Raven’s POV

When I opened my eyes, everything was dark. A single light flickered weakly in the corner, shadows crawling across the stone walls. My heart jumped, and I bolted upright on the bed.

Where was I?

The last thing I remembered was the blinding flash, the pain splitting through my head, and then collapsing outside the academy gates.

Now… this.

A sound came from the far corner of the room. My eyes darted there, and I spotted a figure standing in the dark, holding something. My chest tightened until he moved closer.

It wasn’t a man. It was a boy. He looked no older than sixteen, tall for his age, with sharp features and a book in his hand. His eyes glowed faintly in the dim light, almost regal.

“Who are you?” I asked, my voice shaking.

He stopped right beside my bed, calm and collected. “I’m Ace. Nice to have you here in Rivaldrelle. You slumped outside. I had you brought into one of my rooms.”

“Oh… I—I’m sorry,” I stammered.

Up close, he looked like royalty. His clothes were finer, his posture perfect, and the way he held himself screamed high rank. I quickly climbed down from the bed, lowering my head.

“You don’t have to be sorry.” His voice was smooth, almost kind. “Relax until you get better.”

I frowned. Wasn’t he supposed to treat me like trash? Low ranks like me were dirt to royals like him. Why was he being nice?

“I’m fine,” I said quickly. “Do you know where the low rank species rooms are? I need to get settled and start with my day.”

He studied me for a moment, then nodded. “Follow me.”

“Are you sure?” I asked, suspicious.

Another nod. His face gave nothing away.

I hesitated, then followed him out. We walked down stone stairs, the air cold and damp. The corridors stretched forever, lined with torches that flickered against the walls.

Along the way, we crossed paths with several high ranks. They looked at me the way people look at garbage left on their doorstep. One wrinkled her nose in disgust. Another whispered something cruel to her friend, their laughter echoing. My cheeks burned.

But when their eyes slid to Ace, their smirks vanished. Some even looked away under his burning gaze. I blinked, confused. Who was this boy? And why was he helping me?

Finally, we stopped in front of a long row of doors at the bottom level. The air here smelled like mildew, the walls cracked. The rooms looked small, tight, and uncomfortable.

“Here,” Ace said simply.

I sighed and pushed one of the doors open. Inside was a cramped space with a thin bed and broken shelves. It was worse than my old pack house.

I stepped inside, but Ace followed. His presence filled the tiny room, making it even smaller.

“Thanks for helping me, um…” I trailed off, not sure how to address him.

“Ace,” he said again. “Ace is my name. Don’t worry about it.”

He left before I could reply, silent like an unknown.

I stood there for a moment, staring at the empty doorway, then dropped my bag onto the bed with a sigh.

“You must be new here,” a voice said.

I spun around fast. A girl about my age leaned against the wall, arms crossed. She looked worn out, dark circles under her eyes, clothes too big for her frame. But her stare was sharp.

“Yes,” I admitted. “I’m new. Raven.”

Her lips curled into a bitter smile. “Welcome to hell.”

“Thanks for the warning,” I muttered, turning back to arrange my bag.

She stepped inside and sat on the edge of my bed like she owned it. “There are rules here,” she said flatly. “You’d better learn them fast if you want to survive.”

I paused and looked at her. “Rules?”

“One, never lock eyes with the royals. Two, you can never trust them. And three, give them whatever they want. Even if it’s your body.”

I froze. “What?”

Her expression didn’t change. “We have no power here. We’re basically slaves. If a royal wants you, you give yourself to them. That’s the only way to avoid punishment.”

My stomach dropped. My chest tightened. “Give them… my body?” I repeated slowly.

She nodded. No hesitation.

“No way in hell,” I whispered, shaking my head. My fists clenched.

The girl leaned back, watching me. “Suit yourself. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Then she tilted her head curiously. “Who was that royal that escorted you here? He looked important.”

“I have no idea,” I answered honestly. “He said his name was Ace.”

Her eyes widened. She sat straighter. “Ace?”

“Yes,” I said. “Why?”

“Be careful.” Her voice dropped lower. “Very careful. He’s not someone you want to cross.”

A shiver crawled down my spine.

“Which pack did you come from?” she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she studied me. “You smell of wolf and fae.”

“From the Blue Pack,” I answered. “And yes… I’m a hybrid.”

Her lips curved into a knowing smile. “It must have been hell for you, I guess. Wolves don’t like hybrids.”

I shrugged, trying to play it off, but inside, her words hit me deep. She had no idea. No idea what it meant to live half of one world and half of another, never belonging to either.

Hell was too soft a word for it.

Especially when you’ve been rejected by your mate.

My chest tightened at the thought. The memory was still raw, like a wound that refused to heal.

I looked away, hiding the storm inside me, and forced a small, hollow smile.

“Yeah,” I said quietly. “More than hell.”

She stood. “Come on. I’ll show you around.”

I hesitated. “You’re… offering to help me?”

“Better me than you wandering around alone,” she said. “You won’t last a day by yourself here.”

I left my bags and followed her out. The corridors twisted like a maze, voices echoing from every direction. My heart beat faster with each step. My mind repeated her words over and over.

Give them whatever they want. Even your body.

I clenched my jaw.

No. Not me. Not ever.

If this academy wanted to break me, they’d have to kill me first.

