Five years later

“Yes, harder Enzo.”

“You like that, don’t you, you little, slut,” I say as I pound it into her harder and harder.

“Yes, Enzo im close, im close,” she screams louder and louder, at first I used to be worried about people hearing her but right now I don't care anymore.

“I feel her squirming and her legs begin to shake and I know she's about to come, Cassie is a good fuck and that's why I keep her around, she knows this is basically transactional and nothing else.”

I roll my hips and pump into her and I hear her scream as she comes, she's tightening my cock and milking it, I pound into her and cum a minute later, after a couple of minutes, I walk into the bathroom to clean up, I take off the condom and toss it in the trash I don’t do anything with anyone without a condom, I’m not ready to father any child either with Cassie or any other shewolf, I don’t want to be tied to any woman again.

“ALPHA, done with your woman yet?” Max asked through the mind link.

I made Max my Beta after I became Alpha of the Silver Moon five years ago, and he has been the most trustworthy and reliable Beta, my best friend, and a kick ass warrior.

“First, she’s not my woman, second fuck off what do you want?”

“Elder Anthony is on his way in the next forty minutes, I strongly advise you clean up and get Cassie on her way, you know how he can be about being with only your mate and how it’s tradition.”

“What does Anthony want?”

“Who knows, I’m starting to think he has a thing for you the way he frequents your house.”

“Meet me by the office in twenty,”

“Yes sir, Mr. Sir,” he responds sarcastically.

I finish showering taking my time so Cassie can take a hint and leave, when I’m done I walk into the room drying off, and see Cassie still in my bedroom on my bed naked, and she’s twisting her body in a way that makes me roll my eyes in a not happy way.

“Why are you still here?” I ask as coldly as I can.

“My Alpha, baby, I know you said this is not a relationship and you don’t want one….. but I have been thinking baby, but we feel so good together, you know it our bodies fit perfectly together.”

“I think we get along too, we care for the pack and the members, I always accompany you to important pack events, I could be your mate, your Luna,” She says blinking.

I pause and I look at her, “ By care for the pack you mean fucking everything male that moves?”

“Whatever you heard I didn’t do it.”

“The answer remains no, Cassie, you can be my Mate or Luna, you knew what you agreed to when you agreed to be my sexy body and nothing else, asking me countless times won’t change my response.”

“That’s where you stand, and you get to afford anything you want, I give to you, aside from this or anything extreme, if you don’t want this anymore, don’t bother coming next week, I am not taking a new Luna.”

“I have told you a thousand times, I am not taking a chosen mate, stop fantasizing on something that will never happen, now get out of my room.”

She doesn’t budge so I walk to the door and open it widely and stand by the side, she huffs and throws her clothes on just as she walks out, I grab her placing my hand under her chin tilting her head up so she’s leveled with my eyes, “Cassie, if you ask this again, my response won’t be just no, understood?”

“Yes Alpha,” she says as she walks away.

I shake my head as she walks away, Cassie has been my longest fling, she’s quite doesn’t ask for much and knows how to behave in from of important people, or pester me to go on dates or chose her as my mate until recently, In the five years following the rejection with Jessica, I have made silver fang bigger than anyone could ever imagined.

It is the largest and wealthiest pack not only in the North Region but in the South Region too. I'm about to surpass the Eastern Region and a part of me feels vindicated at knowing that I will be larger and more powerful than the Alpha she left me for in the East.

Rex took almost a year to come back. He hasn't been the same since the rejection and I'm not putting my wolf through that again.

He, like me, doesn't trust mate bonds or women or the Moon Goddess. It's hard when you know you did everything right the first time, only to be betrayed at the end. And why? Because of greed. Even Cassie wants to be Luna just so she can have power and status. I’ve heard how she treats people, always talking down to staff who walk in the pack house, bullying anyone she feels she’s better than, Some of the warriors have told me about what she says to the omegas.

Trying to treat them like they are less, and I wouldn’t want someone like that as my Luna or mate.

