MasukOn the surface, one would think Rune was just being a jerk when he asked about the houndras.
But on a much deeper level, there was something far more terrifying. “At least let me get changed into something else before shoving me into the bathroom” Akira protested. “Well there is no time, we just have thirty minutes to get you prepared for dinner.” “Kai doesn't like to be kept waiting.” Akira smirked, enjoying the devious look it had on her reflection in the mirror, “is he an impatient man?” She asked. “Well yes…” rune answered speedily, “wait ... .wait wait…” he said as he gave a second thought to the question and the answer that he gave. “No,no, no, he is not that.” He corrected me. “What is he not? Impatient or a man?” She asked, enjoying the games she was playing. “The first.” Rune said. “So he is a man? Impatience is a common virtue amongst men, trust me, I would know about that.” She said as she struggled with her laughter. “Enough of this rubbish, just have your bath and get dressed already.” There was silence. “Akira, I know you can hear me, I need to hear the sound of running water in there!” Rune said as he knocked lightly in the door. “Why don't you come in yourself and turn it on?” She asked. His ears rang. Furious,he stomped around the room, the soft rug did all they could do to absorb the sound of his stomping but there was no match for his frustration. “Don't let her get to you…” Rune chanted with his eyes closed several times before he sat on the bed, “she would have a bad memory soon enough.” He opened his eyes and rolled them, “in six months? That's an awfully long time.” His boiling blood seemed to drop the moment he heard the sound of running water. Finally she had decided to have her bath. Akira on the other hand could have sworn she saw something in the mirror. A woman. She shrugged the creepy feeling off with the idea that she was living with men who could transform into wolves, men who obviously believed that the unicorn was a real thing and that it existed. The bath was quick, the hot water was all she needed for her aching back. “I will be coming out.” She yelled, “you do not have to watch me dress now do you?” Without uttering a word, Rune stepped out of the room and closed the door loudly behind him. The door opened to reveal Akira's beautiful ocean gown that highlighted her curves. The gown went so well with her skin tone and smile. Her hair! Hee hair was styled neatly with a few strands sticking out freely at the front and back. Rune wondered how she was able to acheive that much perfection under a short amount of time. “What?” She snapped, “are you going to stand there and gawk at me like some hungry seagull at the sight of bread?” “Really?” Rune asked, his admiration slowly turning into annoyance, “did you have to ruin this moment with your words?” He asked . “Not while I live.” She said, “Well, let's see in six months…” Rune muttered. Akira's heart skipped a beat but she didn't let it show. “I don't intend on staying here till sunrise.” She thought as time led her to the dining table. ………… “Why do I need to eat with her?” Kia roared “What do you mean why? That lady out there is your mate.” Orion said. “She's no different than a prisoner, I will reject her once she fulfills her purpose here.” Kia replied, turning his back at Orion. Orion could have gotten mad but he didn't. With a soft smile at the corners of his lips, he placed his hands on Kai's shoulders, “I totally understand how you feel, especially how you're at the risk of losing your authority In this pack but it's not going to get any better if you keep treating her like this.” “If you want her to be out of your hair as soon as possible, I suggest you take my advice on this matter.” A human was not in Kai's agenda. He had hoped to live over a thousand civilisations and it never crossed his mind that he was going to get fated to a human. Not only was he not able to reject her and keep her a slave, he was going to eat dinner with her. Orion was like a father to him, he was the only reason he was doing this. He had rather die fighting the honduras than live to lose his pack all because he was dated to a human. He took a deep breath, Orion's council were always the best, he had followed them long enough to know. He believed that everyone made mistakes and he wished that this time was not the first time Orion would ever make a mistake. “Sure thing, I will have dinner since it means so much to you that i do” said Kai defeated. Kai adjusted his tie and made his way to leave when Orion's string hands held on to his shoulder tightly. “You can let me—” In a flash Orion had him flying through the air and crashing on the floor. “What was that for?” Kai asked, apparently you could tell from the way he reacted that he was used to this kind of treatment. “Next time, when you speak to me, do not go about with that grumpy tone of yours, you know how much I hate it.” Kai rubbed on his neck as he lay there on the soft rug when a knock came on the door. “Lord Kai, dinner is served and your guest is already at the table.” “Fine.” Kai muttered as he got up the floor, “I am sure you are happy now?” He asked Orion as he adjusted his shirt and dusted his collars. “Not happy,” Orion replied with a smile, “just expectant. Now let's hurry, you do not want your meal to get cold while you sulk in here and most importantly….” “Don't say it!” Kai thought, as he bit on his lower lip “...you do not want to keep your mate waiting!”The cracked earth created a chasm between Akira and her comrades.“There, far enough to interfere but safe enough to watch how things unfold” Orion taunted, “place your bets, people. Who is emerging victorious tonight?”Akira but back her lips. It was too late to run now and she was grateful, now she had no other option than to put an end to all of this. Her weapon, Kestrel's Filament, slid down her arms swiftly like some living serpent and straightened to form a staff, “bring it on?”Orion chuckled, “it won't be fair to bring it on when you aren't sure of your footing, I mean, take a look at you—” he waved his hands and the earth under Akira’s foot shook, causing her to stumble in the process. She used her cord to maintain her balance eventually.“That should not be your problem Orion. I said, bring it on!”“Akira be careful!” Tony shouted as she lost her footing. The floor tilted this time around after Orion waved his hands. Gravity seized her and she fell. She struck the stone alon
