Akira's eyes darted all around the room.
She was still unable to wrap her head around the events that were happening. “That's wonderful,” Orion said as he reached a hand towards Akira to help her up. Unable to move, something about her body being paralysed as a result of fear, she still clung tightly to Kai, the one man she associated with safety in this crazy world that she had found herself. “Come on now, take my hand beautiful lady.” Orion urged her. Still in shock at what almost turned out to be her end , Akira just sat there, kneeling, drenched in sweat. Her Legs had become disobedient to her brain's command as they would not stop shaking no matter how much she willed them to. True to the voices in her head, she was already losing her hold on reality. Orion, with his hands still stretched out twirled his eyebrows, a gesture he seemed to have picked up over time watching humans physically and on the Television. It was an effective way to get others to do whatever you want them to, at least, that was. What the recent episode of his favourite human series taught him. “I----...” Akira muttered, and it turns out that her feet were not the only thing that had gained independence. “Trust me.” Akira gulped and took hold of Orion's hands. “That's it,easy does it,” Orion said as he pulled her slowly to her feet. He could feel the rules going crazy, his mission was to calm Her down as much as he could. Kai had never been the hospitable type and he knew him right from when he was a little pup. “Come on,let's get you something to eat!” Orion urged as he walked out the room with Akira. Kai waited, there was a lot he had to say. “The only reason you all have breath in your filthy lungs is because I let you.” “Do not forget for a minute your place in this pack, I am about alpha dn you will remember that!” “And to you!” He said as he faced Cain, “do not try anything funny.” He warned, “If you as much as look at her the wrong way, I will not hesitate to gut you out myself.” “The pigs in the farm need a change of diet and I for one know how delighted they would be when they consume you. It's not everyday a prey gets to consume the predator.” Cain felt insulted, “is that a threat?” He fired, “I am the beta of this Pack I have done nothing wrong I'm trying to defend the interest of it's wolves” “Well I suggest you start protecting your own interest.” Kai said with a warning as he walked out the room and down the hallway. ……………. “Tea?” Orion asked Akira as he led her out to the balcony. The warm air soothed her tension, she breathed easily now. She shook her head slowly at the request of the strange man who stood before her. True to his disposition and the way Kai honoured him, he looked like he had seen a couple hundred years. But there was something about him, strength? Youth? Everything about him pointed to how young he was while suggesting how old he was. Whatever the case might be, Akira was glad to associate another face with safety. She had her limitations with this one and it did not include taking tea from him. In as much as he gave the suggestion that saved her life, he also gave the suggestion that would end it. She had six months to live. Those men back there had proclaimed judgement on her already. She still had no idea about what they wanted her to do in the six months that she was here. “It's just tea l…” Orion urged her, “it's not something harmful, or you do not like tea?” “I do like tea,” she replied. “Why don't you accept my offering of tea?” Akira chuckled. The way he slowly reminded her of her father, he doted on her and spoke to her like she was some cute little fur ball. “What's with the laughter?” Orion asked, amused at her response and touched by her cute smile. “You remind me of someone.” she said. Orion smiled and poured out a cup of tea for her. She took one look at the streaming antique cup of tea and had a change of heart. She was willing to move her limitations a bit further. She accepted the cup with both hands and muttered a weak “thank you.” She took one whiff if the tea and her senses tingled. She liked up from the cup to Orion who was watching her with expectant eyes. “Lemon?” She asked. He nodded, “you like it?” She took one sip and let her taste buds provide the answer to that question first to her before she passed it on to Orion. “Yes…” “Well I am glad you did, drink, there's more!” One thing was certain, that no matter how much he tried, Orion could not hide the fact that he was pleased with himself. He was happy he did something the Human liked. He believed all humans loved lemon in their tea, and for once his stereotype proved useful. Akira was one human that enjoyed lemon in their tea. “More?” He asked as he lifted the tea pot?. “No, I'm good. Besides, it's getting late” she said, “I should be going home now…” The silence that followed brought a sudden realisation upon Akira. This was her life now, she had no other place to go. “I am never leaving here alive am I ?” She asked. Without missing a beat, Orion asked, “I think we should get you ready for dinner, you need a change of clothes and it would not be a pleasing sight to be seen with blood all over you during dinner.” Akira temporarily forgot about her problem and was focused on how she looked. She reeked and she definitely needed to freshen up. “Come on.” He said with a smile. “She's not bad after all.” Orion thought. he had already taken a liking to the young human woman. She reminded him of his first and only lover. Another human!(Many years ago, during the age of the protectors)“Lord Kai, this is madness. What you are asking us to do is suicide.” Orion protested.Kai was a ruthless wolf, no one dared question him. This little contribution from Orion the elder wolf had many fearing for his own life. The entire court went silent.“Who said that?” Kai barked. No one dared speak in his presence unless spoken to buy Orion was not moved by that.“I did.” Orion answered to the surprise of the entire court, “I said that this idea of yours is madness. You are sacrificing a lot of us for this rubbish.”A loud gasp resonated amongst those present.“You wanting to reign over the supernatural realm is not only reckless but a waste of time, resources and lives.”“The wolves are happy and content, we lack nothing and we seek no trouble with any other realm.”“Your father knew this and he kept his paws within his realm, not for once did he interfere with the affairs of other realms and we lived in peace all these years till