Simply because she is fucking the Alpha she goes around telling everyone she would be the new Luna.

If there was another, she-wolf around here that could fuck better than Cassie  I would toss her aside. That's why I treat

her coldly about being a chosen mate. She isn't Luna material for me or any other Alpha.

Max enters my office, "Alpha."

"Hey Max, close the door," I say as I sigh.

"What? Trouble in the perfect marriage with Cassie?" He smirks.

"She was trying to get me to agree to making her a chosen mate again." I sigh.

"She's not happy with her current role? As the Alpha’s concubine?" He chuckles. "You know you are not the only one she fucks, right?"

I look up at Max, "Do I look like I give a damn,”

"I wouldn’t trust her, either, and I know you don’t, I would just make sure that you do a DNA check on any baby she is claiming is yours, she might turn up knocked up and trying to make you a father."

"Do you know anything about Anthony's visit?" I say, changing the subject.

Honestly, more than five minutes thinking about any woman is a waste of my time.

"Nah. Only that he was coming on official business." He says rolling his eyes, "I mean, what other business would he have here other than, 'official'?"

"Well, let's try to make it a quick visit. I have things to do today. I've also heard that Crest Moon is starting to stir up trouble with some of the packs. Keep an eye out for scouts from his pack around. If you find any, kill them on the spot."

I see Max's eyes glaze over and I know he is being mind-linked. "Alpha, Anthony has arrived."

"Have him brought to my office," I say.

I get up and go to my liquor stash in my office and pull out a bottle of 'vodka’ and some bourbon glasses and put them on my desk. He always enjoys sharing a glass of Vodka when he is here. He knows I don't skimp on the good liquor.

The door opens and I stand up. Anthony appears through the door with Max as he closes the door behind him. Anthony seems

to be frozen in time. He looks old and wrinkled and well past his prime but is still active as a young wolf. His eyebrows stand up like they were electrocuted and his nose is slightly

crooked.

I'm sure in his prime he was better looking. Now, he looks like life has fucked him every day and he can't remember the safe word

"Alpha Enzo, I'm sorry for coming on such short notice, but it is official pack business, you know."

"Elder Anthony, no worries. Luckily, I don't have any other appointments for the next hour. Vodka?" I offer.

"Vodka? You always have a good selection. Yes, please." He answers.

As I pour two finger widths for him, I ask,

"So, what is this official business you needed to discuss?"

As he takes the glass from my hand, he sighs,

"The Elders have been discussing your position as Alpha of the Silver Fang pack."

The glass of Vodka is about to reach my mouth when I stop. Putting the glass down, I look him in the eye, "What about my position?"

"Well, you have grown this pack very well on your own Alpha. No one can deny it, however, you have no heir to leave it should you pass away. You have no Luna either."

I can feel my temperature rising. I try to tame it down but Rex is also growling in my head, and it's making it hard for me to reel in the anger that I feel bubbling to the surface.

"Elder Anthony, I had Luna. Remember?

She cheated on me with another Alpha who wanted to feed her his dick. I have no desire to have another Luna, nor do I wish to sire an heir.

Women are a poison that seeps into your very fiber and tries to stomp on your soul."

The shocked expression on his face from my answer is exactly what I am looking for, so I continue, "My ability as the Alpha of this pack has surpassed the power and wealth of the western region and it has almost surpassed the Eastern Region.

I have done it all without a mate, fated, chosen, or otherwise. Should I die, then Max would be next in line to be Alpha. I see no reason to continue with this ridiculous conversation."

Anthony’s expression hardened and his eyes turned cold, I have to admit, it looks intimidating, "Unfortunately, it's not up to you alone. This decision is being made for the future of the pack. It will help to solidify the stability of the Northern Region."

"Decision? What decision?" I ask. I really do not like the sound of where this is leading.

"The Elders have decided that Alpha

Enzo of Silver Pack will pick a suitable Luna in the next sixty days, or we will do it for you, if you refuse, then we will strip you of your title."

