Akira's eyes darted all around the room.
She was still unable to wrap her head around the events that were happening. “That's wonderful,” Orion said as he reached a hand towards Akira to help her up. Unable to move, something about her body being paralysed as a result of fear, she still clung tightly to Kai, the one man she associated with safety in this crazy world that she had found herself. “Come on now, take my hand beautiful lady.” Orion urged her. Still in shock at what almost turned out to be her end , Akira just sat there, kneeling, drenched in sweat. Her Legs had become disobedient to her brain's command as they would not stop shaking no matter how much she willed them to. True to the voices in her head, she was already losing her hold on reality. Orion, with his hands still stretched out twirled his eyebrows, a gesture he seemed to have picked up over time watching humans physically and on the Television. It was an effective way to get others to do whatever you want them to, at least, that was. What the recent episode of his favourite human series taught him. “I----...” Akira muttered, and it turns out that her feet were not the only thing that had gained independence. “Trust me.” Akira gulped and took hold of Orion's hands. “That's it,easy does it,” Orion said as he pulled her slowly to her feet. He could feel the rules going crazy, his mission was to calm Her down as much as he could. Kai had never been the hospitable type and he knew him right from when he was a little pup. “Come on,let's get you something to eat!” Orion urged as he walked out the room with Akira. Kai waited, there was a lot he had to say. “The only reason you all have breath in your filthy lungs is because I let you.” “Do not forget for a minute your place in this pack, I am about alpha dn you will remember that!” “And to you!” He said as he faced Cain, “do not try anything funny.” He warned, “If you as much as look at her the wrong way, I will not hesitate to gut you out myself.” “The pigs in the farm need a change of diet and I for one know how delighted they would be when they consume you. It's not everyday a prey gets to consume the predator.” Cain felt insulted, “is that a threat?” He fired, “I am the beta of this Pack I have done nothing wrong I'm trying to defend the interest of it's wolves” “Well I suggest you start protecting your own interest.” Kai said with a warning as he walked out the room and down the hallway. ……………. “Tea?” Orion asked Akira as he led her out to the balcony. The warm air soothed her tension, she breathed easily now. She shook her head slowly at the request of the strange man who stood before her. True to his disposition and the way Kai honoured him, he looked like he had seen a couple hundred years. But there was something about him, strength? Youth? Everything about him pointed to how young he was while suggesting how old he was. Whatever the case might be, Akira was glad to associate another face with safety. She had her limitations with this one and it did not include taking tea from him. In as much as he gave the suggestion that saved her life, he also gave the suggestion that would end it. She had six months to live. Those men back there had proclaimed judgement on her already. She still had no idea about what they wanted her to do in the six months that she was here. “It's just tea l…” Orion urged her, “it's not something harmful, or you do not like tea?” “I do like tea,” she replied. “Why don't you accept my offering of tea?” Akira chuckled. The way he slowly reminded her of her father, he doted on her and spoke to her like she was some cute little fur ball. “What's with the laughter?” Orion asked, amused at her response and touched by her cute smile. “You remind me of someone.” she said. Orion smiled and poured out a cup of tea for her. She took one look at the streaming antique cup of tea and had a change of heart. She was willing to move her limitations a bit further. She accepted the cup with both hands and muttered a weak “thank you.” She took one whiff if the tea and her senses tingled. She liked up from the cup to Orion who was watching her with expectant eyes. “Lemon?” She asked. He nodded, “you like it?” She took one sip and let her taste buds provide the answer to that question first to her before she passed it on to Orion. “Yes…” “Well I am glad you did, drink, there's more!” One thing was certain, that no matter how much he tried, Orion could not hide the fact that he was pleased with himself. He was happy he did something the Human liked. He believed all humans loved lemon in their tea, and for once his stereotype proved useful. Akira was one human that enjoyed lemon in their tea. “More?” He asked as he lifted the tea pot?. “No, I'm good. Besides, it's getting late” she said, “I should be going home now…” The silence that followed brought a sudden realisation upon Akira. This was her life now, she had no other place to go. “I am never leaving here alive am I ?” She asked. Without missing a beat, Orion asked, “I think we should get you ready for dinner, you need a change of clothes and it would not be a pleasing sight to be seen with blood all over you during dinner.” Akira temporarily forgot about her problem and was focused on how she looked. She reeked and she definitely needed to freshen up. “Come on.” He said with a smile. “She's not bad after all.” Orion thought. he had already taken a liking to the young human woman. She reminded him of his first and only lover. Another human!Akira almost blurted out the thoughts that filled her head at the moment. That little sob story was really getting to her and it wasn't in a good way. What was Cain and his daughter on about? She did not know if she was to be insulted or grateful by the idea that she was a pawn in all of this.In hindsight, she was grateful that she was kept alive but this?. This was madness the more she thought about it. What was she? A pawn? Some pity party. The idea that her life has been threatened, saved and threatened again because of one man almost sent her flying off the handle. She stared with disgust in her eyes. That was stupid— there was no other word to describe that.“Umm—” she said, breaking the conversation that was going on, “why don't we get back to this after we've gone after the houndra?”“Come on, let's go!” Rune agreed.“Not you two.” Akira said to Eliza and Cain, “you two need to remain here—” She caught the look of confusion on their face that clearly asked one question, “w