Stunned, Akira asked Orion “Why did he leave so soon? Is that part of the rules or is there something that I am missing out on?” Orion shook his head, “not that I know of, perhaps he's tired and relieved that you survived….”“Or maybe he is just pissed that you didn't take his advice and dove head first into danger.” Rune said casually.“Rune…” Orion called.Rune knew he was right and he was going to defend that truth to the ends of the earth,“What? We all know that is true.”“But I won. I survived and now she would never have to bother us again”They instinctively looked over to the garden where Eliza was sprawled on the floor, weak and gasping for air.”“you really did a number on her…” Rune remarked, “but that's besides the point. We did not know for sure that you were going to survive. You are a human–” he paused, “were a Human….” He corrected“What's that supposed to mean?” He ignored Akira's question and continued, “Technically no human could survive a wolf, not without help bu
Kai stormed Into his study and locked the door behind him forcefully. His countenance was like one who had seen a ghost. The duel he had just witnessed, the weapon she used, it was all so familiar And he hated himself all the more that he had not seen it earlier. But there was no way she could have survived. He ensured that he wiped them out.“I need a drink!” He muttered as the thoughts were haywire. He thought he was done with his past, funny. It only took a couple thousand years for them to claw their way back up to the surface and this time around it picked a creative way to get back at him.……………“Stand down wolf!” The protector warned as he strutted into the temple of the moon goddess in his wolf form, ignoring her warning. He got close enough within talking range before he transformed into his human form.“The supreme alpha…” she said aloud a she recognised him, “you have a lot of nerve showing your face here”“I have more than nerves..” he responded, “I am sure you know why I
“You are one lucky human,” Eliza spat. She had missed the Akitasbface by an inch and that created an opening for Akira to counter attack. Her weapon was everything she hoped for. Now she wasn't quite used to its changes but she could work with it.“I guess you must be out of touch with your wolf side for you to have missed me.”Eliza groaned with rage, “take that back!” Akira pursed her lips, “make me!”Eliza snarled, her claws flexing. “You're cocky for someone so breakable.”Akira twirled the now glowing cord around her wrist, the tip sparking with energy. “This is new.” She thought but she brushed it off, after all she had pressing issues at hand.“And you,” she retorted, walking round in a circle carefully, “you are awfully chatty for someone who just missed a human, aren't we supposed to be easy targets for your kind?” Eliza lunged.Akira sidestepped with a dancer’s grace, her cord snapping stiff like a spear cracking Eliza across the ribs.Eliza growled and stumbled back. “
Orion's face was etched with concern. That was one weird choice of a weapon especially against a werewolf like Eliza who was skilled with using her supernatural abilities.Kai on the other hand was livid. If she was going to go ahead with fighting Eliza the least she could do was select a better weapon.“What are you doing Akira?” Kai asked half yelling, “A cord? What cord is strong enough to stand against a wolf?” He asked.“If I may…” Orion chipped in, “Kai is quite right. Are you sure you want to get back to that fight with a cord as your weapon?”She nodded like a six year old who is hell bent on getting her way.“Very well then” Orion agreed.“Not– not very well then!” Kai countered, stuttering.“Don't tell me you're supporting her to do this shit. Do you know how dangerous this is? I would like to pick for her.”“You know that you can't do that, this is her fight. I think you've interfered enough Kai” Orion advised.Rune left to get the cords and was back in a couple minutes a
One thing Orion hated more than houndras and the cries of toddlers was being woken up from a sleep especially when it wasn't worth the disturbance. He knew it took a great deal to stir him up from sleep so waking him from his sleep for nothing shows how intentional you were to wake him.The loud yells had reached him and it got him out of bed wondering why someone would yell that way.Reluctantly,he decided to go check out what it was.He knew that the sound came from the garden area and he was going to check it out from the balcony overhead. He moved slowly and drowsily but his pace picked up the moment he overheard the conversations below. He sped to the balcony and was horrified with what he saw.He cast the forcefield spell that separated Akira and Eliza.“Have you gone mad?” He hollered from where he stood.“Stay out of this old man!” Eliza retorted, doing all she could to get closer to Akira but was pushed further by the barrier spell between the both of them.Orion felt insulte