"WHAT?!" I roar. I'm going to be stripped of my title. I have done it all by myself and now I have to bend to the will of five old fuckers or I can't be the Alpha anymore? What kind of archaic bullshit is this!?

"This decision is the final Alpha Enzo. I suggest you start reviewing candidates since your fated mate rejected you and second-chance mates are rare." Anthony finishes his drinks, sets the glass on my desk firmly, and makes to leave.

"Remember, sixty days, Alpha Enzo."

Chapter 127: First Night HomeNinaThe silver fang pack received my father the way it received me and everyone, without fake smiles and with complete sincerity.Chloe had prepared the room at the end of the south corridor, the one with the wide window overlooking the garden and the old oak that caught the afternoon light in a way that turned everything golden. It was not the largest room or the most impressive but it was warm and quiet and had the particular quality of a space that had been prepared with genuine care rather than obligation.Fresh sheets. A pitcher of water on the nightstand. A small vase of late season flowers from the garden that I recognized as Chloe’s particular brand of thoughtfulness, the kind that didn’t announce itself but was simply there when you needed it.My father stood in the doorway and looked at the room for a moment. Then he looked at me.“You told them about the flowers,” he said.I hadn’t. But the aura of moving a man who had been through what he had gone through underground passage required a different kind of attention we were careful so he doesn't fall of slip everyone watching him withcarefuleyes, the practical care of people moving someone who was not at full strength through difficult terrain, and I found myself on one side of him with Nina on the other and the warriors arranged around us to catch anything the terrain might throw. He moved steadily trying to act and seemed strong so we wouldn't worry. That made me respect him more.He was stronger and Better than I expected, honestly. Nina had described her father as weakened and failing and the dementia was so bad and while all of those things were true in their way, what I saw in the tunnel was someone who had spent months being deliberately m

NinaDad was smaller than I remembered. Not physically, he was the same height, the same broad shoulders that had carried me on them when I was small enough to fit. But he had the particular look of someone who had been compressed by months of difficult circumstances, worn thinner, worn quieter. His eyes though. His eyes were clearer than they had been the last time I had seen him in this building, that desperate five minute visit with alarms beginning to sound. The particular cloudiness that had lived in them for years, the fog of the dementia that had been stealing him piece by piece, was less dense this morning. Then he said “My little girl.”My father’s name for me. The one he had used since I was small enough to curl in his lap while he read, the one that had faded in and out over the years of his illness, present when he was clearer and absent when he wasn’t.I crossed the room and put my arms around him and he put his arms around me and the woman standing next to him, we stood

KaiThe tunnel entrance was exactly where Nina had described it.Three twisted oaks at the base of the eastern ridge, the ground between their roots disturbed by previous passage, a crevice in the rock face that looked like nothing but was the way to know that was the passage.I had memorized the description from her account and cross referenced it with the intel I had given Max during my debrief and it matched precisely.I went in first, not out of heroism. Out of the practical reality that I knew Crestmoon’s interior layout better than anyone else in the group and the front position was where that knowledge was most useful.Nina came second. Then Enzo. Then Tessa and Ronan and four additional warriors were moving with the compressed efficient quiet of people who had been briefed and knew exactly what they were doing. The tunnel was Damp and narrow and smelling of earth and old stone, i moved through it with the torch held low, checking each branch point against the mental map, choos

I had prepared for arguments and bargaining and the particular brand of cold composure he used when he was managing a situation he didn’t control. I had not prepared for the simple quiet of a man who had made his decision in a warehouse at dawn and was inhabiting it without drama. The holding level was quiet at this hour. The regional council’s representatives had arrived the previous evening and had been working through the night with Anthony’s confession and the lieutenants’ statements, Dexter's case was two days away, the careful methodical work of people who had done this before and understood that thoroughness mattered more than speed.I walked Dexter to the cell at the end of the corridor myself.Max had offered to do it. I had said no.The cell was clean and adequately lit and carried the silver ward hum that I had ordered maintained at minimum necessary levels, enough to preve