“Where do you think you're going?” Kai asked, his strong hands gripping Akira tightly by the wrist. “Did you not hear a word of what he said?” She responded, her anger, clearly visible in the tone of her voice. “You're not going to face him alone are you?” “I don't. We have to give Rune some time to catch his breath. He's the only fire we have that might stand a chance against Orion.” “You're still trying to talk to him? That wolf has gone mad with rage and hate.” “And who's fault is that?” She hated that she had brought that up but it was necessary to remind Kai that they were in this mess because of him. He went too far and he dropped the bar to hell with the way he went about to cover his actions. “Look, Kai. As much as I would like to put the blame on you and scold you, I am afraid I can't, not now.” “You've done enough for the pack as it is. That was why I was brought here in the first place, no? I was brought to save this pack from the path of destruction that you alre
“Is that why you are here?” Akira asked, her countenance expressed anger and disgust so strong enough to keep the most dangerous predator away but Kai was more stubborn than a wolf in heat.He knew what he was after and he was going to get it one way or the other, all he wanted was a conversation.“Hmm” Tony moaned, “thanks Kai, this is nice.” “What is he still doing here?” Kai thought. He had hoped that something somewhere would cause him to leave..His eyes trailed to Tony's moving lips, “that toast is not for you!” He muttered.“You said something?” Tony mumbled with his mouth half full.“Oh it's nothing.” Kai said with a fake smile, “enjoy!”In reality he just wanted him to choke on the next bite.He could do it manually; it takes him nothing to snuff the life out of that human but he would rather wait for him to die of natural causes. He suddenly remembered that he was still in a conversation with Akira. He might have slipped out temporarily but Akira stood there, her ears waiti
Akira almost blurted out the thoughts that filled her head at the moment. That little sob story was really getting to her and it wasn't in a good way. What was Cain and his daughter on about? She did not know if she was to be insulted or grateful by the idea that she was a pawn in all of this.In hindsight, she was grateful that she was kept alive but this?. This was madness the more she thought about it. What was she? A pawn? Some pity party. The idea that her life has been threatened, saved and threatened again because of one man almost sent her flying off the handle. She stared with disgust in her eyes. That was stupid— there was no other word to describe that.“Umm—” she said, breaking the conversation that was going on, “why don't we get back to this after we've gone after the houndra?”“Come on, let's go!” Rune agreed.“Not you two.” Akira said to Eliza and Cain, “you two need to remain here—” She caught the look of confusion on their face that clearly asked one question, “w
“So? Are we getting something?” They all stood faced by the destruction the houndra had made. “How long has he been here?” Tony asked. “I don't know— it's been a while and it's been so long that we don't know how long.” “Wait what?” Akira gasped. "Well, let's not hang around here while it gets away. Time to track it and bring it back here." Rune suggested. Akira’s face was grim. "Bring it back? Rune, look at this. This is the result of her mistake. “ “They held a houndra with the aim of harming us just because they can. “Akira I thought we've been over this?” Tony asked. “We weren't, we were only distracted for a brief moment and I guess we know why” Rune stood there looking confused at what was happening before him. He has Suspected that there was trouble afoot at the very beginning of this trip, but what he didn't expect was that it was going to be something as blown up as this He was going to cool down, there was no need to jump into conclusion, not yet. Aki
The entire pack house was silent as expected, everyone who brought life was out of the house leaving Kai alone with his misery.Orion was on a quest to hurt him and the woman he loved.Rune was out with the said woman he loved on some kind of quest to help the pack. The woman he loved was not speaking to him, he wasn't going to deny, he brought that upon himself. He could feel his heart churn as the thought of the new human that made his way to the pack. Tony.As if he was not being punished enough by the silent treatment, the human who happened to be her ex boyfriend was out with her on the same quest.“Nice timing!” He muttered, “great timing.”He tried as much as he could to see the bright side in all of this but there was none that he could find.He tried to get his mind off things but the more he tried the more it stuck to his head like a barnacle. His thoughts magically drifted to the day he approached Terra, the priestess of the moon goddess. Her warnings echoed loudly in his e
