Chapter 004
The sound of the pack alarm continued to ring throughout the night. This is followed by the rushing in of the packs soldiers, running around backing orders like angry commanders, determined to find the so-called culprit.
But there was no culprit, or rather the culprit was already in his house, save and sound.
Unease filled the air. Jaime could almost taste the uneasiness. He sat by his window side, staring out at the chaos that was happening in the back before him. At this point, he was grateful that his cabin was located on the outskirts of the pack.
Who would even care to disturb a trash like him.
The entire pack was now on lockdown. Only security lights paced around barging from house to house, searching….
Rogue wolf, they claimed.
He had heard some soldiers talking about it when they passed near his cabin, but they didn't as much as spare him a glance.
Lies.
There hadn’t been a rogue. There hadn’t even been a scent trail of one for some time now. The lockdown wasn’t for defense. It was for containment. They want to keep something… or maybe someone from escaping.
And Jaime knew why.
His mind flashed back to the godforsaken chamber beneath the lab.
To the dried blood crusted over the floor.
The stained old chains hanging limp from the wall.
The scent, metallic, sharp, and sorrowful that was thick in the underground chamber.
Jaime could feel liquid rising up in his throat. The mere thought of that sick room sends shivers down his core. Like his body was trying to warn him of something, but he didn’t know where to look or even to start.
He hadn’t seen anyone there… but he knew that something, or rather someone, had lived in that room. Had suffered and been tortured for God knows why.
Jaime tries to shake the gory and ugly images away from his mind, but he has no such luck.
And just before he fled that sick place, there had been a sound. A breathless whisper in the dark carried on the stale air like a thread winding around his soul.
“Abiagan”
That name had lodged itself into him like a thorn. It was also the same name he had been dreaming about.
He didn’t know what it meant. Or who it belonged to.
But one thing was sure, it wasn’t just a name.
It felt like… a calling, a pull that tugged deep down his soul.
Jaime rubbed his chest absentmindedly, where that strange, hollow pull used to throb. It was quiet now. Too quiet. And it frightened him a lot more than he could think.
Did it die when she escaped? Or has whatever pain and torture they inflicted on the thing been to much…, he refuses to think bout it but there was this silent dark voice inside his head that keeps on reminding him that what if he was late.
What if the thing in the cell had lost all hope…
Jaime felt a little pang of pain in his heart, but it didn’t stop the voice in his head.
What if it's dead…
A sudden, sharp knock made him jump up from his dark thoughts.
“Who is that…:
Before he could react…
Bang!
His door flew open with a force that sent it flying off the hinges, almost knocking into him if he had not done a dime minute dodge.
Jaime stared wide-eyed at the entrance of his cabin where his door once stood. Five guards stood there like dangerous predators, eyes wide, waiting to pounce at any time. He was surprised to see his Father appear beside the soldiers, imposing as ever, his expression tight with restrained fury. But that was not all, Jaime sucked in a deep breath when Alpha Derrek appeared lastly, his aura filling up the small room.
“What the hell…?” Jaime stumbled back.
“Where were you during the pack event?” his father demanded, voice as sharp as a blade.
Jaime blinked. He wanted to understand the tone and direction where the questioning was going. He had thought that they would just come and search his house like they had been doing to other houses but asking questions…
Twack!
A sudden pain exploded on the side of jaimes face as his head painfully snapped to one side.
“answer the Beta you trash” one of the guards who had appeared before Jaime in not less than a mini second growl at his face.
That was when Jaime's eyes widened.
All the five guards had a yellow thread peculiar to werewolves, but their life thread contained a tinge of blue in it. Which could only mean one thing...
They were all awakened!
And apparently, the guard that had slapped him was a speedster.
Jaime's mind scrambled for something, anything, anything at all that can serve as an excuse.
“I…I wasn’t feeling well,” he croaked, forcing a hoarse cough. “I stayed back in my cabin.”
Alpha Derrek’s eyes narrowed. Jaime could feel alpha derek probing aura prick his skin, he was searching for any atom of lie in his words, but years of being abandoned and having to fend himself had taught Jaime how to mask his inner thoughts and keep a poker face.
Silence descended in the small cabin, but Jamie had a notion that alpha derrek and his father were talking through the alpha - beta link.
