“That’s why we always keep a change of clean clothes with us at all times.” Added Zach with a grin on his face.
“But it usually doesn’t happen that often.” He added with a wink.
“I’m sure you have a lot more questions that you want to ask.” Zach continued, “And I’m sure Sam would be more than happy to answer them for you. So, I’ll leave you two alone and see you tomorrow.”
He turned around without waiting for an answer, waving goodbye and leaving me alone with Sam.
As soon as Zach was gone, two strong arms encircled me. Sam was fully dressed now.
“I was so scared. I thought I lost you.”
He rested his head on my shoulder and gave me a kiss on the neck, letting his lips stay there a few seconds.
I could feel his heart beating strong in his chest. I felt truly loved in his arms. I had so many questions, I didn’t know where to start.
He broke the silence first.
“Were you scared of me?”
I thought back at my first reaction when I saw that big wolf coming out of nowhere.“A little,” I admitted, “but you were there to save me, so not too much… Your wolf … would it ever hurt me?”
“Never! I would never hurt you even in my wolf form. You’re my mate Sarah, I will protect you with all of my strength, for as long as I breathe.”
That word again: mate. I wasn’t quite sure what it meant exactly. I knew for sure I was feeling something for Sam, and I knew strange things were happening like me being able to hear him talk through my mind for instance.
“Yeah, Zach said that too, that I’m your mate. I’m not sure I understand exactly what it means yet… But I know one thing for sure: I heard you speak to me in my mind. Zach said that it’s because we’re mates.”
Sam looked me in the eyes and spoke to me in my mind.
“Only mates can speak to each other through their minds. As the bond between mates gets stronger, it becomes easier. You can even feel what the other one is feeling.
When you were attacked, I was in a meeting, I felt your fear and I heard you call me.”
Being able to hear him in my head was weird but it was nice too. “How do I do it?” I asked out loud.
“Just think about me, concentrate on me, and just think about what you want to tell me, and I’ll hear you for sure.”
So, I thought about Sam, I looked at him, letting my senses take over me. Suddenly, my mind shifted. I felt like I was there, in his mind, with him, feeling what he was feeling.
I just said in my mind, “How about we go home? I just want to go rest with you.”
He smiled and answered in my mind. “That sounds like a good idea babe.”
I smiled too and answered out loud, “But I would like to go get some stuff at my place first.”
“Yeah, no problem baby,” he said out loud too. “You should probably get a lot of stuff, it would probably be safer if you stayed with me for a while.”
He was right, and I liked the idea of staying with him for a while anyway.
We walked to his car. Sam kept his arm around my waist all the time. We drove to my apartment. Sam came with me to check there was no threat. I gathered lots of clothes and a few personal things I would need for the next few days. It was kind of weird to leave my apartment like that. After moving there only a few days ago.
It was for the best, and I knew I would be fine at Sam’s apartment. I didn’t want to be alone after what happened. In the meantime, it also meant that I could sleep in his arms, which sounded awesome.
“Okay honey, I think I have everything I need.” I told him, “Let’s go to your place.”
He grabbed me by my waist, looked at me with his beautiful green eyes. “Yeah, let’s go home.”
We drove in silence to my place. Sarah was looking out the window, staring. I could feel she had a lot on her mind. I knew she needed this time to think so I just drove. The attack earlier was still fresh in her mind for sure, and it was fresh on my mind as well. I’ve never been so scared in my life, to lose someone so dear to me. My wolf was still feeling uneasy, I needed Sarah to be with me, to touch her, to feel that she was fine. I’ve been keeping my wolf in check, taking quick looks at Sarah while driving, a reminder that she was there, right beside me. It did help to know that she was coming to stay at my place for a few days. I prayed to the moon goddess that Sarah will want to stay with me more than just a few days. And I prayed that she wouldn’t reject me, now that she knew I was a wolf. So far, it wouldn’t seem so, but I hoped she would not reject me as a mate because of what I was. We arrived at my place
“Took you long enough,” Zach told me with a smirk when I opened the door. “Hi Sarah,” he added looking at her. “Hey Zach,” she answered while going to get a cup of coffee. Her hair was messed from our making out. It must be quite obvious what we were up to. I wished no one would see her that way other than me. As she passed in from of him, Zach took a smell of Sarah’s scent and a look at her mark. He looked at me with a big smile on his face. “Congratulations man! It’s finally official.” He said to me. “Thanks man.” I answered, “Couldn’t be happier.” Sarah went on to tidy up her hair and came back looking radiant, as always. I couldn’t believe how pretty she looked. “As long as you’re happy.” Zach continued, “This is not for me. I like to taste girls, I’m in no hurry to settle down.” I laughed a little. “As always, but you’ll see one day, you’ll find a girl that will tame you.” “I g