“So? Are we getting something?” They all stood faced by the destruction the houndra had made. “How long has he been here?” Tony asked. “I don't know— it's been a while and it's been so long that we don't know how long.” “Wait what?” Akira gasped. "Well, let's not hang around here while it gets away. Time to track it and bring it back here." Rune suggested. Akira’s face was grim. "Bring it back? Rune, look at this. This is the result of her mistake. “ “They held a houndra with the aim of harming us just because they can. “Akira I thought we've been over this?” Tony asked. “We weren't, we were only distracted for a brief moment and I guess we know why” Rune stood there looking confused at what was happening before him. He has Suspected that there was trouble afoot at the very beginning of this trip, but what he didn't expect was that it was going to be something as blown up as this He was going to cool down, there was no need to jump into conclusion, not yet. Aki
The entire pack house was silent as expected, everyone who brought life was out of the house leaving Kai alone with his misery.Orion was on a quest to hurt him and the woman he loved.Rune was out with the said woman he loved on some kind of quest to help the pack. The woman he loved was not speaking to him, he wasn't going to deny, he brought that upon himself. He could feel his heart churn as the thought of the new human that made his way to the pack. Tony.As if he was not being punished enough by the silent treatment, the human who happened to be her ex boyfriend was out with her on the same quest.“Nice timing!” He muttered, “great timing.”He tried as much as he could to see the bright side in all of this but there was none that he could find.He tried to get his mind off things but the more he tried the more it stuck to his head like a barnacle. His thoughts magically drifted to the day he approached Terra, the priestess of the moon goddess. Her warnings echoed loudly in his e
“There is no way I am going to let you do that. Do you hear yourself?”“Dad—”“Not now Eliza;” Cain snapped, “As much as I would like to deal with you now I can't, you'll just have to wait?”Tony tried to take control of the moment “You don't understand Mr.?”“Cain.” Cain answered.“Yeah, right, Mr Cain, you don't understand why we just have to do this now. It's quite important that we do this as it would help us deal with the current situation we have with the houndras.”“No— wait, who the fuck are you?” Cain asked“Rude” Tony muttered “I know the insufferable alpha's mate—”Akira hated that statement that was used to introduce her, “hey! I have watched name”“ I know Rune and the daughter who just betrayed me but you—” Cain sniffed the air, “human!” He roared.“There's no need to get violent now, I suggest you calm down and this advice is in your best interest!” Tony warned as he slowly put himself in a fighting stance.“You can't trespass on my property and tell me how I should re
“Oh—” Cain gasped, “Eliza, you scared me there for a minute, what are you doing here?”“Um— I'm just up and about, it's actually nothing.”“Well do not sneak up on me next time. I almost scratched a hole through you”.“Oh daddy….” Eliza chuckled nervously as she hugged her father, “you were always the joker.”“Yeah yeah,” Cain patted her on the back as he broke the hug in the process, “enjoy that, it might be the only one you would get in ten years.”He walked around as he observed the entire cabin. “How’s our little friend, he seems quiet today.”“Huh? Little friend? What friend?” Eliza asked, her fingers tying little knots at the hem of her shirt.“What do you mean what friend? I am talking about the houndra.”“Oh, the houndra we still have that?”Cain paused. Something was not right with Eliza. He knew his daughter and she was a lot of things, one thing that she was not was slow and right now, Eliza was acting extremely slow.”“What's wrong with you Eliza?” “Nothing. Nothing is wro
A few seconds after he returned to his body he fell to the floor. He felt extremely cold and his eyes were unable to see anything. He tried to move but fell to the floor. Before he fell he had overheard voices and telling like people were shouting. He was curious but that could come later. He hoped they would notice he was back and come to help him which they eventually did.“Water!” He muttered,"I need water.”It just felt like the right thing that he needed at that moment so he asked for it.He could hear the shuffling of feet as soon as he made his request and a few moments after he felt the moist edge of a bottle touch his lips and it was bliss from there.“How are you feeling?” Akira asked himHe understood her concern at that moment because there was a bigger problem than himself.“We will figure that out later, I know what we must do.” He said.He stood to his feet amongst the chorused “what”“We have to release the houndra!”“No we can't,” Eliza argued “that's madness,” Aki
