Elara's p.o.v

My mother scurried into the kitchen as I make lunch. She has been restless about Freya since last night even though I had assured her she had only gone to visit Selene.

"It's noon, Elara. She ought to have been back by now," my mother quavered.

"You worry too much mother. Freya is no child. I'm sure she's fine wherever she is," I assured my mother, my hands working on setting the diner. "I'm sure she'll soon be back."

"I truly hope so, Elara, because there's a lot she needs to know about her mother that she hasn't yet. The Alpha king must not know she's Ingrid and that human's daughter. He'll have her killed personally."
