His Burden

[Amya’s POV]

My heart gave a tug and any lingering tipsiness that I may have had disappeared due to Mykel’s sobering words.

It was entirely his fault...

He was standing here in front of me saying that it was his fault that the great Ortus Solis pack was now gone. Despite how serious his face looked, I just couldn’t believe what he was saying was true.

"Let me explain." Mykel said, motioning towards a bench. "But first, let’s sit down. We look pretty damn suspicious. "

"Sure."

Keeping my hand wrapped in his, Mykel led me across the grass and waited while I sat. However, even once I was seated, he remained standing, staring down at me with a look so deep I couldn’t help but feel he was miles away from me.

"Mykel," I whispered, giving his hand a gentle tug. "Please, tell me what has you making that face."

"Face?" Mykel repeated, in confusion.

Nodding, I closed my eyes and reached out for his consciousness. When I found out, I began to project the image of him that I was seeing. Maybe if
