick curves.

Trent leaned over and whispered something in her ear, making her cower away. My nose flared with anger, wondering why that little bitch had a thing for taunting my mate. I'll make sure that fucker dies during these wars.

Aurora's POV"You don't know that", I countered. He tightened his grip on my waist and pulled me closer. "Yes, I do", he growled in a low whisper. Chills spread across my skin, not being missed by the man that caused it. A beautiful smirk formed on his face. He pushed me away to spin me before pulling me back to him. "Why are you so nice to me?", I asked, peering up at him. "What kind of life do you live if you are truly astonished by me being a gentleman?", he questioned. I took a look around the ballroom, avoiding his question. I'm not ready to address that, and now is not the time or place. Throngs of men and women dance around us. Liam's POVThe silence is deafening between us, as my little mate looked every where but at me. I guess that's not something she wants to answer. I gently stroked the exposed skin on her lower back, making her gasp. I smirked at the speed her head whipped around to face me. "Now I've got your attention", I whispered in her ear. "You always have my at

Aurora's POV"You are just full of surprises aren't you?", Liam whispered. "That was beautiful. Do you mind singing another for us?", The King approached, making me quickly scramble away from Liam and bow. "Uh", I stuttered. "Please, it has been a while since we have had live entertainment", The King pushed. Entertainment. That's all I have ever been. 'You don't have to do this', Liam's wolf said in my head. "Of course", I smiled, bowing to the King. "Delightful", the King clapped. Liam grabbed my wrist to stop me. "You really don't have to do this", he whispered. I smiled gently at him. "Yes, I do. You never refuse a King's request", I uttered, straightening his tie, before turning and walking away from him. I walked over to the band, and accepted the microphone being handed to me. "Can you play Ordinary?", I questioned them. They whispered among one another, before nodding in agreement. The King led the Queen onto the dance floor, clearing it. I felt hateful eyes burning holes in

Aurora's POVThe door opened, startling me. I blew out a sigh of relief when Ellie walked in. "Hey, you okay boo?", she asked, walking up to me. She tilted her head as she took in my aggrevated state. "Yeah, just a little flustered", I grinned. She nodded her head slowly. "I can see that", she chuckled. "Liam asked me to come check on you", she said, pointing towards the door. I blushed further. How sweet of him. "I'm glad I did, though", she chirped. "Oh?", I grinned, taking a deep breath. "Yes. I want to take you out tonight. Get you out of the castle. I'll show you what I do for fun", she smiled excitedly, as she lifted her eyebrows in a playful manner. "Really? Where?", she had me intrigued. I love sneaking out to go to parties, bonfires or random hikes. It's the only sense of freedom that I get. "A buddy of mine is throwing a party on the beach. You'll love it", she said. "Yes. I've always wanted to go to a beach. What time?", I questioned. "8 o'clock. I'll come to your room a

Aurora's POV"I was watching you. I saw your interactions. Heard you talking to it. I heard what you said to it when Trent called your name. When he ran after it, I followed", he explained, with a gentle shrug. I let him re-take my hand. "I stopped him before he reached it, made sure he left. The mama appeared out of nowhere. So, they were reunited", he finished his story. I rolled my tongue between my teeth, and bit my lip. "Stop that", he growled lowly, the beautiful amber color flashing in his eyes. "Why did you do that?", I whispered curiously. "Because he was going to take the life of an innocent creature just to hurt you. I couldn't let either of those things happen", he answered. The way he looked at me set my soul elight. Igniting a fire deep within me. The song came to an end, causing our feet to quit moving, but our bodies didn't want to pull away from one another. I opened my mouth to thank him when I was interrupted. "Mind if I cut in for a turn?", Trent's voice made m

Aurora's POVIt was then that I realized that I had a death grip on his arm. "I'm so sorry", I uttered, loosening my hold. "You can squeeze me as much as you need, princess", he whispered. Trent, my father and the Alpha came into sight, making me subconsiously grip his arm again. "Aurora", my father's voice called out. Liam walked me over to him. "Yes Beta?", I responded, addressing him how he wishes to be. Which only seemed to piss him off. "Prince Liam, it's good to see you, again", Alpha Terry greeted, sticking his hand out to shake. Liam's eyes drifted down to the Alpha's extended hand before coming back up to meet his. "It's amazing to me that the only person from your pack who isn't required to follow wolf law, is the only one who has showed me any respect", Liam's voice was deep, as if his wolf was speaking through him. "Aurora is mine", Trent boldly claimed, reaching out for me. Liam pulled me out of his reach and gently moved my hair off my shoulder, exposing my neck. Goo

Liam's POV"I did not expect such a request from you, your highness", Rhonda greeted, as I stepped into her shop. Which was a double suite on the first floor of the castle. "Me either", I smirked. "So, who's the special lady?", she pried, showing me the selection that she set out for me. I walked to the rack and looked through the many different colors she set out. "I'd prefer not to say just yet", I uttered, laying my hands on an emerald green dress. "Pack this one up for me, please. Match it with shoes too", I said, handing Rhonda the dress. I pulled a blank stock card from the pile on the counter and scribbled out a quick note. 'For you, princess. You deserve a dress as beautiful as you'I placed it on top of her dress, and gently laid the wrapping paper over it before closing the gift box. "I can't wait to meet her", Rhonda smiled. I smirked as I walked away. I can't wait to see her in this dress. I headed up to her room. I tapped on the door, and listened for any movement bey
