chapter twelve

Kai swung the door to the master bedroom wide open causing Akira to gasp at the splendor of the entire room.

Kai spared no words in describing the room to her earlier and now that she saw it with her own eyes, she felt like he did not do justice to this room.

“Welcome….” Kai said rather coldly as he walked Into the room leaving Akira at the door.

She on the other hand just stood there watching.

He got into the room and took off his jacket quickly.

He could not wait to get out of them especially as he had to wear them because Orion said so.

Next was his cufflinks, and then his shirt and his shoes and socks.

All that he had left was his pants.

“What are you doing?” He asked her.

“Nothing…” she replied, her eyes fixed on the ornate mirror on the wall.

“Come inside, you will be staying here.” He said, pointing to a particular location In the room.

She could not see what he was pointing at from where she stood.

She reluctantly dragged her feet and walked into the room and saw he was pointing at a door..

“Where does that lead?” She asked.

“Your room,” Kai answered.

“So I won't be sleeping with you?” She asked.

“No, is anything the matter? Do you want to sleep here with me?”

She cringed,not at the idea of sleeping with him but at the thought of actually sleeping with him.

Kai did not wait for a response and he went ahead to unbuckle his belt.

Akira noticed and turned to look at him uncomfortably.

“Are you going to go check it out or are you willing to stand here and watch, whatever option you choose is fine with me.”

She walked towards the door and swung it open, it was just as good as the one behind her.

“So what's going to happen? You have me here now, what next?”

“Nothing,” Kai replied, not looking up from what he was doing, “let it be known that I gave you ample time to get into your own side of the room,behind locked doors before I get naked.”

“Naked…” the words echoed in her head over and over again.

Akira never knew that she could lose control of her imagination as she did at that moment.

She gulped.

Her saviour turned captor looked good enough.

She was only human to be attracted and by all means, Kai was attractive.

“Get a hold of yourself.” She muttered to herself as she closed the adjoining door behind her.

It was going to be one long night

All was calm, silent and serene with the moon overhead.

Kai and Akira both slept in their respective sides of the room but the concept of a peaceful sleep was far from them both With each of them facing their own storm.

Kai's eye lids quivered and his brow ruffled. For the first time in a long time he cursed his being.

Having a strong sense of smell had always been a good thing for him, no smell was outrightly bad to him.

Everything was unique.

But tonight? One of his greatest attributes was causing him a great deal of unrest.

It all came back to the human next door, her scent filled his nose, his thoughts and his dreams.

He thought he had seen it all but his discovery tonight was on a whole different level.

Her scent was all he could think of. From a far distance once could resist but not when she was just at the other side of the room.

His body responded.

With the force of an unstoppable flood, his blood pumped hard and his member pressed tightly against the fabric of his underwear.

He groaned and tossed around,throwing his pillow in frustration.

“What is wrong with me!” He yelled.

He paused and looked over to the adjoining door. He did not want to wake her And most importantly, he did not want her to see him in this state.

There was no telling how much control he had left, his inner wolf was not helping matters.

With the occasional whisper of how she smelt and how he would delight at her breaths coming in short spams .

It was a delight, it was heavenly.

“No!” He barked, “she's nothing to me!”

Akira on the other hand was not having any better.

She tossed around in her bed as the images of her first night here filled her dreams.

“She is human!”

“Kill her! Kill her now!”

“She smells so weak, she doesn't deserve the next minute!!”

Those words kept ringing over and over behind the horrible images that tried to attack her.

What made this nightmare terrible was not the monsters or their words, it was Kai,more like the absence of Kai.

His absence was a nightmare.

At first she was not scared, nothing they said or did fazed her. She knew she still had Kai to protect her.

“Where's your precious alpha?” One of the monstrous faces asked.

She looked closely, it was Cain.

“Your alpha is gone and now there's no escaping us!”

“No…” she cried as she woke up from the horrible dream.

She struggled to catch her breath and after she did she turned to look at the adjoining door.

“Oh no!” She gasped, placing her hands over her mouth.

“Are you alright?!” Kai asked as he opened the door with force, “what's the matter.”

He quickly found the light switch and flicked it on.

The light pierced through the darkness to reveal Akira sitting up in bed, her knees drawn to her jaw and her entire body covered with her blanket.

He came closer to find out that she was drenched in sweat.

He could hear shaking, he could hear her heartbeat, it was faster than normal, the only other time he heard he heart beat like this was she had encountered houndras.

“There's no way they could have made their way here” he thought.

He was quickly drawn to Akira's silence,.he could sense her fear.

It crippled her.

“Talk to me…” he said, “what exactly happened here?”

Akira just shook her head, how could she tell him of her nightmare.

How was she going to explain that her fear was him leaving her again to face the cold hard world, and this was if she was able to survive the wolves who wanted her dead.

How was she going to tell him that…..

“Knock knock knock” came.the rasping sound of the main door.

“Stay here.” Kai ordered as he crawled out of bed, his body glistening with his sweat and hers under the moonlight.

“Who is it?” He growled as he opened the door to behold one of the messenger wolves.

“I am sorry to disturb you lord Kai at this time of the night….”

“And yet you did, but let's not dwell on that now shall we…” he said, his voice low and laced with venom, “why don't you proceed with what you came here for?”

The messenger gulped in fear, “I am sorry my lord, I would not have had the boldness to knock on your door if not for the orders from master Orion.”

“Must be serious.” Kai thought.

“Go on,” he urged, “I will be with you both soon enough.

He hurriedly got into a robe and grumbled all the way down the stairs.

“What is Orion, This had better be good!”

“Hello Kai….” Came a smooth feminine voice fork behind him, one he recognised.

His pupils widened with recognition.

“There's no way….” He thought.

“Mirabel?”
