chapter eleven

Dinner was over and it was time for them all to retire.

Akira was the first to leave the table, she longed for the comfort of the bed provided for her here.

“Where are you headed?” came Kai's voice, stopping her.

“To my room?” She said.

“You will be sleeping in my room!” Kai countered.

Orion smiled.

“I do not want to sleep in your room, talk more about sleeping with you.” Akira said, “my cell…”

“Room…” Rune corrected.

She sighed and rolled her eyes, “cell… is quite conducive for me, I would prefer it over there.”

“Well you are my mate and my guest, it is not wrong for me to want you to have the best In this house, and the best room in this house happens to be mine.” Kai said.

He could not let her out of his sight, he did not want to risk her, he did not want to lose her to her own vices.

Kai might not have admitted it, but he was sacred, this was a mate that he had lived centuries for.

He had made the mistake of letting her out of his sight, twice in the last three days and it almost ended with her dying.

“Really?” Akira scoffed, “I am allergic to the best.” she said, her voice laced with sarcasm.

A smart response that got Kai fired up.

“Why?” He asked himself.

This human here infuriated him, there was no reason why he kept her here with him.

Heck,he had no reason to keep her with him, his strategy was enough to keep his pack safe.

But he just had too.

“Well you will just have to get used to it!’ he said as he grabbed her by the arm.

“The fuck!” She cursed as she looked from his dreamy eyes to Orion's grim face.

“I think we should leave now.” He said to Rune, pulling him by the arms as they walked out the dinning room.

“You would have to pick; the cold outside or my room.”

His mind was made up already, all of this was just to make her believe she had a choice.

Kai was not going to let her out of his sight.

If she was adamant about sleeping in the cold, he was going to go after her.

His heart skipped whenever he thought about her getting harmed by anything, the cold not being an exception.

“You're not going to let me hear the end of this will you?” Akira asked.

He kept quiet, that was the answer she needed.

Regardless of how much she tried, she was excited to see how it was, sleeping in another room with someone.

With the man who saved her from certain death.

The night was indeed young.

“What are you doing Orion?” Rune asked as he was being dragged through the Hallway by Orion.

“don't tell me that you're oblivious of what is happening?” Orion asked, without stopping or missing a breath.

“Can you at least tell me without trying to kill me?” Rune argued.

Orion stopped and without warning,flung Rune in front of him.

“Kai was right, I thought he was being paranoid..” Rune said as he rubbed his head, “you've been violent these days.”

Orion sighed, “do I have to explain it all to you? Can't you see what's happening?”

Rune shook his head, his hands still wrapped tightly around his necks.

Orion groaned, “Argh! This is the moment we've been waiting for, they are sharing a room together and soon enough…” he dragged, hoping that Rune would get it.

“And?” Rune replied to his disappointment, “what happens when they share a room?”

“What happens when they share a…, are you being serious Rune?” Orion snapped, “they are mates, what do you think would happen when mates are left in a room together?”

Rune thought really hard on this but he knew when to give up, “I want to say sleep but i have this weird feeling that it would be wrong anyways”

“Yes, no, yes….not that,” Orion stuttered, “they would have no choice than to consummate and we would be closer to breaking the darkness that looms over us.” He explained.

“Would they not be better off sleeping? Besides, she should be more focused on overcoming the darkness. She's running out of time, first it's three days and next thing it's a week, a month and six months.”

Orion knew this And he had a plan.

“That's where you come in,” he answered with a smug face, “you are going to guide her, yeah her, lecture her about all she needs to know about us, this realm, her destiny and most importantly…”

“No…” Rune said with the idea of what Orion was heading at.

“You are going to teach her about Kai.” Orion said.

“Huh?”

“Yes, you heard me right, you are going to teach her about Kai.”

Rune did not like this one bit, he had almost lost an ear the last time he tried to get Involved with the human.

He was just fine with being a close friend to the supreme alpha, but everything was happening all too fast even for him.

Rune was present when the very first telephone was made, he was even alive when the electronic message was delivered, but none of them happened as quickly as this.

“And what about Kai?” Rune asked, “I do not think he would be happy about this, what do you think he would say about this if he finds out, what am I supposed to do with him when he finds out?”

“Simple, you guide him,too, teach him to be a lover and a protector. The destiny of this realm lies in their hands but it rides on your shoulders”

Rune rolled his eyes, he hated it whenever Orion went proverbial on him.

“I do not know anything about a human woman, how am I supposed to lead them together?” He asked.

Orion's chuckles filled the air, at least it eased the tension on Rune, “well I suggest you get ready to binge watch N*****x. I learnt a lot about their kind there, they tend to evolve and change a lot with each h generation.”

“They are different from the ones we once knew the last decade, so you need to keep up.”

The sound of footsteps walking in the opposite direction caused them to stop talking, “well I guess you resume tomorrow morning.” Orion said to Rune
