"Hey" he said after a deep breath. And the familiar feeling I always got when speaking to him was awakened.

"Are you mad at me?" What?

"Huh?" I asked dumbfounded.

"I saw your missed call. I'm sorry I haven't been calling. I've just been crazy busy this past few days and I lost my phone somewhere yesterday" he sighed, "I just got a new phone this morning, and called you as soon everything was replaced and the old phone was blocked"

I felt so stupid for even thinking he had found someone more interesting.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that... And I wasn't mad at you" I told him honestly.

He released a breath "I thought you were mad at me. When you didn't pick my first call" woah, he called me?

"No! No. I didn't hear the phone ring. I would've picked if I was close to the phone" I explained to him in a rush. I have no reason to be mad at him, its not like he's my boyfriend or anything. Haha.

"Okay" he said and released a breath. "So... How're you? You're home now right?" He questioned me

"I'm fine. And yes, i just got home yesterday, and its so busy and noisy" he chuckled at that, and I sighed at the deep sound that I've missed hearing.

"I'm sure you've missed that?"

"A lot" i said truthfully and asked him how his Christmas was coming up.

"Filled with training and lots of activities, I'm so tired and in dire need of a massage right now" I heard him shift on the other side before he continued "don't get me wrong I love football, but I think I need a long vacation sometimes. Though the feeling I get on the pitch is priceless and I won't trade it for anything. I'm just so... Tired" he said and took a deep breath sounding like the weight of the whole world has been placed on him. I felt sorry for him, being a captain of a great football team entails a lot of responsibilities, commitment and expectations from what I've seen.

"I really admire your strength and like you said 'you won't trade it for anything' So just keep doing your thing and enjoying it, cause there comes a time when you can't do it anymore, and I'm sure you won't regret it, okay?" I tried to be comforting and encouraging which I'm not good at. Ugh. I hope I made sense though.

"Yea. Listening to you speak is a good feeling too" he said which made me smile and I felt a little hopeful

"Well, I like listening to you too.. When you're making sense" I said teasingly which caused him to laugh

"What!" he gasped and screamed dramatically "of course i'm always making sense."

"Uhuh. Like now right?" I said in mocking manner.

"I'm not going to argue with you. Cause you love talking to me either way" I laughed at that. And the truth behind his words.

"Well, I've never been good at deciding such things so.. Perhaps my judgment is wrong."

"Just admit it you love talking to me way too much" he said not giving up.

"Okay fine. Just a little bit."

We continued to talk for a few minutes before I heard a voice in the background, and I heard him mutter 'I'm coming' before answering me

"Sorry, that was Paul, said we have a meeting with coach" he sighed "but I'll call you as soon as I can" I felt sad at that but said 'okay'

"Oh yeah I was meaning to ask you... Do you skype?" He asked me

"Uh no. I don't. Never had a reason to" I mean all my family and friends are here, we see and call each other whenever we want to, apart from a few F******k or w******p video calls from my friends outside Nigeria once in a while, Yea very boring I know. Sue me if I'm not social.

"Even now?" It didn't take me long to realize he was indirectly asking if we could face time.

"Hmm. You know if you want to face time me all you have to do is ask" I answered him with a cheeky smile on my face even though he couldn't see me.

"Okay. Fine" he cleared his throat and said "text me your details once you're all set."

"Yes sir... Bye and take care" I said reluctantly, I'm getting used to the feeling of sadness I get whenever he needs to go.

"Will do. You too" and he hung up, must have been in a rush.

It wasn't up to a minute later, before Jane barged into my room causing me to roll my eyes. I knew she was eavesdropping, the girl has no shame at all.

"Mhm. Skype abi?" She asked nodding her head "I'll set it up for you before I go,"

"Thank you" I said sarcastically, she said it like I couldn't do it. I have the app, I'm sure I just have to sign up or something like that.

"You're welcome, i know how inept you are at such things" she answered me not paying attention to my sarcasm at all. I widened my eyes at her and threw a pillow at her which hit her squarely on the head and she picked up the pillow and lunged at me, cue a pillow fight.

My younger sister, Joke came in screaming "pillow fight" at the top of her lungs and jumped on the bed joining the fight and soon enough my cousins and even Ayo, the quiet and reserved one joined at some point. Until we heard footsteps and my aunts accompanying voice causing the younger ones to scramble off the bed and move out hastily. I laughed so hard along with Jane.

Nothing can be traded with the feeling of being among the people you love and who love you.

I'm happy to be home. Home sweet home.

It's just so sad that I only get to spend a week and a few days at home.

Phew. Done!