The alpha and the Beta had a special link, a closer link than even some mates would have. That's why the worst thing Damon had done was to denounce Jaime as his beta in front of the whole pack, the first time he couldn't turn into a wolf.
Jaime remembered that day while gritting his teeth. In the pack square, in front of all the pack members, he had felt a hot knife, Rio, though his soul, shattering it. He had almost died from the pain, but nobody had even cared to console him.
The beta's life and purpose was to serve his alpha, blindly and loyal. The worst punishment was for an alpha to deprive a beta from serving an alpha.
After a long silence, they were probably done talking.
Jamie felt alpha Derek withdraw his aura before giving signs to his guards. Without another word, the guards roughly shoved Jaime out of the way and began searching. No warning. No permission.
They tore through his drawers that he had carved from trees, Threw open his closet. One even flipped his only man-made mattress. Jaime stood there, helpless and burning with rage.
He had single handedly built this cabin for himself, and now seeing the soldiers tearing through his years of sweat and labor was not easy for him.
He turned to his father, who had no flicker of expression or remorse on his face.
He could feel hot tears start to brim in his eyes, but he resisted from shedding even a single tear. This was the first time he stood close to his father in about 3 years, and his own father could not still look him in the face.
“Father, I…am innocent…”
“Shut up, ungrateful brat,” his father finally replied, cutting him off.
The guards came out empty-handed. “we found nothing sir”
Alpha Derrek said nothing. Just gave a tight nod.
“Keep an eye on him,” he muttered to the head guard before turning and leaving with a swirl of his cloak. The guards and his father followed suit behind him.
Jaime didn’t move for a long moment. He just stood there, chest heaving, listening to the pounding of his own heart. And thinking of a way to fix his door, or else, cold would eventually kill him before the alpha does once they find out the truth..
After a long time of struggling ,he was able to attach the door back to its hinges.
He continued to stare outside. Since they were searching the whole pack, it means something…
That whatever it was that was in that cell was not dead, it had escaped, and they were looking for it.
Jaime silently prayed that whoever the thing is, he/she should run away from here as fast as possible.
He dragged himself to his feet and stumbled toward the bathroom. His whole body was screaming to go and rest. He just wants to go into a deep sleep. Maybe he might dream of the strange name again.
Just a bath, he told himself. To forget, and wash it away.
But he barely removed his dirty shorts to enter into the tub, when a loud thud sound sounded.
A deep, solid sound hit his door.
It sounded like an animal had collapsed, or the worst part, a body!
His blood turned to ice.
He froze for a second, then spun on his heel, wearing his shorts back. He rushed for the door.
Swinging it open.
And time stopped Jaime,
There, crumpled just outside his door, was a figure. Jaime didn't know whether it was a boy or a girl, but the figure was covered from head to toe, with dried blood, and wounds that looked deep and life threatening, aND worst of all, the figure was naked and unconscious.
But even in this state, it was the most beautiful person Jaime had ever seen.
The hair, long and golden, was soaked and clung to the cheeks like threads of sunlight. skin though was covered with dried blood, jaime could see that it was shimmering a low oddly radiant glow under the moonlight. Blood and dirt streaked its slender arms, yet they couldn’t hide the delicate strength Jaime could see from the little skin the hair didn't cover.
“Jesus”
Jaime’s heart stuttered. His mind whirled back to life. He could believe he had frozen for five minutes in shock.
He crouched instantly, hands trembling as he touched the figure's body. The skin was warm, too warm, and feverish.
At least that was a good thing.
But he had another shock of his life.
A boy!!, the beautiful figure was a naked boy. His face was small and delicate, Jaime suddenly had the strong urge to run his hand through those tender skin.
But before he could do so, the boy's eyes fluttered open.
Jaime almost dropped the boy.
Golden!
Not yellow, not hazel. His eyes were bright Golden, Like molten light.
They locked onto Jaime’s, and in that instant he almost had a heart attack. it felt like the entire world held its breath. Jaime could feel himself being drawn in by the golden eyes that fluttered open.
“Sorry I didn't mean to…”
“S…save me… Abiagan…”
The voice was barely a whisper. Fractured and tired. But filled with despair.
“What are you?…”
The golden eyes closed, and the boy collapsed, limp, in Jaime’s arms.
