The Betrayal

Chapter 5: The betrayal

The wind howled and the moon shone bright, casting eerie shadows on the forest floor. Artdal, stood tall with his piercing green eyes locked onto his adversaries – Garon and Layla, the two werewolves who had betrayed him. His heart burned with rage and betrayal as he faced them, knowing that they had sided with Marcus, the ruthless vampire lord, out of fear for their own survival. Garon, with a towering figure with a muscular build which now carried a lot af scratches and a scar across his left eye, snarled at Artdal. "You were always too blind to see the truth, Artdal, your strength and arrogance made you blind" he growled, his voice laced with venom. "We knew you would become too powerful if we let you live. We had no choice but to ally ourselves with Marcus." Layla, the beautiful and cunning she-wolf, looked at Artdal with a mixture of pity and disdain. "You should have seen this coming, Athdal," she sneered. "Did you really think we would let you rule over us after we killed Marcus? You're just as much of a threat to our kind as he is." Artdal's fists clenched in anger, and his eyes glowed with an intense fury. "You spineless cowards," he spat. "You chose to betray your own kind for the sake of power, and now you will pay the price." Sundenly, Athdal started hearing his pack howling in excruciating Pain. It came from different directions and he knew that it was their death howls. With each howl his face twisted in pain and anger. They were not just friends to him they were all created from his blood through forbidden magic. His father sought to use him because he was not supposed to exist, he was a miracle because vampires could not procreate he was the first and only true born hybrid. The rest came about from his father's ambition to create a powerful army. But when he killed his treacherous father, he took the hybrids with him, killed the witch responsible for it and destroyed all the magic books the forbidden spell was recorded in. So they were his family and the only hybrids in existence. With each death another part of his hear was torn away, the pain was almost unbearable even for him.Garon and Layla, snarled as they prepared to attack, their bodies morphing into monstrous forms. Fur sprouted from their skin, and claws sharpened like knives.

Without another word, Artdal lunged at Garon with lightning speed, his sharp claws slashing through the air. Garon, taken aback by Artdal's sudden attack, barely managed to dodge the strike, his fur bristling with fear and adrenaline although they had Marcus by their side now they couldn't trust him,. Athdal was a really strong opponent and their betrayal had made him really crazy so he fought fiercely without any fear. As the battle between Artdal and Garon raged on, Layla circled around them, her amber eyes gleaming with cunning as she searched for an opportunity to strike. She knew that Artdal was a formidable opponent, but she also knew that although he fought fearlessly, he was weakened by his anger and sense of betrayal. The forest echoed with the sounds of snarls, growls, and the clash of claws against flesh as the three combatants fought with every ounce of strength they possessed. Garon, fueled by his desperation to survive, managed to land a few powerful blows on Artdal, but the hybrid's raw power and agility allowed him to counterattack with even greater force. The three combatants clashed with primal ferocity, the air thick with tension and the scent of blood.

As the battle wore on, it became clear that Artdal was gaining the upper hand. His rage only seemed to make him stronger, and Garon's defenses began to crumble under the relentless onslaught. Sensing that her ally was faltering, Layla finally saw her chance to strike. With a swift, silent leap, she pounced on Artdal from behind, her razor-sharp claws aiming for his vulnerable throat. But Artdal was prepared for her treachery. In a split second, he spun around and caught Layla's arm in mid-air, his grip like iron. With a snarl of fury, he hurled her across the clearing, where she slammed into a tree trunk with a sickening crunch. Layla lay motionless, her body broken and defeated. Garon, realizing that he stood no chance against Artdal alone, turned to flee, his tail tucked between his legs. But Artdal was not about to let him escape. With a roar that shook the very earth beneath them, he sprinted after the fleeing werewolf, his eyes burning with the fire of vengeance. Garon's heart pounded in his chest as he raced through the dark forest, knowing that Artdal was hot on his heels. He could hear the hybrid's heavy breathing and the thunderous pounding of his footsteps as he closed in, and fear gripped him like a vice. In a last-ditch effort to escape, Garon attempted to leap over a fallen tree, but his exhaustion betrayed him. He stumbled and fell, his body hitting the ground with a thud. Artdal loomed over him, his eyes cold and merciless. "You chose your fate when you betrayed me, Garon," he growled, raising his clawed hand for the final blow. But before he could strike, Garon shouted to Marcus who had been standing by the side the whole time as thou he was only there to spectate "if you don't act now it will be too late. He is going to kill me and he will come for you next, you know you can't handle him alone, you need me alive to defeat Athdal" a voice rang out through the forest, stopping Athdal in his tracks. "Enough, Artdal!" It was Marcus, the vampire lord, his pale face and blood-red eyes glowing in the moonlight. Artdal's gaze shifted from Garon to Marcus, his anger momentarily replaced by surprise. "What are you doing speaking to me? I thought you would be far away by now fleein but don't worry Marcus I'm coming for you next" he said, his voice seething with hatred. Marcus smirked, revealing his sharp fangs. "I couldn't miss the opportunity to witness this delightful display of treachery and betrayal," he replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "It seems my enemies have done my work for me." Artdal's eyes narrowed as he stared down the vampire lord. "They may have injured me a bit, but the battle is far from over," he said, his voice filled with sarcasm. "I will not rest until you and your legacy are wiped from the face of the earth."