Listen to dusk till dawn - zayn malik ft sia while reading the middle part of this chapter. "Uhm. I. I" I stammered trying to put my thoughts together enough to form a sentence. "What exactly are you talking about?" I asked instead. "Oh you mean I didn't need to know that you're the daughter of Adewale Smith, one of the richest men in Africa?" He asked the question I already knew he was going to ask. "How.. How'd you. Know?" I licked my lips nervously and avoided his eyes. "Well apparently one of the photographers who recognized you is refusing to sell his photos.. Because 'he'll make more money from It' if they get released" he caught my eye and clenched his jaw when I dropped my gaze to the floor. "Mind to tell me what he's talking about?" He asked moving into the room. "I'm sorry.. I just. I didn't think it was important. I just. Oh God." I lifted my head upwards and closed my eyes regretting omitting that little detail to him, its the main reason why I didn't even want my pi

"Turn the car around" Frank quickly told the driver in a rush. While my mind was in a turmoil, I still couldn't decipher what had happened. When we were at a safe distance from the restaurant he relaxed a little. "They must have followed the car when you came to pick me up." He was probably referring to his driver, while pulling out his phone from his pocket, dialing a number. All the while I was numb and quiet even after he finished speaking with a 'Hyacinth', - who I'm guessing has something to do with his publicity or something - and asked if I'm okay. I couldn't answer him. My mind was reeling with different thoughts such as, did they see my face? Do they know who I am? Will there be pictures? Oh God I hope not. I just said yes to him yesterday. I'm not ready for this."Hey, look at me" I finally refocused my attention on him when he shook me a little. "I'm fine" I blurted out. "I just. I. I" I was opening and closing my mouth without forming a proper sentence so I stuck with

"Thank you" I told the driver when he dropped me at the building I'm supposed to be having my meeting in. I looked up at the building in front of me and said a quick prayer to God. I went in and the bubbly receptionist directed me to the 5th floor where my interview will be held and I released a sigh of relief when I got into the elevator and saw that it was empty. Thank God its not a long ride. When I arrived at the 5th floor I saw a few people waiting around on lounge chairs, and I'm guessing they're also here for the interview. I gave my name to the lady behind the desk and she asked to sit and wait until my name is called to go in. When I heard my name I quickly went in and saw a brunette sitting down with his eyes down on papers. "So miss Cassandra," he said raising his head, and then he paused after that and stared at me from head to toe with obvious want in his eyes. I cleared my throat and shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other, regretting my choice of wearing a

  • The captain's girl   Chapter nine

I shifted nervously from one foot to the other as I waited for him pickup the phone. "I'm here" I told him immediately he picked the call. Holding my coat tight around my body. I tried not to look as nervous as I felt, but it was proving hard. "Yea. I can see you." I looked around when he said that but only saw a few cars lounging around, I didn't know which one will be his I'm guessing he'll be into sports cars though. I'm not sure. "Well I can't" I said exasperatedly still looking around the airport. He just chuckled and told me his driver was coming to get me since the place was crowded and he didn't want to risk being recognized and wasting time here. "Okay" I said calmly and not up to five seconds later I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw a white guy dressed in a navy blue suit. "That's my driver, come with him" I looked at the guy and he nodded his head at me as if he could hear my conversation. He gestured his hand for me to go. "Evening ma'am, if you'll

"Can I come in?" He asked when he dropped me at my house and I gave him a bewildered look, wondering why he wants to come and if he expects anything to happen. It's not like I except him to pull off some moves on me, but I don't think we've gotten to that stage yet to be honest. He just laughed and said "I'm not insinuating anything, its just that my room is totally boring and lifeless. I don't want to go back yet" he explained while still laughing lightly. His amusement easing me off slightly.I looked at him with a small frown on my face "I'm sorry, I just.." inhaled sharply and said "I don't think it's a good idea" He gave me a baffled look before speaking "nothing will happen. I do want you and all that, but only what you're ready to give. I'm sure the wait will be brutal, but the end is all that matters right? But if you're still not comfortable, we can call it a night at this point" he said questionably with a lift of his brows. I looked at the cute look on his face and sighed

  • The captain's girl   Chapter Seven

This happens a little over two months after chapter six ~~~"Hello beautiful" he said when I stepped out of the house. "Hello captain, you don't look bad yourself" I complimented him. Well he does look good in his dark jeans, this time around paired with a Burgundy T-shirt and dark glasses. I don't think there's any look he won't pull off effortlessly at this point. And well as for me, I'm dressed in a black short flare gown which I paired with nude colored heels. He said to dress however I want to, but I decided to put in effort into my outfit today. I let my hair down, since the weather is a bit on the cool side today. "See something you like?" I teased when I noticed he was staring intently at me, well I was too. But Inconspicuously at least. "Well yes. for one you look.. Beautiful and its been months since I saw you. I'm just awed that such beauty exists" apparently I didn't have a reply to that apart from a quiet 'thank you'. I should've pretended I didn't see him staring,