Raven POVThe library was silent, covered in darkness. Everyone in the academy was asleep. Only the sound of their quiet footsteps echoed as Raven and Monica slipped through the heavy wooden doors.“Are you sure about this?” Monica whispered.Raven nodded. “If we’re ever going to find answers, it has to be here.”They moved between the long shelves, the faint moonlight from the tall windows their only guide. Dust floated in the air as Raven ran her fingers across the spines of old, forgotten books. She searched quickly, hoping to find something, anything that could explain the strange energy she’d been feeling lately.Monica was a few shelves away, scanning the titles with her small lantern. The silence was so thick that even the creak of the wooden floorboards made both of them freeze. Then Monica gasped softly. “Raven… I think I found something.”Raven turned immediately and hurried toward her. “What is it?”Monica held up an old, faded book. The gold letters on the cover were almos

Keres POVI couldn’t move. I just stood there, staring at Raven like my whole world had stopped spinning. The power she had unleashed, raw, wild, untamed, sent a chill crawling down my spine. I had seen strong werewolves before, but nothing like this. Nothing even close. The air itself seemed to bend around her. Her eyes burned with something dark and ancient, and the ground cracked beneath her feet. For the first time in a long while, I felt pure awe.Damn, she was powerful. Too powerful. And I liked it.This… this was the kind of power that drew me in like fire. I’d always been drawn to strength, to chaos. I craved it, admired it, worshipped it and right now, all of it burned inside her. Raven wasn’t ordinary. She wasn’t just another wolf in the pack. She was something else. Something that made even the strongest hesitate.I knew Hades had marked her. I knew Azrael wanted her too. She’s like a weapon, a goddess, a storm wrapped in flesh. But unlike them, I didn’t want to own her. I

Raven POVWhen I woke up, my head throbbed painfully. Everything around me felt blurry for a moment until my vision cleared, and I saw Monica sitting beside my bed, her eyes wide with worry.“What happened?” I asked, my voice low and rough.“Oh, thank goodness, Raven,” she breathed out in relief. “You passed out. You scared me half to death.”I groaned softly and pressed a hand to my head. “My head hurts.”“I can imagine,” Monica said gently. “Just rest a little, okay? But, Raven…” She hesitated, looking uncertain. “What was that earlier? What exactly happened to you?”I frowned. “I don’t know, Monica. I really don’t.”She stared at me for a moment, suspicious. “Are you sure you’re just an ordinary hybrid, Raven? Because with what I saw, I’m starting to think there’s something else inside you.”“Don’t be ridiculous, Monica,” I muttered, shaking my head. “I’m a hybrid. Wolf and fae, that’s it.”She hummed but didn’t look convinced. “Hmm. I’ll be keeping an eye on you, just in case.”I

Hades POVRaven bumped into me again, clumsy as expected. I didn’t get mad surprisingly. Everyone knows little thing piss me off so they try to stay away from me as much as possible. Because damn, she looked breathtaking.A loud scream filled the hallway, Ariel’s voice. The sound echoed through the corridor, and I didn’t miss the way Raven froze. Her shoulders tensed, her eyes went wide for half a second.I smirked, stepping closer. “Follow me,” I said quietly, not giving her a chance to protest before walking off.I could hear her small footsteps behind me as I led her into my dorm. The last time she was here, it was dark. Now the room glowed in warm gold, the curtains open and the lights soft. The place screamed power, large, royal, almost too much for the world she came from. She stood there, eyes roaming around the space. “I wonder what it feels like to live like this,” she murmured. “To live lavishly… like a royal.”I turned toward her, my lips twitching in amusement. “You’re lo

  • The last she: Rivaldrelle academy    Chapter 13. Payback

Raven's POVThe lecture finally ended, and before the professor could even close his book, I was already out the door. My heart pounded with excitement, not fear this time, excitement. Today was payback day.Ariel thought she could ruin my hair and walk around like she owned the world just because she was high rank. She thought I’d let it go because I was a low rank hybrid. She was wrong.I clutched my bag tighter and hurried down the hall, avoiding the curious stares of other students. If anyone asked, I’d just say I was heading to clean up. But I wasn’t cleaning anything today. I was getting even. When I reached the high-rank bathroom, I checked around. Empty. Perfect. My pulse raced as I stepped inside. The place was spotless, scented with rose and lavender. Everything here screamed wealth and privilege, things I’d never had.Ariel’s shampoo sat on the marble counter, golden and shiny with her name written neatly on it. All the royals used this room on hair wash days, but Ariel’s st

Raven’s POVLater that evening, Prince Keres walked me back to my dorm. Every pair of eyes in the hallway turned on us as we passed. The whispers were sharp as knives, slicing through the silence. I kept my head down, pretending I didn’t hear them, but I could feel the heat of their stares burn into my skin.At my door, Keres stopped. He told me softly that he’d see me tomorrow and then he turned away. His footsteps echoed down the hall until they vanished. When the door closed behind me, the quiet didn’t last long. Monica shot up from her bed like lightning, eyes wide in shock.“What in the bloody hell happened to you?” she yelled, voice full of disbelief.I stood there, my clothes torn, my skin marked. My voice came out low. “Ariel and her friends ganged up on me.”Monica froze, her eyes going wide. Then her gaze moved to my hair. “Oh my God, Raven—your hair!”“I know,” I said quickly, my throat tight. She stepped closer, fury in her voice. “What are you going to do? Ariel will keep