I opened my eyes. The car was slowing down, turning into a big mansion’s parking lot. I turned to look at Sam.“Hey sleepyhead,” he said with a smile, that same smile that melts my heart every time I see it.“Hey Sarah! You missed all the fun,” Zach said to me.He looked excited like a kid.“Hey guys! Sorry, I didn’t realize I was this tired!”They both laughed as Sam finished parking the car. “Here we are!” he told me.I looked outside; the mansion was enormous. I think I’ve never seen a house this big, well other than in movies.“Wow! Your parents have a huge house!” I told Sam.“Well, it’s not just his parents’ house.” Zach said, “A few members of the pack live here. My parents live there as well.”“Some members of the pack live in the forest or in houses nearby.” Added Sam, &ldqu
After supper, Sam wanted to talk to his dad, about the attack at work, about prophecy and about my weird dream. He needed to talk alone with him about some Alpha stuff too. It was a good timing because Val, Sam’s mom, wanted to talk with me too. Sam embraced me and kissed me sweetly before going with his father. I followed Sam’s mom outside in the yard to a magnificent flower garden. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. We sat on a bench near a fountain. Kids were playing a little further while the rays of the sun were still up. A gentle summer breeze was blowing. Val was the one to talk first. “I wanted to ask you, are you happy with my son? Is he treating you well?” I wasn’t expecting this question, I giggled a little. “Yes, I am very happy with your son. He treats me well, always showing me how much he loves and cares for me.” She seemed happy and smiled.
I looked at him but couldn’t keep a straight face, he seemed so sad. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek. “Of course, I forgive you. But you’d better be there for me when I need it. Your mom seemed to say it could get pretty intense and unpleasant. I’m not really sure what to expect at this point.” He cupped my cheek with his hand and raised my lips to his. Then he kissed me, his tongue making its way with mine. His other hand ran through my hair. In this moment, I truly felt loved, my heart racing fast. I was close enough and could feel his heart racing as well. We continued like this for a moment and I wished it would never stop. He finally broke the kiss, looked me in the eyes and said, “I will always be there for you, baby. Whatever you need, I will give it to you. You are my mate; it’s my duty to care for you as it is yours to care for me.” He really knew how to comfort me. I stayed in
I woke up early, Sam was still asleep. I stayed in his arms, feeling the warmth of his body. I wasn’t in a hurry to get up, enjoying this time alone with Sam. “Hey sweetheart” I looked up to see Sam waking up, smiling. I reached for his mouth and kissed him. “Hey honey, did you sleep well?” I asked him. “I always sleep well with you by my side.” We kissed for a few minutes and then got up. I had to prepare myself to go speak with his dad soon. When we got downstairs, his mother had already served breakfast. We got to the table. Everyone was already sitting and only a few empty chairs were left. I ended up sitting next to Marissa and Keven. When I sat down, she looked at me and said with irony. “Well, I guess the marketing of the new game is going so great you don’t need to be working on it.” I was boiling inside. How could she say that in front of everyone? She knew about everything
A few minutes after, we were in the car. This time it was only Sam and I. Zach was staying to lead the investigation on the prophecy. We had a few hours’ drive to do before we would get near the shrine. Sam’s mom had made us lunches so we would have something to eat on our way. We spent our time singing to the songs on the radio and talking together. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, we arrived at a forest of old trees. Sam parked the car in a dirt parking lot near the side of the road. The forest was mainly made up of firs and pines, mixed with some deciduous trees. All those conifers were hiding the light of the sun which made the forest quite dark. Luckily, some rays were still filtering through the deciduous trees. Moss was growing on the tree trunks. This gave the forest an eerie look, kind of like the forest was the home of a magical creature. We came out of the car, Sam looked at me and said, “Quite i
We walked for a few minutes, down past the entrance to the temple. Then, in the distance, we saw a clearing. In this clearing was a small wooden cabin, all made of logs. We made our way to the cabin. Luckily, the door was unlocked. There was no one inside and it looked like no one had lived there for weeks, but it was in overall good shape. “I think it’s probably a cabin for the hunters, when it’s hunting season,” said Sam. It made sense, you hunt during the day, and then at nightfall you find the cabin and rest. We lit the oil lamps as this place had no electricity. We hadn’t eaten anything for supper, and I was getting hungry. We searched for food, but could only find canned food, vegetables. There was a wood-fired oven, plenty of wood, and all the cauldrons we needed. All that was missing was some meat. “I guess we’ll be eating canned vegetables.” I said to Sam. He frowned and said, “I want meat… This is a hunting cabin, so I