I remember youJaime stood like a statue, heart hammering in his heart. he could feel the adrenaline sip out of his system, “You mean you can't remember anything?” Jaime asked the boy again, who nodded quietly, his expression unreadable. Shit!Jaime cursed for the second time, his eyes widening following the realisation of what he had just done.He had just kissed the strange boy, and not just that, he had literally forced himself on the poor boy, who was already suffering from amnesia. Shame, disgrace and Guit flooded his body like a raging storm. What had he done? His stomach twisted, Jaime rubbed a shaky hand over his face. He stepped away from the boy, eyes filled with heavy guilt. “I shouldn’t have done that,” he said, his voice hoarse, barely above a whisper. “God…I’m so sorry…”The boy tilted his head again, that same calm curiosity still shining in his golden eyes.“But… Why are you apologizing?”Jaime looked everywhere but at him. He couldn’t bear to look at the boy's fac
Few hours laterChapter Six : I remember nothing The weight of the dead deer slumped across Jaime’s shoulders, its legs swinging limply with each step.He grunted, adjusting his grip as he trudged through the thinning woods back toward his cabin, he had gone out to get food and natural herbs for the strange boy who was sleeping on his bed right now. The sky had darkened, and the moon hung brighter this particular night.Surprisingly, he didn't come across the sentinels or pack guards on his way. Which was strange. But he didn’t wait to investigate more…because he was already late.He should not have taken longer to hunt, like he had been hunting wild animals throughout his life. But every few seconds, he would try to concentrate. His mind would drift back to the beauty that is in his cabin, on his bed, and currently cooed in his blankets. His mind wandered towards the boy. How tender and smooth his golden skin had felt, even while unconscious that impossibly golden skin. Even when un
Chapter Five - The CabinThe boy weighed less than he should’ve. Jamie wasn't surprised considering the state of emaciation he was in.Jaime wrapped his hands around the burning, delicate blood-crusted body with care, afraid that even breathing too loud might break the already fragile boy. The tender skin beneath his fingers felt unreal and nothing of this world. Too smooth, soft, and just like sunlight wrapped in flesh. But the golden-haired stranger didn’t stir for once. Not even a twitch.“Shit, shit, shit...” Jaime muttered under his breath, The old cabin creaked as he hurried inside with the boy, his heart hammering like a drum in his ears.He doesn't know why, but he had that strong unexplained urge to help the stranger, even though he knew it might cause him more troubles than he could handle later on.Well, it doesn't really matter because he was already in trouble for lying, and it's just a matter of time before Alpha Derrek will come back.He laid the boy, no, the otherworl

Chapter 003"Jaime! There you are!”It was Layla, His best. and maybe only friend. Small, wiry, with unruly brown curls. An Omega, born into the lowest rank, but with more heart than all of them combined.Jaime had gone to the breakers to spend the rest of his days. He had managed to pick himself up from the hallway with the help of the new teacher. But he didn’t see the essence of attending class again. So he had sneaked here, where he hoped no one would find him.But not for Layla. She stopped short when she saw his face.“Whoa. You look like death. Is it because of Damon, I swear he is a jerk…” “No, I have already accepted my fate,” Jaime replied.“Did... did your dad punish you again?”Jaime shook his head quickly. “No. Not this time.”Liana didn’t look convinced. She walked closer, peering into his face like she could read the bruises under his skin.“Are you sure? You’re all pale. I swear, if he…”“It’s not him,” Jaime snapped at her, cutting her off.He glanced around. The hal
Chapter 002“Shit”Jaime cursed for like a hundred times since waking up today.By the time he reached the school, he was already four classes late.He looked at the clock at the hallway, 11.00am, he could still believed that he had fainted out of no reason, for 4 fucking hours.“Damn it…” he whispered under his breath. There was no point rushing now. The teachers would already have marked him absent. Another strike against his already tarnished Image. He leaned against the cold lockers for a moment, chest tight. He still could not figure out why the pain, and why did it feel personal to him. Was it related to his wolf…Or was it something worse? The whispers, the rumors, they weren’t entirely lies.He rubbed at his chest, right over the empty space where a wolf should have been.Only silence answered him.“Watch it, freak,” snarled Damon, Alpha Derrick's son, slamming his shoulder into Jaime in the hallway. His friends laughed like it was one of the funniest jokes.Jaime stumbled aga
